The cars are great to watch, but I like the 50s domestic architecture as well: very 'homely' and pleasant, much more human that the overblown McMansions of today. Although, the cars we so wide they could seat 5 abreast!
I watched HP a few years ago when I was enjoying the stay-at-home sport of chemo-radiotherapy for cancer. They were a great diversion while I lost weight and got radiation burns in an unfortunate place. Happily all better now, but great to come back to HP. Fabulous 'cosy' series. Love it.
Also, I'd love to see the locations used in the series today. CA (I assume) was a very different place then.

Pop can of today , crushing every person involved , plus , the steering wheel bolted to the frame , and would break off and cut you to pieces, or just pin you to roof and crush you like a tootsie roll . My dad had 53 merc, 57 dodge , 62 merc, never had a wreck with his wife and 5 kids in it But we saw lots of real greasy ,bloody wreaks over the years. And the first people on the seen ,helped get the survivors out and then the dead.No jaws of life , manpower lifting cars off people . But I was amazed how those big cars just went to pieces or crushed up.

Lazarus0357 I'm still a Baby Boomer but I'm 54. I was never a kid,so I do remember quite alot, plus I started school in 1966 when I was 4. Even family are amazed at what I remember. Maybe because I wanted to,and did. Our Father didn't make a dummy here, and He forgot my rose coloured glasses, and vaccinated me with a Victrola needle which since I lost my Husband to cancer in 2004, He may regret. haha I talk to Him all the time. I was never a Soccer Mom, but a supper making, floor scrubbing,Holiday specials housewife. The kind that used to be at one time. Today, my Daughter is married, has her own son, lives in Alabama, and I have been alone since 2004, I have no idea what to do. I am selling my house so I can move back to Jacksonville,Florida, and trying to lay a mosaic ceramic tile kitchen floor. Having rheumatoid arthritis makes that hard and I have to do it in sections. I did a lot of work here myself. My late Husband didn't make it here, and I moved here 2 months after he passed. I've been here 12 years and miss civilization. I'm in the country in South Carolina, just east of Columbia. I miss the sun, the city and the beaches. Plus, being here and having lost my Husband December 17,2004 I am reminded every time Winter comes. In Fla,I won't be reminded,it'll be warmer. He was 45 and got lung cancer from brick dust. He was a bricklayer.

I'm old enough to just remember pop-up air scoops for cab ventilation with wire mesh bug screens in them. They were front and center, between the hood and the windshield. I want to say they were on Fords and Studebakers, but my memory is a bit hazy there. What I can't remember is how they were deployed from inside the car.

Anyone know anything about the camera 'telescoping' (if thats a correct term / ?) thing you see in these episodes in which the camera lens appears to begin go in to close up but then stops and then the camera seems to tilt, go back to normal, tilt again before returning to where it was before this 'thing' starts to happen ? I watched this show as a very young child back in the 50s so that was too long ago me to recall if it appeared this way back when the show first aired.
And 'thank you' to whomever it is that went through the trouble to upload these ! I'm having a hoot of a time reminiscing. Ol' Broderick was a hoot ! Yes they can be corny, unrealistic at times but overall its a very well paced and acted show. Broderick commands ones attention doesn't he ?
