Superdrug staff should be trained to stop you trying things on your face, you are meant to test products on your hand in the triangle between your thumb and the next finger. This is because it is the closest colouring to your face and therefore should be accurate for testing but without the hygiene issues. She should have explained that to you, and not have stopped you using things you bought as you had the receipt. I used to work on the makeup counter and I would teach customers how to try out the testers hygienically 😊 it’s also safer to test on your hand in case you are allergic, you wouldn’t want your face swelling up. They also used it to stop all the teenagers coming in to do a full face of makeup every Saturday. I wish Superdrug had the makeup ladies you get in department stores where they put it on for you with disposable brushes and stuff. Would make it so much easier.

With the testers that lady was not wrong though.
I personally would check colors etc. by swiping it on hand/arm.
    Best wishes ❤

The girl at superdrug did do the right thing at first by telling you not to swatch on your face for safety reasons. Its best to swatch on your arm or hand since so many different people use that tester product so it prevents bacterial contamination. But I totally agree that she was in the wrong with you about the lip gloss you brought and put on before you left

Test on the back of your hand it's safer for you and others because that way no one can catch your germs amd you catch theirs❤

14:43 crochet cannot be replicated by machines, which is why it’s usually expensive! Whenever it’s crochet, you know it’s handmade 😉 this (very cool) hat seems to be crochet ☺️

ur frustrations are super valid. i think she acted that way because since the pandemic, cosmetic testers are now used as swatches (i.e. on the back of the hand or in the arm). i don't think its good practice now to directly apply testers onto the face (especially in the eye area and lips since they are super sensitive to irritation)

There's new regulations since covid for the cosmetic industry. Testers (when they have them, and a lot of stores do not anymore) are for arm/back-of-hand swatches only, not just to protect you, but everyone after you. There should be a sign informing customers. It's not just for covid though, there were other diseases passed through using testers, particularly herpes & blepheritis/eye infections. The legal problems were increasing prior to covid and so skin testing is now limited.
Insinuating that you've stolen an item from a store, when she knows you have bought it, can be sued. She had no right to do this. You were right to let the business know.

I adore your ceramic pieces, they give me sentimental feelings! Some people are just looking for attention and want to be problematic. I loved your painting! Your doggo is absolutelly adorable😍

No shade: the superdrug lady was likely quite biased against you. I’ve stopped to read a few of the comments here, and I wonder why this sales attendant didn’t just teach you how to test the makeup in a more hygienic way. If the sales attendant had the know how she should’ve put you on to that knowledge, it’s what she gets paid to do.
She followed you, she kept reprimanding you and she even said you look suspicious for putting onto your skin what you already bought. I don’t think she’s aware of her inherent bias against you. I’m so sorry this was your experience.

About the tester thing, I do agree that for safety it's best to use the testers on your hand/arm, HOWEVER, the attitude of that staff was very strange, like if there's rules or company policies regarding this, then just say that directly; and if not, maybe mention it once and then let the person do whatever they want at their own risk..? But the nagging, following around and the mirror thing were all very strange, it must've been so uncomfortable 🥲
Edit: George is such a cute and good boy!!!!

You’re not a “Karen”. “Karen’s” complain for no reason and overly aggressively. You are justified and did it in a mature way by calling customer service vs. yelling at her right on the spot (even though she was asking for it). If you didn’t bring up your concern, that sales woman (who’s being the “Karen “) would keep harassing other customers. On a more important note, I love your art! 🫶🏼
