Yes, many cities in China were previously portrayed negatively by Western media, but now there has been a big change. Places that were once considered to be backwaters have become modern, thriving cities.
American media typically casts China in a negative light every chance it gets ... but then Chinese media does likewise regarding America. The best thing we humans can do is shut off the goddamn media and experience places for ourselves.
