      I agree with that, although as far as his introduction goes, I feel (as DutchBondFan pointed out when he recapped Live And Let Die) that Roger Moore's introduction was so basic; so uneventful. Sean Connery had a build towards his reveal via the cinematography and it made an instant impression when first seen saying "Bond... James Bond." Even George Lazenby had some build-up towards us first seeing him. But with Moore's first shot, he was just kind of there like he'd always been Bond.

      @@ryanodonovan9497yeah he’s so charming and natural that he pretty much fit into the role. The movie showed he can blend in and do the job, even though it’s still a scary situation. When his Allies were killed or he’s mocked he’ll make a veiled threat or mock to convey he’s freaking pissed. Perhaps it made it seem too obvious he was going to win but in films like in Man with the Golden Gun I’m glad he was shown almost trapped and on edge to the point the villain got to him. Having “Good night” be the bumbling Bond girl that nearly gets him killed and him losing his patience was funny and yet too ridiculous at the same time. Still fun though

      Roger Moore was a good actor and, by all accounts I have read, a good person. I just don’t happen to think that his Bond scripts and situations did him justice . . . With one exception: “For Your Eyes Only.” This was where I had the impression that he was portraying Ian Fleming’s James Bond. No attempt at smug cuteness, rather a straightforward spy adventure inspired by two Fleming short stories - plus a perilous situation from the novel of “Live And Let Die.” (And, none of his dated 70s fashions!) Fine direction, thrilling action, a solid script, and an excellent supporting cast. (Carole Bouquet - very hard to resist!)
      Moore was perfect as “The Saint.” And my list of favourite films includes “The Wild Geese” and “The Sea Wolves.” Watch him try something different in “The Naked Face” and “The Man Who Haunted Himself.” But his Bond films - including this one - should have been much better. “Moonraker” was simply ridiculous; and he overstayed his welcome with “A View To A Kill.”

      Indeed, it’s probably not even his main base, just one of several to keep him protected by the MI6 since he’s one of many valuable assets. M and Moneypenny are probably a few of the only ones he trusts with his locations. Fear for M since he’s pretty much like a stoic lecturing and judgmental father, and love for Moneypenny since she’s one of his closest friends in that line of work that he enjoy flirting with even though it’s basically improper to engage in relations with fellow coworkers.
      Heh the agent business is a fun and yet scary life when there’s action. But it’s boring when there isn’t, generally

    Moore is three years older, and looks at least ten years younger than Connery did in the subpar "Diamonds Are Forever". Connery was phoning it in for the pay check in that one. Would have been better for his Bond legacy if he had never appeared in the movie. "Live And Let Die" is an overall major improvement over the previous Bond movie.

    • @trwent
      @trwent 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The Bond franchise was really starting to grate on Connery, and he actually "retired" from it after his previous outing, You Only Live Twice. During the making of that movie, filmed mostly in Japan, he and his wife were hounded mercilessly by the Japanese press and fans, to the point where it was difficult for him to even go to the toilet in private. The next film, On Her Majesty's Secret Service, starred George Lazenby as 007, but Lazenby bowed out of the series after that outing and producer Cubby Broccoli convinced Connery to return for Diamonds are Forever, where he looked bored, overweight, and disinterested in a lackluster Bond film which also was not helped by Charles Gray's comically awful portrayal of Blofeld. Ironically, twelve years later, Connery would return to the part once again in the "unofficial" Bond film Never Say Never Again, where he actually looked much better than he did in Diamonds despite being twelve years older!!

    In German synchronization "The technology makes it possible". In that time we had with
    Rainer Brandt a brillant synchronization-director. Bond, Spencer/Hill, The persuaders...it`s more funny than in the orignial.
    When Bond fights in "Diamonds are forever" Bambi and Thumper he says nothing. In the German version he talks all the time: "I did not exspect a circus act". "The jungle is calling". "Mom, I'll stay here" (between Tumpers legs). In the pool when Leiter arrives: "Sweet, isn`it?"
    In "Tunderball" Bond to Colonel Bovar: "You shouldn't have opened the door yourself". In German: "You shouldn't wear penny heels with your flat feet"
