In one of his interviews he stated his legs will always be in pain. It was described as if his bones are on fire. When he is standing up playing guitar with his old band he is always lifting up his legs to likely get some relief. He stated he has been in pain for so many years he couldn't imagine what having no pain would be like. It is a foreign concept.
Oh, Kelly, my heart hurt reading this and I have tears in my eyes. I know that pain so well. The number of times I've described it as feeling like i have "firewater running under my skin," or like Ren said, "my bones are on fire" is too many to count. It breaks my heart knowing he feels the same. I've also said the exact same thing about not even remembering what it's like to not be in pain every day, it's a foreign concept, indeed. I kid you not, those are the exact words I've used. Oh my goodness, thank you for taking time to type this out.
Living with neuropathy (diabetic) I am always in pain myself. Luckily my pain is controlled at night to help with sleeping. There a blend of numbness and pain 7x24. So I emphasize with on Ren on this issue.

I had been really down for a few weeks. I’d been hiding from the world. And while the world is still awful, this song helped me reconnect. It brought me some peace. I’m so thankful for Ren. I think Ren need to sing the words of Angie (I’ve been lost) from his first breakdown at the Fred again concert. I think you and many of us (if not all of us) needed to hear and feel these words. Especially to know that we are not alone with whatever darkness, situations, or illness each if use are dealing with. If not us then a family or dear friend is dealing with in which we feel helpless in helping with. Fred (Fred Again) was dealing with the situation of his girlfriend who was sick at the time of creating this song. When Ren looked to his right twice at Sick Boi illuminated logo during his Angie part just hit my hard and affected my deeply.
I guess I forgot who Ren was for a second because I wasn't expecting a fun "throwaway" live mashup of EDM tracks to be so utterly utterly wonderful and powerful. Another great reaction, thank you Becca!

The part where he goes ive been lost always gets me crying. Theres so much pain in his voice. I know what that foreign concept of no pain is too. I od'd on fentynal in 2017 which caused my kidneys to shut down making me septic and made my legs swell resulting in having to have cuts on both sides of my legs for relief. The swelling caused nerve damage. Now my feet feel like they are being stabbed with a million needles 24/7. Weed helps. Thank god. It makes it tolerable but the pain never goes away.
That I've been lost part means so much to me cuz for years I was a junkie being lost. But I've been sober for a Lil over 5 years and I'm fuckin trying!!!

Oh gosh, I’m so, so sorry to hear that your Lyme has come back. I can only imagine how hard that must be to swallow, knowing exactly what you’re in for and having in come over you again anyway. I’m truly sorry. I hope that you’re able to defeat it again soon, I understand not being well enough to handle the treatment right now, but I really hope you can rid yourself of it quickly and easily. If you haven't already encountered it you should look up the song Patience that Ren wrote over 8 years ago - before his lyme disease diagnosis and still struggling to get answers. Look at the one on the Ayesha Jones page - he performed it in an interview of some sort. Since first hearing it a few week ago, i listen to it at least once a day and get very emotional every time I hear it.
It's been on my radar, but I may have to just get to it sooner rather than later. I'm so glad it's been a source of healing and/or catharsis for you since finding it. Songs like that are just so wonderful.

Oh the power of this song/performance. Especially after Ren posted about how he broke down at the concert. His performance did the same thing to me. He has a gift of saying the exact words I need to hear at the time I need to hear them. I relate so much to him in this one and to you in this reaction. From the "leave me alone" to the "courage my soul" to "I've been lost but I've been trying..." This is true magic. The expression on his face in the last section just about broke me. I live in the same town that Ren is currently in and I had a really hard time not going and hugging him (not that I would ever intrude on his privacy that way). I knew all these songs before, they are dance songs, club songs, I never listened to the lirycs or they had no effect on me, I was at the premiere of Ren mash-up, I expected the same effect, Ren's performance completely broke me, my daughters were next to me , I had to explain to them why I was crying, none of these songs would sound the same to me anymore. I was the person who remarked on your theological books. I am a catholic leaning Anglican and I feel very similar to you. I have had horrendous mental issues and suicidal tendencies. I think Ren's questioning theism is very impressive. I am also a huge fan of Bach and Beethoven, belief in God is tough and doesn't make it any easier, its something we know not something we do!!

I can’t tell you, the number of times I’ve sat down to record, and while making sure my camera is angled correctly, I’ve caught sight of my books up there and thought of your comment about them. I feel you so deeply, and I am heartbroken to know that you have experienced so much of this pain firsthand, as well. Yes, it was from the overture for Screeches Tale. I was so excited to have finally, in a long time, made it to a Ren premiere. But when he went from “ pull me out of this “ ….” Everybody everybody everybody…leave me alone … I’m battling …” I officially Broke 😭 And that last verse just broke my heart. He’s still struggling, battling and, despite reaching a certain level of acceptance you can tell that he’s still feeling lost ( and loss ). I love him, his heart, his wisdom, his empathy, his beautiful soul. I’ve been lost , I’ve been lost…for a while. But I’m really trying… “ Sobbing then. Sobbing now. And Becca I am so wishing that I was there with you so I could wrap my arms around and sob in solidarity. I don’t know what the cause is but I have felt a burning sensation under my skin , wrapping itself around my chest and back…on fire, every single day and night. For almost 3 years. ‘Though the night is dark’ broke me…..it took me back to so many nights I had during my chemo and transplant recovery…..but those nights, so often it was music that got me through until I was able to get back to dancing to it again. Fredagain is another of my favourite artists. I was so excited to hear Ren was going to be paying homage to Fred……and he did! Ren’s song choices were so inspired for this ……paid homage to Fred whilst telling his own story. This mash up has been on repeat since the drop…..and there’s been excitement, tears, goosebumps and singing from the top of my lungs. It’s different each time. Seeing your reaction…💜🫂 visually seeing it really hit home for you…..Ren’s music makes us feel.

I'm not a Christian but I grew up really devoted. When he's really singing the "I've been lost" towards the end, it reminded me of some of the live worship cds I used to listen to. Musically I love it, even if not in a religious way. Just the pure emotion and desperation.
I love how you pointed out the power as well as the pain of that last section. Chronic pain can make you lose yourself but the strength to battle back against that is a beautiful thing and people are often bad at giving themselves credit for that. I think it's because we feel the strength of the struggle as well as the pain in Ren's performance that it touches our souls. Thanks for the wonderful, honest reaction Becca.
Think about how you admire and love Ren because he's felt lost and he's had so many health crises but he's really trying. And his trying lifts up and heals so many others who feel lost. I go back to this phrase, sometimes, often when I get one of the few doubters in the comment section, telling me, I am “overreacting“ or faking, whatever emotions I’m sharing. But the jokes on them, because if they paid me $1 million, I would not be able to fake emotion, I am notoriously and historically terrible at that, so it means the world to me when I’m able to share so openly, and when others Let me know they appreciate or are able to connect with it.

Unfortunately, eating disorders take no mercy and do not discriminate-I’ve been fighting mine for 20+ years now, but am so determined to finally tsk back my life. Especially since I’ve had a resurgence of Lyme and some other health issues flare recently, I need to take care of the anorexia recovery side of things more than ever. It’s been hard, because with my physical illnesses, it’s impossible to access the level of eating disorder treatment I actually need, so we’ve been trying to piecemeal treatment on our own the past 2.5 years. Each time I hear it, though, it hits a little deeper, and I love it. Given your Lyme disease relapse and struggles with faith, I once again recommend Ren's "Seven Sins" lyric video. Buckle up, though, because it will hit hard. Edit: I've checked out Fred Again as a result of this mash-up. I will be listening to more. I've never listened to EDM, mostly because I, too, get a sensory overload from what little I have heard. Fred Again, though, is a master of making extremely simple phrases powerful. In one of his interviews he stated his legs will always be in pain. It was described as if his bones are on fire. When he is standing up playing guitar with his old band he is always lifting up his legs to likely get some relief. He stated he has been in pain for so many years he couldn't imagine what having no pain would be like. It is a foreign concept.
Oh, Kelly, my heart hurt reading this and I have tears in my eyes. I know that pain so well. The number of times I've described it as feeling like i have "firewater running under my skin," or like Ren said, "my bones are on fire" is too many to count. It breaks my heart knowing he feels the same. I've also said the exact same thing about not even remembering what it's like to not be in pain every day, it's a foreign concept, indeed. I kid you not, those are the exact words I've used. Oh my goodness, thank you for taking time to type this out.
Living with neuropathy (diabetic) I am always in pain myself. Luckily my pain is controlled at night to help with sleeping. There a blend of numbness and pain 7x24. So I emphasize with on Ren on this issue.

I think Ren need to sing the words of Angie (I’ve been lost) from his first breakdown at the Fred again concert. I think you and many of us (if not all of us) needed to hear and feel these words. Especially to know that we are not alone with whatever darkness, situations, or illness each if use are dealing with. If not us then a family or dear friend is dealing with in which we feel helpless in helping with. Fred (Fred Again) was dealing with the situation of his girlfriend who was sick at the time of creating this song.
When Ren looked to his right twice at Sick Boi illuminated logo during his Angie part just hit my hard and affected my deeply.
I guess I forgot who Ren was for a second because I wasn't expecting a fun "throwaway" live mashup of EDM tracks to be so utterly utterly wonderful and powerful. Another great reaction, thank you Becca!

The part where he goes ive been lost always gets me crying. Theres so much pain in his voice. I know what that foreign concept of no pain is too. I od'd on fentynal in 2017 which caused my kidneys to shut down making me septic and made my legs swell resulting in having to have cuts on both sides of my legs for relief. The swelling caused nerve damage. Now my feet feel like they are being stabbed with a million needles 24/7. Weed helps. Thank god. It makes it tolerable but the pain never goes away.
That I've been lost part means so much to me cuz for years I was a junkie being lost. But I've been sober for a Lil over 5 years and I'm fuckin trying!!!

If you haven't already encountered it you should look up the song Patience that Ren wrote over 8 years ago - before his lyme disease diagnosis and still struggling to get answers. Look at the one on the Ayesha Jones page - he performed it in an interview of some sort. Since first hearing it a few week ago, i listen to it at least once a day and get very emotional every time I hear it.
It's been on my radar, but I may have to just get to it sooner rather than later. I'm so glad it's been a source of healing and/or catharsis for you since finding it. Songs like that are just so wonderful.

Oh the power of this song/performance. Especially after Ren posted about how he broke down at the concert. His performance did the same thing to me. He has a gift of saying the exact words I need to hear at the time I need to hear them. I relate so much to him in this one and to you in this reaction. From the "leave me alone" to the "courage my soul" to "I've been lost but I've been trying..." This is true magic. The expression on his face in the last section just about broke me. I live in the same town that Ren is currently in and I had a really hard time not going and hugging him (not that I would ever intrude on his privacy that way). I knew all these songs before, they are dance songs, club songs, I never listened to the lirycs or they had no effect on me, I was at the premiere of Ren mash-up, I expected the same effect, Ren's performance completely broke me, my daughters were next to me , I had to explain to them why I was crying, none of these songs would sound the same to me anymore. I was the person who remarked on your theological books. I am a catholic leaning Anglican and I feel very similar to you. I have had horrendous mental issues and suicidal tendencies. I think Ren's questioning theism is very impressive. I am also a huge fan of Bach and Beethoven, belief in God is tough and doesn't make it any easier, its something we know not something we do!!

I was so excited to have finally, in a long time, made it to a Ren premiere. But when he went from “ pull me out of this “ ….” Everybody everybody everybody…leave me alone … I’m battling …” I officially Broke 😭 And that last verse just broke my heart. He’s still struggling, battling and, despite reaching a certain level of acceptance you can tell that he’s still feeling lost ( and loss ). I love him, his heart, his wisdom, his empathy, his beautiful soul.

‘Though the night is dark’ broke me…..it took me back to so many nights I had during my chemo and transplant recovery…..but those nights, so often it was music that got me through until I was able to get back to dancing to it again.
Fredagain is another of my favourite artists. I was so excited to hear Ren was going to be paying homage to Fred……and he did!
Ren’s song choices were so inspired for this ……paid homage to Fred whilst telling his own story. This mash up has been on repeat since the drop…..and there’s been excitement, tears, goosebumps and singing from the top of my lungs. It’s different each time.

I love how you pointed out the power as well as the pain of that last section. Chronic pain can make you lose yourself but the strength to battle back against that is a beautiful thing and people are often bad at giving themselves credit for that.

Think about how you admire and love Ren because he's felt lost and he's had so many health crises but he's really trying. And his trying lifts up and heals so many others who feel lost. I hope you can see the parallel and know that what you're feeling is deep and human, and even the best people struggle with it, and even Ren has to try really hard... and maybe that will re-create or begin to strengthen your faith. 💘

I go back to this phrase, sometimes, often when I get one of the few doubters in the comment section, telling me, I am “overreacting“ or faking, whatever emotions I’m sharing. Yes! I love when he goes into that style, and the fact that he added that Easter egg in there amidst all the other styles (and apparently some of that guitar section was taken from Fred Again’s instrumental, someone pointed out to me in a comment). The way he weaves a connected thread throughout so many of his songs and videos blows my mind.

Unfortunately, eating disorders take no mercy and do not discriminate-I’ve been fighting mine for 20+ years now, but am so determined to finally tsk back my life. Especially since I’ve had a resurgence of Lyme and some other health issues flare recently, I need to take care of the anorexia recovery side of things more than ever. It’s been hard, because with my physical illnesses, it’s impossible to access the level of eating disorder treatment I actually need, so we’ve been trying to piecemeal treatment on our own the past 2.5 years. I do appreciate your prayers.💕

I’m behind on replies, but thank you, friend. It definitely is something that tends to hit deeper the more you listen, at least that’s also been the case for me. (Though it also clearly really got me the first time, albeit partly because I checked the lyrics after he sang them)
I’m definitely eager to get to Seven Sins (and more off the Sick Boi album), it’s just felt daunting thus far. But I may have to try to do that one in my next recording session, it keeps coming up in the comments so I have no idea it’s a tour de force in its own right.
