@tet43 It's from a movie about a theater camp for kids. I've attended theater camp for the past 8 years and believe me, TONS of students perform Sondheim songs that are well above their age range. As for this performance, for a girl her age, I think she's does absolutely fantastic. She may not completely understand what she's singing about, but from the way she performs it, I would never know that - she's quite convincing for somebody under 40...under 20 for that matter.
you know she was on broadway before this, much more of an accomplishment, and far before she was in that crappy hack of a movie conversion of such a brilliant show.
I like the song. Its really good. and Fritz is strange but a good singer. and If any of u like the Twilight books the girl who plays Fritz plays Jessica in the Twilight Movie.
I had no idea that she was Jessica inTwilight. Ive loved this movie for so long and I probably didn't notice because this character kicks ass and Jessica....well, lets just say that there's much to be desired. Although its not her fault, its Stephanie Myers
@@andorsey89 Again, missing the point. I guess I have to spell it out, although I can't believe I have to. The blonde is supposed to not be as good. That is. The whole. Point. Of this plot element.
@PERRYOL I never said the singing wasn't good, I merely stated that the singing wasn't the greatest, but it wasn't supposed to be. That is the charm of the movie.
@tet43 Haha, I can definitely see that. I once saw a high school production of "Follies" and even though the cast was pretty talented, I couldn't help but laugh at the idea of a handful of teenagers performing a show about confronting your short-comings and a life's worth of regrets during middle age. But thank you as well for the follow-up, when you put it in that light, I can see where you're coming from.
@tet43 To your point that I will feel very different about the song when I'm 50, I have no doubt. While I understand the song's general meaning and its place in the show, I'd be lying if I said I can personally relate to the sentiment. In any event, I apologize if I came off too strong or offensive, it was certainly not my intention. My years of theater camp both witnessing and performing Sondheim numbers *clearly* written for adults has made me biased on the subject, I suppose.
She did musical theater as a child. She was nominated for Tony Awards years before this or any other movie. Twilight is barely a blip worth noticing in her acting career.
Camp is a really great movie -- especially if you were into theatre in high school. Sure the singing and acting aren't the greatest, but this movie is more entertaining and thought provoking than pop culture dribble such as High School Musical. Anna Kendrick is spectacular.
I hate the blonde in the movie, the actress and the character... i think they could've gotten someone better for the blonde's role... But I love Anna Kendrick, she's a way better actress than everyone else on this movie... love the song too
@tet43 Well that was a rather harsh reading of my comment - I don't think I was coming across as "willfully ignorant", and I'm certain I wasn't trying to portray you as a misguided fool. Then again, perception is everything as both of our comments demonstrate nicely. I was merely trying to voice my own opinion: that for a young girl to be singing this song within the context of the film makes perfect sense and that her performance, given her age and inexperience, is commendable.
Terrific scene from terrific movie. Thanks for posting it. I love her speech: "She's f---d, I'm ready, and the goddamn show must go on."
Her little speech...still hysterical!
Anna Kendrick's Recurring Theme Tally:
Graduate Student - 2
Bun In The Oven - 2
Featuring a Vomiting Vocalist - 2

@Wordless06 hecks yea she really transitions as an actress from this mean girl to a poular ditz....i love it!!
the blond girl acting sucks, while anna is good. ironic since this takes place in a performing arts camp
Heh, sorta missed the point there
Her dancing, singing AND acting sucks man lol
@@andorsey89 Again, missing the point. I guess I have to spell it out, although I can't believe I have to. The blonde is supposed to not be as good. That is. The whole. Point. Of this plot element.
@@jzapert First i was not talking to you at all. Second I wasnt talking about her character i was saying her as an actress....sucks
Man... I was getting all into it until it cut off at the end... But thanks for posting this, I love this song.

She probably just grew, man. She was 15 in Camp. Twilight came like, six years later.
ducksrevil she was 18 in camp
vintage babe camp came out in 2003, she is now 30 so she was 16 in this
well this movie was also made 6 years ago...so...yeah
shes form twilight!!! hahah jessica
I hate how people only know her cause of Twilight..
i would've never guessed she would've grown up to do twilight instead of musical theater
She did musical theater as a child. She was nominated for Tony Awards years before this or any other movie. Twilight is barely a blip worth noticing in her acting career.

OH NO! you cut her off?=[ lol. She's so good.
Who was she in Twilight?????

*Kendrick
ummmm she was like 16 when she made this movie and normally girls tend to get cheastier if they gain weight which she has but not in a bad way
The audience hahaha they don't get it. hahaha
she skipped some verses and the bridge, and she should have given jill more woolite and gone on sooner. this song is very late in company.
