    Agree. Huge spongy feel, especially in walk mode. Amazing that the shoe comes apart at the front sizes of the shoe. I loved the look and feel of it initially but within 2-weeks it began to fray (without running). Yes, if I’m walking behind you, I’m sure you’re thinking that an Army Brigade is coming up fast - very loud.

My pr that I hit yesterday was 11 km at a pace of 4:29 per km with the tempo next %. Truely shocked at the comfort and the push these shoes give. Now I’m looking for a comfortable stability shoe for my longer slower runs.

If the complaint is you can’t run an easy run in these then go with a different pair of shoes. These are great for easy and fast runs. Handled the snow, ice, road, trail, very well.

    I did my tempo run for the very first time with these shoes.
    Thomas and Megan are spot on with their critique.
    IMO, the shoe feels clunky at slower speeds and is a bit more forgiving at faster speeds and feels more at ease at that faster tempo or speed pace.
    It is a bitter firmer than i would have imagined and the plate feels different than in the vaporfly and alphafly.
    i agree that the midsole cushion of the react foam in the heel makes along with the plate makes it feel not as responsive and propsulive as either the vaporfly or the alphafly,
    And it rides and feels a bit jolty at times.
    i also agree that that it is somewhat a loud shoe and the extra rubber sole makes the foot strike more firm than forgiving compared to the other shoes mentioned.
    Would i use it as a speed shoe? p
    robably yes, for those sessions that i want to do speed work but i wouldnt race in it and use it as my sole daily trainer or even my sole speed work shoe.
    But, this shoe imo does not feel like either the alphafly or vaporfly which i both enjoy. So knowing, that don't expect it to run like those shoes either.

  • @mimitobr
    @mimitobr 3 ปีที่แล้ว +14

    After a few runs the closest comparison of these shoes I could make would be with the Vaporfly. The energy return feeling is close - not equal, but it misses
    little -, although it does it in a different way.
    For slower paces, I’ve got a different impression. The React foam at the rear gives a firmer ride at slower paces, which are common in several types of workouts, while the Zoom X/Air at the front is still pushing you ahead. This is different from a Vaporfly, where the whole midsole is so soft that its ride only makes at faster paces, when you’re pushing. The Tempo makes sense in a wider variety of paces, being certainly more durable at the same time.
    So I see this Tempo Next% as a trainer in this way, and agree it is a shoe to be reserved for the key workouts, tempo runs, or fast sessions. It can be seen as a “cheaper” racer, because it is at least as fast as most of the racers in the market.To be honest, I think a lot of runners would feel better the energy return and this rocking felling in races with this shoe instead of a Vaporfly, as it deals better with slower paces. Bear in mind that Vaporfly is designed to excel at the highest performance, for guys that can run around 3’00/km.
    I’m loving this shoe.

      Hey Thiago! I'm considering buying this shoes. What's your impression after one full year with them? I'm so on the fence right now and need a new pair of Nike shoes and these seeemed to be the more balanced, yet exciting, option. My slow runs are paced at around 5:30/km and I would use these shoes as a daily trainer. I'm worried about the clunkiness that is talked about in the video. Do you think it will be an issue, at that pace? Thanks a lot! Hope you are having great fun :)

    • @mimitobr
      @mimitobr 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@edoardomeneghini3627 Well, after 800 km, they are still great. I wouldn't put them among the most balanced options, an all round trainer. It works for easy runs, such clunkiness is not exactly an issue at all, but you can clearly see how powerful they are in fast sessions and long runs. I normally use them in key fast paced sessions, leaving "normal shoes" for the easy ones. But well, they are always exciting, so it could fit your needs.
      And, a year later, I prefer Tempo Next over my Vaporfly 4%, and they were my choice in my 5K and 21k PB's run.

      U can feel the benefits if you run under 5:30 per km. It might cut 10-15 secs per km. It punishes you if you go slower than 5:30min per km, and rewards you for extra effort. Although, don’t use those shoes only. Use ones that have no plate, and rotate them, so you make sure you always train your calves and other parts around your ankles. And yes their line of sneakers has pretty much caters to people with narrow feet. • @baltsu
    @baltsu 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    I don't have this shoe yet because it hasn't been available in any store and I want to try it on before I make the decision but I think that mixed reviews might depend on strike. This shoe might need a forefoot strike. If one is a heel striker then those air pillars don't push him or her forward. Some people have done tests and showed that they perform worse in this shoe than in some other models and some runners find this shoe faster. Btw, I cannot wear even the Pegasus Turbo 2 for slow paces. I love the shoe when I run miles at paces that are between 5:30 and 6:30 but if I try to jog slowly, I feel that there is something wrong or loose in the midsole.
    About costs of running shoes. The list price is not everything. What counts is also how you manage your shoe rotation. When you truly reserve the most expensive and newest pairs for quality workouts then you can get much more out of the investment you made. For junk miles one can wear an older daily trainer. For faster paces you can pair this shoe with Beacon for example. I bought the v3 a week ago when it was discounted for the weekend (40% off) and it's perfectly fine for marathon pace and uptempo runs. That would leave tempo runs and paces that are even faster where one really needs to push for a more expensive shoe pair, i.e. a show with a carbon plate.

    • @baltsu
      @baltsu 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@soleman2004 i don't want to do that way because I am not a consumer. I want to be in good relationships with all sales reps and stores in the industry. Also I don't know if that policy is available in my country. If they sent me all models and I would send those back that I don't even want to test, it would be okay but right now I want first to see the shoe and then we talk about with suppliers what happens next. I can run something like 3000+ mls a year. I cannot run in every shoe because I test some trainers up to 500 mls. I have probably 20 pairs in rotation and struggle to put mls in them. So the strategy right now is to write brief reviews every week (1-2 pairs a week) and selectively test those models that I like. Not to order randomly some pairs. It doesn't make sense.

    I don't understand all the comments about this shoe not doing "slow". Well firstly, it depends what your definition of 'slow' is. Someone's 9 minute mile pace could be their fast pace, and someone's 11 minute mile pace could be their slow pace. Everyone is different. I just do tempo runs in this between 8 and 9 minute mile pace and it's absolutely fine and I've done over 50 miles in it. I agree, it's not a daily trainer, but this shoe isn't just reserved for people that run 6 or 7 minute mile paces!!

      @Believeintherun  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      We aren’t suggesting a slow or fast pace. We are saying for the individuals slow or fast pace. If you do easy miles in 11 min and above and your fast pace is 9:30, then we suspect you’ll like the shoe at the 9:30 pace over the 11 min pace.

      How do they feel when just walking around? Are they awkward or clunky? Does it feel normal to walk in them or are you aching to get into normal shoes after a run? Would you spend a whole day walking around in the mall or at Disney World?

    What are my chances liking the Tempo? Ordered the Nike By You, took ages and still waiting. My Alphafly arrived first, tested it on 3 runs and gave up. The medial side gave me arch pain on my left foot arch, felt like a stability pair. Returning them on Monday. So sad.

    Hmmm... are you sure about the weight? I haven't hold the shoe myself, but runningwarehouse listed the weight as 8.2oz for size US8, and roadtrailrun review listed the weight as 8.9oz for US9. Other sites listed similar numbers as well...
    I'm not saying it's a heavy shoe (although there are lots of tempo day shoes lighter than this one), but your info on its weight is quite far than accurate.

      Zoom Fly 3 was too heavy. In size 9.5 it was 272 grams when I put it on my scale whereas Peg Turbo 2 is 215 grams. I really hope what Thomas said is true because I prefer lighter training shoes for speed days but I am really skeptical because of two reasons. First of all, AlphaFly is not light and secondly, Tempo has even higher stack height and some React, which is heavier than ZoomX.

    When I go out for a slow easy, recovery run I don't pick my tempo day shoes. When I go out for a steady paced run I don't pick my race shoes. When I go out for my tempo days I don't wear my easy day shoes. When I race I don't wear my tempo shoes. Moral of the story.....shoes targeted for a style of run are meant for you to wear that shoe for that style of run. Why do these reviews always state the purpose of the shoe then pick apart every aspect of the shoe that it's not intended for. This shoe is for tempo based days. And if that is what it is good at then focus on that. I'm not wearing my vaporflys for recovery days and I'm not using my Hoka Clifton 8s for setting 5k P.R.s

      After a few runs, the noise wen away for me, so I'm not sure why they are still hearing it. Also, "slappy" depends on your form. If you are landing flat footed, then the large forefoot surface area will be slappy. Buy and try on Nike for 60 days for their free membership...and free shipping both ways if you return them.
