    This is exactly what good Systema is. It reminds me of Kevin Secours way of seeing this art. Spaciba!

    Systema Praha here! So natural, simple without strict positions, feel the harmony, move like a marsh and be grateful for every movement of your 'enemy' because it's blessing for you. Systema instructor in Prague is the best ! 😁

    Person attacks you
    "He needs healing..... Through Systema... "Punches him in face

    • @annoyed707
      @annoyed707 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not everything is what it seems. That, and maybe his jaw was out of whack. :)

    • @loneninja
      @loneninja 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Sometimes a punch in the face that rocks your world is what an attacker needs to release his tension. Upon awakening he may reconsider his past actions and begin the healing process in himself.

      Yeah! maybe that`s what he needed to calm down and control his agressiveness. You can see that happening a lot in mma or boxing, the guy is very agressive and once he gets KO`d or punched/kicked/ very hard or submitted, he never was as agressive as he used to (of course that is not good for a fighter but many people need to let that agressiveness behind in order to become better human beings)

    Breathing is fundamental in every fighting system I've ever heard of as well as sports and meditation etc .

    • @kension333
      @kension333 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Do you think this is exclusive to this style? Every one I've trained talks about the importance of controlling your breathing in tense situations to not expend unnecessary amounts of energy.

    Thanks for this video. For many years now, I have had an interest in this art for some years. Your video has explained it better than any I have seen. Many other videos either give the art a mythical unbelievable image, or a this is fake fighting art video....so thanks.

    • @matthillsystema
      @matthillsystema  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Cam, a real benefit of Systema is that anyone can practice. It begins with improving breath work, and we can all do that. There are no set forms, so you adapt the principle based approach to suit your capability. Good luck!

      Hi, you can try Vladimir Vasiliev's school locator tool on his website: www.russianmartialart.com/schoollocator.php or there are several books that you can try if you do an amazon search and you can start to understand Systema and build your skills. Good luck with your journey! Please feel free to email me: matt@matthill.co.uk if you would like to find out more.

    • @HeinrichKonig

      Well, it's not made very clear in this vid, but for me the real value of Systema lies in the knowledge of biomechanics it conveys.
      It doesn't teach you katas and set drills and the like, it teaches you core ideas like vital points, points of leverage and angles of movement, etc. The idea is you're able to apply that knowledge to defend yourself in any scenario, without being any more tense than necessary.
      If someone grabs you for example, you don't have to have trained specifically to counter such a grab, you know enough about how your body and your attacker's body works to be able to get out of the hold through improvisation.
      Naturally you're going to be more explosive in a street altercation, but this is just showing the basic mechanics of the art.
      I suggest you look up some stuff from Alex Kostic. He teaches a little bit more combat ready form of Systema. And if you want an idea of the potential power of the art, look up DK Yoo. Paul Genge also goes into a lot of detail about Systema mechanics.
      Hopefully this clears it up a bit. :)

    My friend tried this shit on me. He claimed that in 3 months, he could beat me, who has trained in kun khmer/muay thai/pradal serey. Needless to say, he did not win, and looked quite silly while doing so. In other words, it's bullshit. He told me he just needed more training. After he'd trained for a year, the result was the same. He lost, and looked dumb while doing so. Maybe it would work on an untrained attacker. Not against trained fighters.
    You shouldn't lie to people and say it works on any style, because it doesn't. It could be a place where people find a source of community, and that's a good thing. But, none of you are going to make it to UFC or be a proffesional mma athlete using systema.
    It's funny how they talk about fitness and discipline, while the guy who invented it is a 350-400lb sack of chewed bubblegum.
