if a player wants a release clause when you talk to their agent about their contract there is an option to say to the agent that you think it would be best if no terms were locked and everything was negotiable. its works a lot for me and lets you remove and exclude a release clause that would otherwise be orange and they will usually respond with asking for a higher wage
Yeah 100% - remove and exclude from negotiations before contract. Sometimes still comes up but can try get around it. Give them a new contract every year before transfer windows until you can get rid of it
@SteveAustin-zv1nn it's rare but it does happen sometimes if a player is dubious of signing for you they will require some promises to even start negotiating wage, I always remove all of them and then if they say no I re add the ones they had 1 by 1 (starting with the ones I think are easier to achieve) until they agree to negotiate
Ah, Andy Harwood. Always pops up (one of the regen names hardcoded in the game as i think he works on the game). Seems to often be a great player, usually a LB...
Imo around 3-3.5 team reputation it can be kinda tough. The players good enough to take you to the next level don't want to join your club or you can't afford them and the talents you can get takes 2 years to get to your teams level. But if you grind it out and do decent in international competitions everything gets better with a little more rep.
You are losing guys to 70M clauses? Try managing in a smaller country and see how your top players get poached for peanuts. Takes a lot of negotiation for something to go over 10M.
If you reject an offer and they get hissy about leaving, make the promise of you only sell them above a certain value and then after set his asking price to 0. You only get offers of 0 and the player will drop the promise after 2-3 transfer windows
@@blahblah8471 That was what I did in FM22, but eventually it became unsustainable with good players, unless you are doing really well. 50k salary in England is way better than 10k in eastern Europe, for starters. They usually run down contracts and is way better to sell them.

The best way I have found to keep your best players at the club is to give them an appraisal every June. Renew their contract give them a 10-20% appraisal. They always end up signing and it deters other clubs to pay their release clause
Saw the second guy and immediately thought he needed a big dose of eastern european wonderkids. I've had so much success finding wonderkids from eastern Europe (the Balkans especially) with Strasbourg when I didn't have the financial power to go for those golden spoon wonderkids.
Yeah my southend side that won the premier league and champions league had 5 Serbians in the squad and 10 eastern Europeans mostly due to not having the reputation to plunder Brazil/argentina
@simplesimonhadapie i managed to sign at least one great wonderkid from every country in the Balkans except Bosnia. I somehow even found a very good 6'6" winger from North Macedonia.

Excellent episode, one of the best in SYS. Touches on a lot of issues at a semiadvanced level that are often overlooked. Also: "If you are not insecure financially you're not trying" Kind of true 😅 especially in some lower income leagues.
When a player has a release clause that is limited in yellow. You can put it up to the maximum and lock it, offer a contract and if he agrees, you can then up it to the maximum again and offer more wages. Repeat until the release fee is high enough that you wouldn’t mind loosing him or you reach your wage cap.
The surname Harwood is the coolest surname in the English language and it also makes me think of the Battle of river Plate since the three British cruisers in that battle were commanded by Comodor Henry Harwood and he was able to fore the German panzerschiff Admiral Graf Spee flee to the port of Montevideo and later he managed to fool the captain of Admiral Graf Spee to believe that British battlecruiser HMS Renown and aircraft carrier HMS Ark Royal had arrived to blockade Admiral Graf Spee in Montevideo which resulted capetin Langsdorff scuttling his ship

I don't think I've ever had a long-time save where I didn't have a strong Balkan/South American core in my teams. Croatia, Serbia, Uruguay and Colombia (and when the money starts flowing Argentina and Brazil) always produce afordable talent.
In my save I took over AC Milan in 2030 after managing Brazil and Inter Milan had won the league consistently from 2023-2029. AC Milan were not doing so well financially. What I did was scout wonder kids and signed them for small amount and kept them at their teams for the remainder of the season. After the 2029-2030 season I won the league and the following season I received offer for team giants like Theo Hanandez 34y/o(18m), Rafa Leao 31y/o (80m), Joao Pedro 29y/o (75m), Willian Pacho 29y/o (80m), and Ryan Gravenbech 28y/o (60m). When my wonderkids return that season their values sky rocketed and I won the league and champions league with them while having over 300m as my transfer budget. While playing the game one should not fear to sell as long as you keep an eye out for the GOAL 50 best wonderkids and signed the ones from smaller teams.
Life is random sometimes, I was actually learning about South Tyrol recently and its history! The first language there is mostly German and not Italian. Its arguable it shouldn't even be part of Italy. But thats a debate for another time somewhere else.
Maybe not so mush a wonderkid treasure trove, but a pool of decent players with potential are MLS academies. If you go to MLS academies and check out their 18yr olds and up, you usually can sign them on frees with very little if NO compensation to the MLS club. My save now I started at St Albans and moved to St VV in Belgium and both my starting CB's are from MLS academies. Plus I just sold another academy CB for $30 mil. My starting right back is from a MLS academy and he's close to $20 mil value. MLS academies are like cheat mode. Even if you are a lower leaguel club, they generally want to leave for almost any club abroad.
Love the videos, but I have a genuine question: Do you plan on changing your logo & face packs anytime soon? I assume it comes from around 2020, since Inter Milan still has the old logo and Cole Palmer has his photo from Manchester City days. Quite a time has passed, therefore comes my suggestion.
