This show has turned on the tears many many times. The episode where the man who accepts the baby, who obviously isn't his because the baby is black. That had me crying the hardest. The other time it had me really crying is when the young man at the home for disabled and abandoned children talks about the cookie factory nearby and how they were given the broken ones. The double meaning in that statement heartbreaking and sweet at the same time.
I love the Turners' love story and think it's so inspiring that Shelagh didn't lose all her faith just because she decided not to be a nun anymore. She is still the same loving and kind person, but just living out her true calling now. I also love to see how their family grows and expands and goes through challenges.
This show pulled me out of my suicidal depression. I was struggling with various issues like gambling and women and drugs and booze... Then I discovered this show and it set my life back on track.

There are so many "MOMENTS" in this show - my most emotional one is the 1st Christmas ... when Jenny takes the elderly "former workhouse resident" (Mrs. JENKINS) to the churchyard - to visit her children's graves. Children she had not known there "whereabout for 50 years. It filled the woman's heart, gave her some sense of peace - & certainly filled my heart, too.
I thought the episode in which Chummy almost died after giving birth was particularly excellent. The entire ensemble worked so perfectly together. I was on the edge of my seat and then I cried with relief at the end.
I enjoyed the episode where Trixie delivers a baby to a girl on a Swedish ship whose father, the ship's captain, had used his daughter as a prostitute to keep his crew happy! The birth of a baby girl gave the lass her freedom and love and she declared that she would leave the ship and bring up the baby where they could walk on green grass.
As good as that was that story is sadder than the show portrayed it. In the book the Captain her father was also having sex with her and it was Chummy who delivered the baby without assistance and when Sister Juliene went back later that morning to check on mother and baby the ship had left the docks because women weren't allowed on the docks and ships it was illegal and an arrestable offence the Captain could have also been kicked out of the service for sexually exploiting his daughter and bringing her aboard the ship.
@@LordMarvin1993 most of the stories are true to the books but some of the stories were changed. I have to say Mrs Jenkins from the first Christmas Special her story in the book is so heartbreaking

I wish we got to see more of Patsy and Delia happy and I hoped for a storyline of Delias mother accepting their relationship as well, but that was probably pushing it too much for the time period.
I loved their relationship. It was so pure and lovely. Homosexuality is something I’m happy they tackled and they gave them a happy ending that we needed, unlike Cynthia. I was never happy with her ending on the show.
Just in case anyone is curious in real life Jack Ashton (rev.tom) got a happy ending,he is in a long term relationship with costar Helen George (trixie) and they have two lovely baby girls together.
The most shocking moment was the reveal who the home abortionist is, a few seasons ago. I cried so much, especially how it impacted one of the characters. Love Nurse Crane, her reaction to her Spanish lover was perfect. I adore her as a character! Cynthia was another favourite of mine. The rule is you have to cry at least once an episode, I think!
Trixie is my favourite but I also love Sheelagh, Patrick, Sister Evangelina and Valerie the episode where she discovers her gran is the abortionist was heartbreaking

@@wickedwitchoftheeast88 I know, I've had the pleasure of reading all three of Jennifer Worth's memoirs that the show draws from (the last two are on Scribd if anyone is interested) and I also worked as a nurse, although not as a midwife. Gosh there really are uncountable best moments, a glorious 12 seasons is not enough. One of the first few episodes where a Spanish woman with over a dozen kids, hits her head and almost loses her baby made me go through the motions. Another comes to mind where a mother of 5 who was forced to give up her child years ago, reconnects with him introducing the rest of the family to him. He had a rough life and never felt wanted but when the mum said I think there’s an iced bun missing that made me teary eyed.

Great video, what about the following scenes?: Season 2 Christmas epi: Jenny showing Mrs. Jenkins the graves of Mrs. Jenkins children. Season 5: Monica Joan bathing Cynthia after Cynthia was so brutally attacked. Made my blood curl, pitch-perfect acting of both actresses. Also Season5: Rhoda meeting her little Susan for the first time and immediately accepting her handicapped daughter. Season 3: Chummy giving Artemis her last manicure. So beautifully and sensitively written and again top-notch acting. Season 7: Group cuddle after Barbara's death and above all Phyllis sitting alone outside, crying over her best friend's passing.
The real Sister Evangelina was buried in Poplar when she died, she asked that she be buried with her people and she was really loved by the people of Poplar everytime she went out they all greeted her and called her Sister Evie, in the book she was just as blunt and firm with the patients and the scene where she farted to get Mrs Jenkins trust is also true as well lol
Sorry but i think 3 should be at least 2 if not 1. When they put her shoes on the coffin. It was like they do at a police or fire service funeral with their hats and helmets and was a nod to the fact she is just as important in society. This is the one i cry at every time i watch it

The carousel moment was the most beautiful. It looked like a snow globe scene come to life. Of course, that made it all the more devastating when Barbara died. I was crushed. Not too long after, I stopped watching CtM, simply because its stories caught up to my era and I had no interest in reliving that.

Thanks
There ‘s so many moments. Lucile’s , miscarriage was so sad and seeing Phyllis outside the door broke me
I still miss Chummy
I had same what Barbara had at age 9 n survived it. Left me with scars down my legs and ankle and my 🫏 cheeks, few on hands but nothing noticeable but I lived. Now age 27 I have heart condition and high blood pressure which sucks.
I really liked this series
I needed a Patsy & Delia moment…🥺
Hello Daniella
“We don’t like cake!”
This is a great show. Shelagh is one of my favorite characters, so I thought your number 1 was perfect.
I am watching CTM for the third time becouse its miraculous.
You forgot Dr.Turner and his wife have the baby was nice.
It's 96% commentary and 4% footage. Tragic.
Sister Monica Joan is the best
The carousel moment was the most beautiful. It looked like a snow globe scene come to life.
Of course, that made it all the more devastating when Barbara died. I was crushed.
Not too long after, I stopped watching CtM, simply because its stories caught up to my era and I had no interest in reliving that.
It will be a shame when it comes to an end as it will do soon as this type of nursing was ended in early 1970s
Ps I cry my eyes out every episode
I watched today 3 episodes of season 7 in a row.... ibcluding barbaras death and I had to go for a tall glass of water cause I needed to re-hydrate
Susan should have been on this list
I love the community, support and love for people in this show. If we had more support and community today, more women would love their birth story and breast feed more often.
Oh, my, gosh, BARBRA DiES?!?! That had to be farther up the list!!!!
Phyllis’s reaction when Barbara dies left me shattered. Their friendship was so lovely.
I'm always crying with call the midwife and recently got hot under the collar but the midwife should get a universal emmy .
Barbra was number one for me 🥺🥺🥺🥺🥺
Barbara's death was definitely higher than #6
Bring Jenny back! I love her
