  • This is the Samsung Galaxy Watch Ultra, an all-new adventure-ready wearable - and Samsung’s answer to the Apple Watch Ultra.

    A smartwatch designed to handle everything you can throw at it, Samsung certainly isn’t messing around when it comes to durability. The Galaxy Watch Ultra is made from grade 4 titanium and has been tested to MIL-STD-810H military standards. It packs a sapphire crystal display, which Samsung says can hit a peak brightness of 3,000 nits and features a squared-off body to help protect it from bumps and knocks.
    The watch has been designed to operate in temperatures as low as -20 and as high as +55, possesses an IP68 dust and water resistance rating and is certified down to 10ATM.
    The Watch Ultra comes in one size: 47mm, in three colours: Titanium Silver, Titanium Grey, and Titanium White and is available as an LTE model only.
    As you might expect, the Watch Ultra is equipped with all the sensors that adventurous types could want or need. Samsung’s BioActive Sensor tracks your heart rate, blood oxygen level, body composition and more, while there’s also a temperature sensor, accelerometer, barometer, gyro sensor, geomagnetic sensor and light sensor.
    Powering it all is the brand new Exynos W1000 processor - the first chip of its kind built on a 3nm process. It also features the latest iteration of Samsung’s operating system for wearables, Wear OS 5.
    In an attempt to match the stamina of its wearer, the Galaxy Watch Ultra packs a hefty 590mAH battery -that’s larger than the 564mAh cell found in the Apple Watch Ultra 2 - but exactly how that extra capacity translates to real-world battery performance remains to be seen.
    With a price tag of £599, the Samsung Galaxy Watch Ultra also undercuts Apple’s flagship wearable by £200. While that price difference is unlikely to convince those already locked into the iOS ecosystem to make the switch, Galaxy fans will no doubt appreciate the value this rugged powerhouse offers.
    On first impressions, there’s certainly a lot to like here, but we’ll be sure to put the Samsung Galaxy Watch Ultra through its paces in our full review.

    Crazy how Samsung goes back to 2017 to look for design ideas and they did a great job at doing it. Galaxy watch sport design just beefier and way more tech behide it.

    • @expert_reviews
      @expert_reviews  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      We haven't personally stress tested it but it's rated to 100m/10ATM of water pressure and features plenty of water-based activity tracking modes, so it's certainly at least designed to handle pool swimming.
      With regards to the IP68 rating: 6=Dust-tight, 8=Immersion, 1 meter (3 ft 3 in) or more depth. The "or more" is what's relevant here. The IP rating system only goes as high as IP69.

    • @rrrerrr60

      @@expert_reviews
      that's true, but IP68 limits water resistant to 30 minutes of exposure to water, what happens if I swim an 2 hours? hope you will test it somehow, thanks for the review and answer.

    • @expert_reviews
      @expert_reviews  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      IP68 only tests up to 30 minutes, so a IP68 rating means that it was tested for that period of time and successfully passed. It doesn't mean that it only lasted 30 minutes during the test.
      As I mentioned, the only rating higher than IP68 is IP69 and even IP69 doesn't specify a maximum immersion time.

    Don’t really see the point of having a circular face and a squared off case, have one or the other. Besides, you lose out of more screen possibilities by going circular…

    • @Zokeh
      @Zokeh 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It's a classic _design_ of the 1900's. I don't think It's meant to be form over function. It does however allow for a bigger battery 👍🏾

    • @expert_reviews
      @expert_reviews  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Samsung's reasoning during the press briefing was that the squared-off design adds protection to the display, presumably by adding a little extra distance between the glass and things that may knock into it. We think it gives it a slightly more rugged appearance than Samsung's standard, circular Galaxy Watches. The circular face also allows it to use more classically-styled circular watch faces. Of course, design preference is totally a matter of personal taste.

    Regarding Watch 7 ultra - Samsung - you treat clients with disregard. This is the shame that you left the round screen on square like body... as the only explanation for such move would be to keep the rotating bezel working... and... it doesn’t rotate! . Good luck to those who want to use virtual bezel with gloves on or on wet screen of the “ULTRA” professional watch! SAMSUNG YOU ARE INSULTING USERS and treating them really as "bring us 2x more money for less useful interface" also - where is the rumored sugar level monitoring?
    This situation with “missing functionality” continues for many years - Last year - on Galaxy watch 6 Classic - you brought back the rotating bezel… , but cut the battery capacity almost in half…. On Galaxy 5… - you have installed nice large battery but… deleted rotating bezel known as key feature on Galay 4 and Galaxy 3….
    Samsung - you are experimenting on users, asking them to pay each year more for new model which has some major functionality cuts.
    This make me as the long time user really annoyed - this continues from Galaxy watch 2 and 3 released without super useful feature which was camera introduced on the original SM-V700 Galaxy Gear
    This year I do not plan to upgrade, SORRY - I will not accept taking away functionalities each time for more money !

    Normally, I buy a Galaxy watch every year and it's usually the classic or the pro versions, but this year I'm skipping as they don't have no twisting bezel and the ultra is geared way too much towards the health nuts. I already have a watch5 pro and a watch6 classic as they give me the best of both worlds. I also disable all the health features on those watches immediately for better battery life as I personally find that gimmicky. Buying a $600 smartwatch and disable all the gimmicky health features is a waste of money for that amount. I still see Samsung hasn't done anything about the lag.

    • @BubbleTonic
      @BubbleTonic 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      So you've already paid hundreds of dollars for two Samsung smart watches and you're annoyed that you don't have the opportunity to spend hundreds more on another one?
      The Watch Ultra is unapologetically a sports/health enthusiast-focused wearable. If you turn all of the health features off on your devices then it's no surprise that this is *not* a device aimed at you.

    • @jamesm568

      @@BubbleTonic If you pay hundreds of dollars for Samsung's regular smartwatches you're doing something wrong as they are aimed for the everyday person. Yes, the ultra would be a waste of money if you use it like a regular watch as it is focused for the health nuts.

      @@BubbleTonic I also don't see the point of getting the watch 7 when the watch5 pro gets 5 days of battery life when it is properly optimized. @@expert_reviews I didn't think I would like the watch5 pro without the turnable bezel but it turned out to be a somewhat pretty solid smartwatch with its own unique look that is balanced. Those magnetic bands on the watch5 and watch6 have been excellent too as I don't see that option on the watch7 and ultra.
