Sounds so, so good. But maaan that chip theory tax just makes it such a hard sell. I know it and cloudspire are amazing games, but I have to ask myself if they're personally worth 3-4 other fun games (yet more if expanded) and without being able to try first, I've not taken the plunge.
Nice quick review. I can see there s a lot of combat which is fine with such unique mechanics but is there any sense of adventure you get or exploration outside combat encounters?
I have to agree with the 10 out of 10 rating. I hear a lot of comments about the price of this game, and it is expensive, but not overpriced when you realize what all is in the box. Simply buying decent chips, cards, dice, and neoprene you are already around $100, then you think about all of the time that went into the design of a game where each character is more complex than a lot of other entire games and you realize that it warrants the price tag. The insert is also very well done. If you have the $s and the price is the only thing holding you back, it shouldn't. You do have to be ready to spend several hours to learn each character along with how the game itself plays. I have about 100 hours played, so at a little over a dollar an hour it has been worth every penny. : ]
Thanks Liz. You rated this higher than Cloudspire so I guess you like this better? Which one would you recommend starting with for someone new to Chip Theory?
Great review! Wow, and a 10/10 score. I have played this a few times, and it definitely does have that "you're going to have to learn each character too" factor, kind of like _Vast_ or _Root._ Definitely worth the time to learn it. Honestly, it makes me want to try out _Hoplomachus_ too.
Thank you for you reviews I really enjoy them. Your review for Too Many Bones was one of a few that really got me interested. I bought it and have a question if possible. I started solo with Patches and towards the beginning I had an encounter with Stone Golem. Between his skills of Break and Corrosive and 3 Attack despite trying a few times I had no chance. I want a challenge but this was a slaughter. AM I doing something wrong? I thought maybe I should try a different Gearlock or try playing with two together? Do you have any suggestions?- Thank you
This gaming experience is seriously the ultimate for solo and coop players. A perfect score doesn't mean it doesn't have a flaw but this is literally amongst the very best I've ever played. Opinions
Well done! Thank you for taking the time to explain this game I’ve been wanting to learn this game and now I want to play.
Does Liz Davidson have a top 10 games of all time?

Truly a masterpiece for solo and coop. Thanks for covering Liz.

Hoplo or TMB if you can only pick one Liz?

Best overview of the game I have seen - great job.

9:07 Hah ha ha ha! I can't wait for face-to-face conventions to start up again. 😂

Great job covering this game
I ready for my trove to get here so I can break it out again.
I see a Liz Davidson Review. I click.
(Also have been very interested in Too Many Bones, with the price being the only reason I haven't purchased it)
Yeah, her choices are really up my alley.
Yes, perfect game
10/10... 😒

@@jhowd78 Agreed but I don't like the art style at all :(
@@Brotzkopf fair enough. Im a gameplay over everything guy so art rarely bothers me. I play enough euros to not care about art so much
Ridiculous. This game scales very badly with number of players and is often very swingy. Also overproduced and too expensive.
Its true, but you can mitigate both factors with clever play. Still a very good game.
