After my wife and I were retired, we moved from Illinois to Mississippi for three years doing volunteer work. We then purchased a motorhome and we struck out to see as many states as we could because we are both disabled. We got our motorhome from a dealer in Montgomery, Alabama. In the next five years we got to see forty two states. We loved the traveling and we made a point to visit each capital city. We felt that the trips built memories that we will remember forever. Flying like sailing, you should NOt drink or eat anything for twelve hours before you set out.
My husband gets motion sick very easily. Tried lots of things with no help. Then tried Scopalamine patch which is a prescription. He does fantastic on them, sailing, cruise, airplane, rough seas… Give it a try.
I am 82 and I have had motion sickness all my life. My Dad and his Mom, my Grandmother, also had motion sickness. And my poor Grandma took a ship over from Poland in the early 1900's to settle in Hamtramic, Michigan with 2 sons who remembered taking care of her as she was so very sick the whole way. So, it is inherited and it is nothing to be ashamed of, I have finally learned. I did use Scapolomine patches behind my ear for serveral flights and did not get sick but was very sleepy for several days after. My heart goes out to you. God Bless.
The crowd at the Okie Homesteading Expo was bigger than they expected. For a first time event, it was very well planned and executed. Any glitches were small and easily corrected next year! Wonderful, wonderful experience and meeting you was the icing on the cake! Loved seeing MaryCarl with her group of friends! Just the best day.
In 2003 I went with my daughter, on a short class trip for Graduation, on a small cruise ship to Canada. I was so sick. Finally on the way back home, I bought two wrist bands with pressure point buttons. Wow what a difference they made. No more motion sickness. I know how awful Brooke feel's, I even use them to fly. It's no joke when you get motion sickness.

I think it's clear that what Brooke needs to do on a plane so she doesn't get sick is either fly the plane or sit in the cockpit. Brooke, I would talk to your Dr about the dramamine reaction & ask if there is something else. I know people who take Bonine for motion sickness & can even go on rides. ( That or maybe you had a stomach virus) Some people have just the opposite reaction to meds that make you sleepy, & they get agitated. The same with hyperactive kids, they give them a stimulant, but it calms them down. Normal people would be bouncing off walls. You 2 come across so friendly & sweet on your videos that I feel like I know you. I'm a senior citizen & I feel like I could just sit down & talk to y'all for hours!

Sleeping seemed to be the only way I survived. Otherwise id be throwing up even after the trip. There was no medicine for it back then. Glad your home and safe. I just love y'all.

Brooke I have been through Exactly what you experienced. I can't do trains, planes, boats, buses or carnival rides. Turns out I have an inner ear imbalance and the non drowsy dramamine doesn't sit well with me either. Gingerale helps. I can sympathize so much. Glad you are feeling better. So sorry your travel was so miserable. Watching Jason with Nugget after you got home was so touching. You guys really love your animals. I watch every podcast and video.

I just want to thank the three of you for sharing your time to talk to me! I even got to speak with Mary Carl, the Pigeon Master!!! Her face lit up when I used those words! And Jason and Brooke you were both so wonderful!!! Brooke, I kinda wonder if you were so sick on the flight home because you hadn’t had a chance for your food to digest from the night before. When we sleep our stomach and intestines slow down (I’m a nurse) and since there wasn’t hardly any turbulence on the way back, I would lean towards that being the situation. On the way to the expo I think it was actual air sickness. I get so car sick that I have thrown up when I was the driver but come to find out it was probably a result of my Neuroendocrine cancer. I have been a little bit nauseated on a plane but never needed to use the bag. I also get pretty sick on boats (threw up lots while scuba diving and whale watching)! I’m glad you feel better Brooke and that your neck feels better! Best wishes and I hope to see you guys at the next one. Or I can come and help take care of your farm so you can go!!! 💛💛💛

I'm glad you all had a great time. We had tickets and our hotel booked but had to cancel because our dog was very sick. He had kidney failure and went fast. We had to put him down Saturday the day of the expo. We do have a hotel and tickets for Petals next month. I am ready to meet everyone then. Love your channel.

My Mom was a flight attendant starting in the 60’s so I grew up on airplanes. Your not alone on getting airsickness Brooke; I’ve seen a lot of people get sick over 50+ years as a passenger.

I don't think it was the flight that made you sick, it was the Dramamine. In the future please use Bonine. The active ingredient in Bonine is 25mg of Meclizine. Meclizine is the generic name for Antivert. Antivert is commonly prescribed for vertigo. Vertigo causes motion sickness. Bonine is an over the counter medication for motion sickness. Meclizine does not require a prescription but is kept in the pharmacy. Ask your pharmacist for any questions you may have.

Brooke the first time I flew I was 58 and went to Australia. I flew from Des Moines, IA to Dallas TX then had a long layover in Los Angeles. Then flew from Los Angeles to Sydney Australia, that part of the flight ✈ was 15 hours. I went again in 2012.

As I'm so happy you got to meet Grandma and Grandpa Adults farm! I call them earth angels! I have been going thro so much since jan.11th.Its only my 14 yr.old daughter and myself. I have no family and no friends. God brought them into my life the same week our whole world was destroyed and our hearts were broken into pieces. I can honestly say I wouldn't have made it thru without them. Strangers miles away from us their care and love reached me. It felt like they held me up and gave me the courage and faith to be strong enough that I helped my babies girl throne she never knew that mommy was a broken mess. I thank god everyday for them and I will every day for the rest of my life!

Hey Brooke….I looked up the side effects of Dramamine and it says the effects you had were serious ones. I would say you are allergic to it and don’t think you should take it again. I’m glad you feel better. When I took a cruise years ago I had a motion sickness patch behind my ear and did not get sick and the cruise was rough with lots of people sick. I got the patches from my doctor. Maybe something to look into.

The smallest plane I have been on was 1 seat on the left ( when you sat down) and two on the right. It was a Prop job. You felt everything. I loved it.
Sounds like you all had a wonderful time at the expo, meeting people, seeing friends and seeing people that you knew but never met in person. The dinner on the last day sounded awesome, what a lovely way to end the wonderful weekend! I feel so bad for Brooke, that must have been awful to feel so sick and be so far away from home. I don't get air sick but I remember my mom getting so sick every time we flew. My dad worked for the government and we moved to a different country every three years and my poor mom was always so sick. The flights were over 12 hours at a time so she was miserable. Good thing it was every three years. That was a long time ago and in those days there was no medication for air sickness so it was bad. From friends I know that get air sick and sea sick, they do get patches from the doctor and those worked well for them. I do get sea sick and car sick so I know the feeling. (probably not as bad as Brooke felt) I know all your animals missed you all and loved seeing you back home.
I remember a flight from Frankfurt Germany to Toronto Canada. I was on my flight Home. The whole 8 ours was a rough ride where the Plane was rocking all the way Home.I was glad when I put my feet on the ground at the Toronto Airport.

Just love the wholesome love and devotion you share with us and each other. Thank you!! My daughter suffers severe motion sickness in any planes, trains, boats or automobiles. She has suffered with it her entire life. Even with this affliction she has flown twice to India by herself and she also worked on the Alaska Railroad for a summer. Her only saving grace is Dramamine , although it caused extreme drowsiness. Unfortunately, the motion sickness is something that she has had to learn to expect and prepare for. Glad you are feeling better Brooke.

My Mom was a flight attendant starting in the 60’s so I grew up on airplanes. Your not alone on getting airsickness Brooke; I’ve seen a lot of people get sick over 50+ years as a passenger.

I don't think it was the flight that made you sick, it was the Dramamine. In the future please use Bonine. The active ingredient in Bonine is 25mg of Meclizine. Meclizine is the generic name for Antivert. Antivert is commonly prescribed for vertigo. Vertigo causes motion sickness. Bonine is an over the counter medication for motion sickness. Meclizine does not require a prescription but is kept in the pharmacy. Ask your pharmacist for any questions you may have.

Brooke the first time I flew I was 58 and went to Australia. I flew from Des Moines, IA to Dallas TX then had a long layover in Los Angeles. Then flew from Los Angeles to Sydney Australia, that part of the flight ✈ was 15 hours. I went again in 2012.

So glad you had such a good time once you got to Oklahoma. Brooke - I can fly fine, but I do get sea sick. If someone’s never has motion sickness, they just can’t understand how truly awful it is!! Plus when you’re in public, it’s embarrassing to boot!! I’m sure it feels great to be back on firm ground.

As I'm so happy you got to meet Grandma and Grandpa Adults farm! I call them earth angels! I have been going thro so much since jan.11th.Its only my 14 yr.old daughter and myself. I have no family and no friends. God brought them into my life the same week our whole world was destroyed and our hearts were broken into pieces. I can honestly say I wouldn't have made it thru without them. Strangers miles away from us their care and love reached me. It felt like they held me up and gave me the courage and faith to be strong enough that I helped my babies girl throne she never knew that mommy was a broken mess. I thank god everyday for them and I will every day for the rest of my life!

Hey Brooke….I looked up the side effects of Dramamine and it says the effects you had were serious ones. I would say you are allergic to it and don’t think you should take it again. I’m glad you feel better. When I took a cruise years ago I had a motion sickness patch behind my ear and did not get sick and the cruise was rough with lots of people sick. I got the patches from my doctor. Maybe something to look into.

The smallest plane I have been on was 1 seat on the left ( when you sat down) and two on the right. It was a Prop job. You felt everything. I loved it.
Sounds like you all had a wonderful time at the expo, meeting people, seeing friends and seeing people that you knew but never met in person. The dinner on the last day sounded awesome, what a lovely way to end the wonderful weekend! I feel so bad for Brooke, that must have been awful to feel so sick and be so far away from home. I don't get air sick but I remember my mom getting so sick every time we flew. My dad worked for the government and we moved to a different country every three years and my poor mom was always so sick. The flights were over 12 hours at a time so she was miserable. Good thing it was every three years. That was a long time ago and in those days there was no medication for air sickness so it was bad. From friends I know that get air sick and sea sick, they do get patches from the doctor and those worked well for them. I do get sea sick and car sick so I know the feeling. (probably not as bad as Brooke felt) I know all your animals missed you all and loved seeing you back home.
I remember a flight from Frankfurt Germany to Toronto Canada. I was on my flight Home. The whole 8 ours was a rough ride where the Plane was rocking all the way Home.I was glad when I put my feet on the ground at the Toronto Airport.

My daughter suffers severe motion sickness in any planes, trains, boats or automobiles. She has suffered with it her entire life. Even with this affliction she has flown twice to India by herself and she also worked on the Alaska Railroad for a summer. Her only saving grace is Dramamine , although it caused extreme drowsiness. Unfortunately, the motion sickness is something that she has had to learn to expect and prepare for. Glad you are feeling better Brooke.

The non- drowsy meds have high caffeine substances in them and can make you sick shaky ect: You'd have been better off with nothing. Also sorry I missed this event the husband could not leave his security job. So no time off! sigh! Hope to meet you all soon. I admire y'all so much.
