- just put together this "video" just to show the China White trilogy and show just how much this band has progressed over the years. It's truly amazing to listen to.
China White I came off of 2004's 'I Am Hollywood' and features a soft melodic sound throughout most of the song and ends on an intense chaotic breakdown.
China White II is off 2006's 'Suck out the Poison' which features Schuylar Croom's voice cracked from intense smoking over the two years, but boasts a more southern hard rock sound that is a little more gloomy than the first song.
China White III is off of 2009's 'It Hates You' and is a song that features acoustic guitars, and effected ambient guitars with Schuylar singing softly about the troubles of a farmer in drought.. A sad song to say the least but is a perfect end to this trilogy of songs.

Such an underrated band it's almost criminal.
I was talking to Schyular and the gang at their last concert. Heavy Fruit is the unofficial 4th title to this trilogy, and he wanted to write to so cryptically only true fans would hear it. I'm spilling the beans. Heavy Fruit is the epilogue.
And Now we have "The Garden".

15 Years later and I just noticed the refrain from China White I comes from Blind Melon "No Rain".... Awesome.

Should add Heavy Fruit to this! China White II still gives me the chills. Such a sinister guitar piece. The end is especially good, the music slows down and gives an impression of impending suffocation and death as the gardener is closing in on her. Thanks for putting this together.

I'm having a hard time trying to find the meaning of these songs. I feel like it could go so many ways. beautiful regardless. I love this trilogy so much

My theory is kinda fucked up, but it’s a theory. I think the gardener is deranged and doesn’t want to lose the people who are close to him, so he kills them and plants them in his garden, thinking that they’ll grow back and be with him forever once it rains

@@conorfinn1109 pretty sure that is what it's about. i've been listening to HIL for like idk, 15 years? the bands constant use of fables, childrens stories, dark beauty, etc.
the story of china white is very reminiscent of themes used in Salmon Rushdie's "Haroun and the Sea of Stories", which is also about death, etc, but portrayed with child like wonder.
