Kayali's genius has very little to do with the fragrances themselves, but everything to do with marketing. No one markets a fragrance like them; no one. Calling their fragrances "niche", but selling them at designer prices, all the while forwarding the message that their fragrances are made to be layered (which will only lead to consumers buying 5 or 6 fragrances so they can layer), is brilliant.

They know that the majority of influencers, whether they like the fragrance or not, will never review it negatively or be as explicit about their dislike, for obvious reasons. Even in cases where the reviews are not overwhelmingly positive, the influencer often ends up touting many of the company's storylines ("it's not ___ because it's not meant to be ___; it's not ___, but it's meant to be layered with _____")Not only that, Kayali capitalizes, like no other, on FOMO. It is truly interesting to watch.
You are spot on with this assessment! I also think they've tapped into the side of the fragrance community that loves a good aesthetic and judges things by how instagrammable they are lol. Sometimes it feels like they're more geared towards this and the fragrances are an afterthought. That's definitely how I feel about this newest release because let any other brand have put out a scent this underwhelming, and the response would look very very different.

I get what you mean by the smell not being the same as the taste but pistachio gelato doesn’t smell citrusy at all and you can smell creaminess, obviously the pistachio and some sweetness. I don’t understand the need for citruses in this fragrance 🤷🏾♀️
Love the eye shadow! I have been hearing the same thing you are saying. I'm still going to purchase it. Wish it was a gourmand as that is how it's advertised but sounds like I'll still like it!
I just received my bottle yesterday , I really like it once it dries down. I sprayed it on my wrist yesterday afternoon and smelling my wrist at 5:32am watching your review and it’s still there. I love it when people ask what I’m wearing this is one of those scents that last to me for hours and overnight on me. I do want to try another Kayali the Vanilla Royals, I’m pleased with the Butning Love Fest Cherry as well.
