- Merry Christmas and Yippee-Ki-Yay! Welcome to the RETRO REPLAY holiday special where Nolan North and Troy Baker finally come to terms on whether or not Die Hard is or isn't a Christmas Movie. They also happen to be playing the 1996 PlayStation game based on the Bruce Wills films Die Hard Trilogy. Grab your spiked eggnog and your ugly Christmas sweater and get ready for some advice from Santa Noly while Troy reenacts 84.3% of Die Hard with near perfect accuracy. i have to agree with Santa Noly. passing on the legacy of Santa is a way of keeping the magic strong and unbreakable for one generation to the next, and also, reminding those to have forgotten the magic. for me, I have always love the magic of christmas, even of one your spending it alone.
Christopher Lewis I see nothing wrong with telling the story of Saint Nicholas but I was really hurt by the whole Santa thing when I was little.

When Noly talks about the "magic" of Santa it reminds me of one of my favorite Christmas movie, "The Santa Clause" starring Tim Allen.

That part where Nolan is talking about Santa is inspiring.
Omg I love the part about passing on the magic of Santa and preserving the innocence of kids. That really got me into tears. Putting all the jokes aside, Nolan and Troy are really good parents!

Ita ridiculous this channel doesn't get the recognition it deserves. You guys are the best. Especially Troy. You can do a million different characters, and they'll all be great. But you'll always be Matt Baker to me. Both of you guys played such a large part in some of my favorite childhood games, and I know the channel will only keep getting better and better. Gremlins is a Christmas movie. The only real requirement is that Christmas is part of the movie. Gizmo is and Christmas gift hence Gremlins is a Christmas movie and John McClane is going to a Christmas party.

God dude.......I can see why others in the comments said, "I'm in tears." From the moment they put the controller down and Troy started telling stories about his drum kit and whatnot when he was a kid ALLLLLLLLLLL the way to the end I was just so emotional and so into the story because I literally had the exact same type of experiences growing up. They go from playing Die Hard and making us all laugh to making everyone teary eyed. What an incredibly, fantastic, amazing show. I love this show and and these guys. Drew as well! (:

I would say no because they never got anywhere. Old games like that don't save until after you've beaten a level. They never beat level one so it didn't save. And they never beat whatever level Drew was on so, again, no save.

I agree wholeheartedly with Noly, let your kid believe in Santa. It's the whole heart and magic of Christmas, even when you stop believing. I remember my dad used to get up on the roof and bang around to make it sound like Santa. And there was one year our dog peed on the Christmas tree, and my parents said it was Rudolph. Santa Clause is the spirit of Christmas and I couldn't imagine a childhood without him.

I'm usually in the "Die Hard is not a Christmas movie" camp, but Troy might've sold me on it. I just ordered the blu ray while watching this so I can watch it while I wrap presents on Christmas Eve.

Yup.. It's official. I've just watched around 4 hours of Retro Replay. Not only is this show fantastic. But Uncle Nolan might be my favorite person in the world.

I just watched Rudolf the first time in a couple of years (I don’t have any kids just for the classic feel~) and I thought the same thing!
Thank you Drew, Nolan and Troy for providing me (and everyone else) with great laughs and moments each week surrounding games, but more importantly, life experiences. It truly has been a pleasure to feast my eyes and ears on the great content with each subsequent episode rarely not better than the last. I have learned a lot about what makes Nolan and Troy who they are and I am truly grateful for that, you don't get this level of connection on other shows, it gives me the illusion of being lifelong pals without ever having of met them ;)
Thank you for an amazing level 1 and I look forward to what level 2 brings. There's still a chance my Retro Replay shirt will make it here (Western Australia - not Perth where you are from Nolan haha a bit more south) before Christmas and I will be wearing it (hopefully) whilst watching Die Hard on Christmas Eve.

Never expected such good and heartwarming talks about parenting, but I’m so glad they did it anyway
Since we're sharing Christmas stories I thought I'd throw one out that seems at least a little relevant!
So it was Christmas of 2008, I was just about 11 years old. I *Loved* games but we were kind of a broke family, it was just me and my brother and my mom. We had to skip the PS3 the year before but it didn't bother us too much, we loved getting games for our older consoles and we were pretty understanding of everything.
So me and my brother would usually both get some sort of game for Christmas. My brother would always get the more violent of the two games because it would make my mother feel better (haha) and I remember that year we opened our game-shaped presents, super excited, and mine was Ratchet and Clank: Tools of Destruction, my brother's was Uncharted (woo). You can imagine, two kids who just got games for a console they didn't have, we were so disappointed because my mother didn't know much about games. We figured she had just picked up the wrong thing. We tried to be cool about it but she could tell we were heartbroken because we were trying to tell her in the nicest way possible that she got it wrong. She was like "Doesn't it work? On the Playstation? They're playstation games" and of course we were like "No, we only have the second one"
Then she goes "Ah shit, better give you guys this then." and she reaches behind the tree and pulls out a big old square box and lo and behold it had the PS3 in that bad boy.
My mom has since passed away, and this Christmas memory is one of the ones I hold dearest not because we got a PS3 out of it, but because it reminds me of the intricate theater and effort my mother would put into making christmas magical. She would set up these elaborate Christmas day situations that have stuck with me for years. I hope this Christmas everyone down here in the comments, Drew, Noel and Troy all have a wonderful Christmas, and that everyone in your families will stay happy and healthy for years and years to come!

this show has been the absolute joy of my year. i can't wait for what is next. i just ordered the shirt and i can't wait til i get it, it is gonna take some time for it to get to europe. this show has really been a highlight of the week for all of us who's watches the show. unfortubately because i'm european i haven't been able to be at the livestreams because i've gone to bed but nonetheless this community is the best.
