Part 5. Demolition of the RCA Building in the Rosslyn area of Arlington, Virginia. The street was closed off for two weekends so that the part of the building cantilevered over the street could be demolished. It was built in 1969. It is being replaced by a 27-story apartment building.
Produced by John Z Wetmore, producer of "Perils For Pedestrians".

WTF! RCA went out of existence decades ago. I worked for RCA in Indianapolis when I graduated from engineering school in 1978

I had an RCA boom box in the 2000s. had CD/Cassette/FM and AM radio.

In 1989 RCA was sold to Thompson Electronic. The CED video disk did it in for that company.

@@danielbelisle2817 RCA is not a "brand" that is used on a lot of things nowadays. I don't know who owns the intellectual property for that brand but it is slapped on cheap Chinese made stuff.

Hey John, I have a question. I just got a gopro and can record in 1080p/60fps, 2.7k/60fps with wide-view, or 4k 30 fps. Which do you recommend for demolition?

I record 1080p/60fps because that is what my not-so-new camera can do. I've never used the other two. I recommend recording several minutes of a demolition in each of the three, see how they look on your computer, and then see how they look when TH-cam finishes processing them. My prediction is that 4k will look the best.

What is the expectation on how long it will take to demolish this building.? Is this the most efficient way to do this? Is this the cheapest way to do this? What other options are there? Would it make sense to chip away from the top down until your comfortable to just demolish the support pillars at the bottom and let the building fall on itself.? Just curious. No criticism just want to understand how this process works.

Implosion with dynamite is much faster but the dust and sound could be an issue.

Amazing camera work but sometimes I like your full machine view while demolishing the best. Just curious have you ever asked any demo companies if you could in can view ?

The only thing I ask the demo companies is where their next demo will be. Maybe in the future.
