I appreciate this Annie due to its stunning historical accuracy to its time period portrayed. The 1930s were a very turbulent time in American history snd this portrays it in such an amazing way. The dialogue, the slang used even, the fact that the orphanage is utterly overflowed with Children which was what youd see during that time. As a fan of history this Annie hits it out of the park for me on all cylinders with the second best in my opinion being the Tony Award winning og 70s music.
It occurs to me all these years later: Miss. Hannigan is meant as an image of Annie's grownup destiny. Same red curly hair and how poverty can grind down hope and happiness.
There's a theory miss hannigan is Annie's real mother because of their similar hairstyles and that that's why she decided to protect Annie from her brother when he tried to kill her

@@richardphillips1971 Miss hannigan isn't her real mother it's confirmed that Annie's parents died miss hannigan never told annie this because according to the novelization she was waiting for the right opportunity to break the news to her like if she did something really horrible but I don't think their mother and daughter they just have similar hairstyles and maybe that's just but I don't think their mother and daughter I think I'm having similar hairstyles is just coincidental but that was what I thought when I first watched the movie and her protecting Annie in the climax was probably because she may be evil but she had standards and truthfully even if they're a relationship was full of abuse she's probably the closest thing Annie and the other orphans had to a mother figure
Grace Farrell always kind of reminded me a bit of Mary Poppins. She was like the kind, young nanny who had come to make Annie’s life better and happier. She looks a lot like the young Julie Andrews did in that movie too and even sounds a bit British.
