Tribute to a superior if underrated actor. He didn’t play Sherlock Holmes he became Sherlock Holmes. He actually gave his life in an attempt to complete the series. If you look carefully at the last episodes you can see that he is close to death. RIP
Jeremy Brett is a National Treasure. He is far & away the best Sherlock Holmes ever & took the character to a new level of brilliance. God bless you Jeremy, you should’ve received a knighthood for your services to acting. #SimplytheBest
Jeremy Brett❤ was a great actor and the best Sherlock Holmes ever or he was actually Sherlock himself ❤ his facial expressions and his act was so great he made Holmes character amazing 🤗 thanks very much for this wonderful video ❤🙋♀️🙏
Sherlock holmes =Jeremy Brett.....no one before or since can come close to portraiting Sherlock Holmes but also let's not forget both David Burke and Edward Hardwicke
100% Agree. He owned the Sherlock character to a point whereby his practising for the role through method acting meant he stayed in character for months on end, until it actually became part of his own persona. Absolutely magnificent actor & will never be bettered in the role of Sherlock Holmes. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Thank you very much for the video. I am sincerely glad that you were able to visit Clapham Common. This place is inextricably linked to our beloved Jeremy Brett. I am very sorry that this beautiful three planted in his memory died. Jeremy Brett didn't play Sherlock Holmes, he was one for 10 years. In an interview, Jeremy Brett was asked what he plans to do after he finished his latest Holmes films. Jeremy: - " Now I think it's time to rest as much as possible and think about what I really want to do myself, and not about what other people want from me. It will be a great comfort to me when I become older to be able to look back and say, "Oh, well, I did Holmes, and I managed to do it not too bad"(May 1990). For me, for thousands of his fans, he was the best Sherlock Holmes in the world.
To me Jeremy Brett was the very Best Sherlock ever along with David Burke, I am an oldie now, and can't get out much these days, and coincidentally binge watched his Sherlock series a few months back. Another great post Alan and Lena, your posts although quite sad sometimes never fail to amuse and enlighten us viewers.
Hello Mr. Chrissy, I am sorry do you want me to send you some tissues? I can't help it sometimes. It's just the stories are sometimes sad and it gets you on the day but it never last. I always come away with her laugh. It's the best way. Thank you, Alan
Hello Alan, I think there is a small misunderstanding. It's not the dead tree behind the bench, but the little chestnut tree you look at when you sit on the bench. I think you can see it behind your head at 7:35 minutes. The tree was planted, I think, in 2017 and was still very small then. I came from Germany to London in May this year to see the bank, the tree, the museum, etc. It was incredibly beautiful.
Thank you ever so much for telling me. I wish I'd known it when I was doing the film It's just that I had read online that the tree had subsequently died. That's why I took the presumption. It was the tree behind the bench on the left. Anyway, thank you. Greatly appreciated. Alan
His hand prints are in the cement mortar on a wall not far from my home here in Balsall common, they are in the grounds of a very beautiful private Tudor house once owned by his family and where I believe he grew up .
Very interesting I remember watching the series every Sunday loved it. Another handsome man. I went to the coronation Street tour in 1987 and on the same tour was the set for the sherlock Holmes even the cobbled St with tram tracks. Thanks for sharing Alan love from Holmfirth West Yorkshire 💙 💚
Hi Gill I remember that set because I walked around it too. I had my photograph taken outside Sherlock's house 🏠 wasn't it fantastic. I bet you thought coronation Street looks small. That's what most people were thinking that day compared to the TV. I was an extra on coronation Street a few times. The very first time I was stood in a doorway with Emily Nugent for half hour doing a bet for the program and I told her it was weird standing with a her natina many times as a boy in the 60s. The archway at the end is where everybody has their makeup put on very cramped but of course they moved to a bigger set now. Hope you being sitting in the garden. I'm heading back up north in about 3 weeks much love to you. Alan
Hello John, I think if you asked most people they would think of. Jeremy as Sherlock well I love the tribute. He did such a wonderful job. Have any modest man as well in real life? Best regards, Alan
Thank you so much for this one. Jeremy Brett was/is the best Sherlock & a superb actor. I watched the first Sherlock TV series of his all those years ago & still enjoy the replays. Great video ❤
Thank you very much.Mr.Brett was amazing to watch.l plan on doing some Holmes binge watching….but a question.did Peter Cushing ever do a Sherlock Holmes movie.? Thank you
Hey Alan me again twice in one night. I think he was the best sherlock ever. There was just that something extra that he put into this role. He become the character brilliant done. Thank you Alan see you in the next one sweetheart xxxxxx 🌹🌹🌹
Hi Karen how privileged to have you watch two of my little movies but both of them had daily loved. That's why I enjoy doing them both very different characters. Reg and Jeremy both chalk and cheese 🧀🍕 but both great actors See you soon!
Really enjoyed this tribute as every week I just loved his shows and figuring out “who done it “ My husband and I bought the board game “ 221B Baker Street ““ and the kids loved playing it and are playing it with their children ,our grandchildren today 👍🏻
Thanks for this Alan, I knew that Arthur conan Doye lived in Portsmouth for a while, He even helped start the football team up. There's was big thing about him in a museum down here, Whether it's still there I don't know as we haven't been in there fir a few years.
Very interesting video thanks Alan you’ve done a great job. Lots of memories of Jeremy, he was an excellent actor. Good to see your fabulous videos Alan. I’m sure Holmes would’ve asked for info in a cafe too. You have a new assistant. 😉Take care. Joan.
Hello Joan It's great to see you and I thought it was a touch of Sherlock going into the cafe 😊 my assistant isn't even on minimum wage but never mind 😜
Jeremy Brett was the definitive, and best Sherlock Holmes. I would not want to watch any other Actor playing the part. Just like David Suchet being Hercule Poirot.
Hi Alan, so good to see you again. I'm not sure if I've just been missing you these last months or if you have just started posting again. I do sincerely hope all is going well with you now. I remember watching Jeremy Brett back in the day 😁 he was a good actor. Enjoying this video xx 😊
Hello Jean, no I've not been able to do TH-cam but I'm okay now. I'm free so I just filmed quite a few over the last month so it's nice to be doing the old stuff again. Wasn't Jimmy fantastic? It was such a swive guy. Thank you for your encouragement. your sweet Alan
My sentiments exactly, funny enough I checked your channel 2 days ago thinking maybe I had missed something then today you posted two great vids... thank you 😊
Elementary my dear Alan. He was the best Sherlock Holmes and I thought he was amazing in My Fair Lady (his singing was replaced by another singer). RIP Jeremy Brett.
Hello Donna, I know I was just like Sherlock cracking the mystery in the cafe... I'm going to have to watch the end again myself now... Hanging baskets ?
@@MotorHomeBeepBeep You never knew you were such a great detective 😁 Oh yes, they were on the front of the museum and the pub a couple of doors down, some might have been window boxes but very nice flowers all the same.
Hello Rosemary there's a lot of nice people that comment on here and that's the way I like it Thank you for enjoying I also love the interesting comments all the best Alan
Hello! Kay that's funny, kind of you. It makes me want to do more films. I have done quite a few recently so I hope you enjoyed it when I published them. Regards, Alan
Most of the programmes were filmed around Manchester Town Hall, England, He played a wonderful Sherlock but my favourite was Basil Rathbone ( RIP ) Mr Brett 🙏🕊️.
if you cross the road and walk down towards the corner to Baker St Stn there is a plaque to remember HG Wells who wrote the war of the worlds, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle who wrote Sherlock Holmes lived at Undershaw house in Hindhead in Surrey, its by the double roundabouts where the A3 used to go through Hinhdead, it is claimed that he and George Bernard Shaw held a bet to see whose house was Bigger, apparently Shaws house was taller so Doyles house was named UNDERSHAW. It is a school now but for many years was a hotel
Hello Graham, wow, I wish I had known that at the time but I've kept a screenshot. That's really interesting, especially about the properties and their status anxiety :-)
I loved Jeremy Brett in Sherlock Holmes and yes, I still watch it. This was a very good vlogg. It would have been even better if it had just been you with no interruptions! Sorry.
Hello Jacqueline, thank you. I Jeremy was a super guy in real life He had the great sense of humour. I do most of the films on my own but Rena wanted to be on three of them because they have favourite people so I'm not going to deny that. All the best, Alan
If you sit on the Bench and look straight ahead you will see the horse chestnut memorial tree, just a few yards beyond a bigger older tree just in front of you across the path.
@@MotorHomeBeepBeep Generally Basil Rathbone plays a character called Sherlock Holmes, but only once did he actually play the Holmes of Doyle. That would have been in the Hound of the Baskervilles. He did one more Victorian era Holmes, which was not based on Doyle's work but on William Gillette's play. After that they were all WWII era films, firmly planted in that time frame which saw him battling Nazis and travelling to America. They were so far afield from the books that they had nothing in common but the name. Jeremy Brett performed Doyle's Holmes in all 41 episodes. They shouldn't even be compared, in my opinion - since one played a completely different character. Rathbone could have been named John Bull, Freedom Fighter and it would have been just as appropriate.
Fab video! Can i just say.......and im not moaning at all honestly.......but when you turn the camera around can you do it a bit more slowly please as it makes my eyes go funny!!!x
Your passion is admirable. ESSENTIAL though: spell his *name correctly! The click title says Shirlock; he is SHERLOCK. There is only one Jeremy Brett, so "Brett's" requires apostrophe.

Very good observations and I am going to watch the whole series again so I'll take note of that.
Jeremy was great in anything he did! But the absolute best Holmes, hands down!
