- We're taking a sneak peek at the all new die-cast SD70ACE and brass-hybrid Q2 from Broadway Limited Imports in HO Scale. These models should be hitting shelves in early November so there is still time to get your order in with our friends at Trainworld to ensure you get your models reserved.
We'd like to thank our friends at Broadway Limited Imports for lending us these pre-production samples of the Q2 and the SD70ACE for this sneak peek video. Remember, these models are pre-production samples so detailing may change on the production models.
We'd like to thank our TH-cam & Facebook members and our Patreon patrons supporting our productions.

Hooray, excited for the PRR Ho Scale Q2 Duplex locomotives
not my railroad era but that sd70 has a beautiful horn, one of the best i have ever heard on a diesel engine.
Huzzah!!!!!! I’ve been heavily looking forward to these!
I am very excited for my Q2.
NICE! I’m saving for the Tuscan red version. So excited!
Can't wait ❤
Ordered my Q2 earlier this year, got it in the Tuscan Red scheme, and I can't wait to get her on my layout!
Did you get your's yet? I'm debating on getting the Tuscan version but not sure how it'll look in person. I wasn't a fan of how the S2 looked in that scheme.
@ryantaylor3278 not yet. I'm still waiting
Also fun fact, the Q2 was designed to be a fast freight engine. To my knowledge, they were not used in passenger service, but they were probably capable of it. The Pennsy got rid of them in favor of the J1s because the railroad put certain restrictions on speeds that both freight and passenger trains could travel. The Q2s would’ve probably lasted longer if the PRR put more emphasis on fast freight instead of freight drags.
the paragon 4 prr q2 whistle is far better than the paragon 2 version. but i do hope they have a few other alternate whistles to choose from like on the paragon 4 s2 turbine or the e6 atlantic.
Was considering the CN unit until I saw that one of the biggest details for a CN is totally wrong . To bad.
I hope they improve on the firebox area on this Q2 ......
The trailing truck wheel base is too close to each other ,, the rear axle should be under the cab , not in front of it ,, the whole trailing truck needs to be pushed back at least a scale foot ...
NOT AN AIR LINE ANY WHERE ON THE TRAILING TRUCK EITHER ....
NOT ONE DETAIL !!!!!!!!
ALSO , NO BOOSTER ENGINE ON THE TRUCK ,,
BUT IT HAS THE DELIVERY BOOSTER STEAM PIPES THOUGH ,,
WHICH FOR SOME REASON , ARE WAY TO SHORT ...
The firebox needs to be closer to the last driving axle ,, there is a big space there ... WHY ???
I have ordered 2 ...
I hope that's not the final version ...
They don't even look like my other 2 paragon2 Q2'S ..
WHICH LOOK A LOT BETTER THAN THIS RUN ........................
They probably made those mods to accommodate tighter curves...
@ryantaylor3278 just received my 2 new ones , they did make mods to that area .
The draw bar was bent upwards
(( S )) shape on the parg2 , the parg4 now has a straight draw bar , and they have removed a pump on the fireman's side right behind the last driver .
The Firefox is just a bit shorter staying away from the last driver ..
On the engineers side , a much shorter water pipe mounted on the trailing truck , parg2 went to the tear of the cab , and it went farther forward ..
I'm wondering if they went with a different brass manufacturer
????
What are your radius curves ???
The tightest I have is 36 inch , I never had a problem with parg2 , but they did recommend 22 inch ..
@RobertSwickard-o1w do you prefer your older ones to the new one? Is one of your new ones the Tuscan version? I'm curious how it looks in real life, I can't find any pictures or videos of it.
I think BLI is does better with steam, for the price of that SD70 in non sound you can buy an athearn Genesis I've seen them for 270 or 285 with sound. Far better running , tsunami 2 way better sound and functionality. Here's my harsh opinion. Expensive toy like locomotive that has a tinny sound system offset response to movement and a smoke unit that resembles a cigarette left in an ash tray.
I would never go with an Athearn engine over a Broadway locomotive. I purchased an Athearn SD60M and the damn thing could barely pull 5-6 cars up a grade. My Broadway diesels can pull the yard and BLI are really upping their game detail wise on the newer releases.
Looks like the usual garbage slow speed control of Paragon...
