Anyone notice that some of the Essendon players in 1947 were wearing the sash in the reverse direction? I knew players on the same teams wore different Guernsey's in the earlier days of the sport, but didn't think they did up until this time. Amusing.
Where I live in Victoria australia - gummy shark or flake is the common fish to eat, but when I traveled interstate it was hard to find a piece was flake - which was weird. Also potato cakes ( called potato scallops in some other states ) For $11 I can get a budget pack with a piece of gummy shark, a scallop (shellfish ), crumbed 1 calamari, 1 seafood stick (gross so I swap for another calamari ) and some chips. With normal or chicken salt. $11
My grandfather is visible at 1:01:50 (mayor of Footscray). I'd love to know if longer versions of the film reel exists . I contacted NFSA but they weren't much use
1:30:00 the earliest know surviving TV footage known. Wonder how much more TV (not film shorts) survives from the 50s. this short segment was shown on 11 may 1957 3:45 - 5:10 on Ch 9 * while Ch 7 and ABC both covered Hawthorn v Melbourne 4:00 - 5:00 (The Age saturday paper)
Survived both World Wars without interuption? That is completely wrong and a disappointing start to what I hope will be a fantastic video. What was the writer thinking?
Great video of old films . some rare footage id not seen b4.

Probably due to drugs.
I’ve got both volumes of these 1&2 a great visual history of players long past and the way the game was played.

Don’t know sorry Luke.
Long versions don't use often because of the nature of the film.
I remember this
good show.
