After a back injury has taken me to disability I’ve decided it’s time to join the Pikeminnow bounty program fishing for income. Starting a bit late this season but I should be on the river this week. I very much enjoy your videos and I hope with some practice I get to catching coolers full myself. Thank you for sharing your outdoor adventures the videos are great.
I want to know everything about these fish, I want to start pike fishing, gives you more incentive to fishing. What time of year is good for these guys? Any depth in particular? Baits?
The season starts in may, but early on the water is colder so the fish don’t bite as much. Believe it or not, tube bass baits are very effective for these and also night crawlers, kalin grubs, panther martins, but if bait fishing only, then worms and also raw shrimp
@@jerrywilliams9101 yeah I figure I would bass fish until then. I've only caught one pike minnow on a kalin grub from the bank. First time catching this fish, first time catching on a grub as well ! It was a weird bite, kept slow swimming it as he kept pecking until I got him. I've got plans to fish for them alot throughout the summer though! I'll keep this information in mind for sure, thanks!
@@gambit2129 I got one fishing a swim bait on the color “hammer time” and another on a crawdad colored rapala fat rap, both times fishing for bass. It’s a treat to get them out of the river since they do such damage to steelhead smolt
This is EXACTLY why I will not say where I will fish these things. It’s not rocket science how to catch them, there are literally loads of these things all throughout the rivers. I caught some in Idaho on the Clearwater river which has no bounty but I know the destruction these fish have on smolts so they become raccoon food up on the bank, I actually hope I catch some when bass fishing so I can get them out of the river. I’ve literally seen 6+ pound specimens in the river chasing smolts but they are harder to catch than the smaller ones.

Yea. Fish for smallmouth and you'll catch all the squawfish you can handle

braggart.....Well, now everyone has come to Chinook Landing to fish, there is enough space for only three fishermen and we don't need more)))

Haha chinook landing is not a good pike minnow spot other than to register and launch out of, the bank fishing is generally slow.
