  • Del programa de la BBC "The Old Grey Whistle", en 1975 dos temas del primer álbum solista de Chris Squire, "Hold Out Your Hand" y "You By My Side". Presten atención al arreglo de cuerdas y metales al final y, sobre todo, las campanas tubulares. Qué tiempos!

I bought my Rickenbacker 4001 in midnite blue after i heard Chris. I later met him and got to talk with him several times, what an honor
Im 72 now my Ricke nbacker is in front of me still. I still play the 1973 liverecording of Heart of the Sunrise, Chris's bass solo is my all time favorite, i listen to it every day. God bless you Chris you are sorely missed..

its definitely between bruford and squire solo projects. But both were a bit different, Squire went to english progressive rock and the bruford solo albums touch on jazz fusion.

Jon has such an interesting timbre but it’s still set much higher than Chris’s. I would place jon a countertenor with Chris as a tenor who could reach all the way up there (wondrous stories)

I always hope someone who went on the 1978 Cross country trip from Flushing, Queens would see this comment. Someone had the cassette. I think his name was Jeff. I kept trying to record it in a quiet place. Using a microphone of another cassette recorder. I had already been in love with Yes for year's by then, (15 years old) - but didn't realize Chris had a solo album. Around the first time I saw Yes live at Nassau Coliseum after Rick left, and Moraz jumped in. It was the Relayer tour. I loved Chris Squire so much. He touched my heart deeply. He's gone a few years now. Keith Emerson, and Greg Lake...all gone. I'm not afraid to die. I believe I will be at an eternal concert....watching all my hero's. And hugging my Dad.

Clearly the best solo record of any of the Yes men. Patrick Moraz, The Story of I, a close second. I remember as a kid, blasting Yes, and mom commenting on Squire's "contrapuntal" harmonies. Made me feel erudite. I also remember being one of the first to enter the Spectrum in Philly for the Relayer tour and walking up to the stage as he finished sound check. He appeared larger than life, and that humungous Rickenbacker seemed scaled perfectly. I'll never forget him smiling down at my as I looked up in awe. And that amazement was BEFORE he started shredding on Soundchaser. An icon.

I learned the whole of this album when I picked up the bass. It was a steep learning curve but was most def worth it in the end. If you can get comfortable with CS bass lines you're pretty much styling from the on - everything seems so simple afterwards. He basically pioneered the utilisation of the bass as an instrument as big as lead guitar. Btw, merry Christmas everyone.

Squire, Moraz and Bruford. Keyboard, Bass, Drum trio I would take over ELP any day. That's how I've always seen this record. I wish Squire had followed it up. To the bassists out there, go through these songs and learn them. Beautifully crafted basslines that are somewhat difficult to play even for the accomplished player. I'm 50 and I'm twice the player I was in my twenties. But Squire was in his twenties when he recorded Hold out YourHand, Lucky Seven etc..Even You by my side is difficult in that he switches up the scales each time he plays. He is my single favorite musician. So sorry he missed being abducted in to the RnR Hall of Fame. He waited so long and deserved much better.

The more I see Geddy Lee and John Entwistle hailed as the greatest, the more I say they were no comparison to Chris Squire. Chris Squire could've joined The Who or Rush and been pretty comfortable. I think Entwistle and Lee would hesitate before they joined Yes.

I only wish more people could have the opportunity to experience it in such a meaningful way. People will find it here and get a really full experience. Bill and Patrick are wonderful on this too.

I met him several times with my good friend late Gunnar Jokull who was the drummer of the Syn back in the summer of 66 when everything happend in rock'n roll. Chris use to call me "Maggi the pipe" (just tobacco) he was a great bass guitarist one of the best and a leader wherever he came . Good bless them.

Here am I dreaming?.?. I stand by myself. Look and it's easy to see that I am not the only one reaching for a new kind of "well".... Reaching for nothing to hide, with you by my side." "Span the distance, store the resistance. Almost close enough to hold out your hand, for the treasures of the universe are at your feet." Chris Squire, Thank you for your insight and music.
