Iron Maiden are metal legends. In the 80’s it was Maiden and Judas Priest for us teenage metal heads all the way. I still get goosebumps listening to these early Maiden songs.

They were touring non stop during this period, they would tour for over a year straight and didn't have a jet back then , only tour buses so it was way more grueling and more lengthy tour schedules, I don't know how they endured it . Just amazing band .

The powerslave album was amazing, they came up with the word powerslave because of the Intense touring, they said they were a slave to the tour and called it powerslave, they were on an extremely heavy schedule, this song though is based on mythology, Horus, Osiris, amazing material. Great reaction my friend to a legendary and pristine band.

I do believe someone is getting ever so slightly hooked on Maiden! Welcome to the Maiden family, we love all kinds and creeds!! I kind of know what you mean about feeling out of place with Metal. I'm the same. I love Maiden, have done for 35 years, but I don't actually 'get' many other metal bands. For me, all that other bands want to sing about is getting drunk, having sex and just dicking around. Very few other bands appeal to me based on that fact alone. Metallica is probably the only other band that chose not to solely write album after album about the above. Maiden not only offer you epic musicianship, but there's actual thought and maturity in their song writing and a sense of story telling too.....more so in the 80's albums. If I could suggest that you try anything from the album 'Seventh Son of a Seventh Son' next. You will be blown away!!

Iron Maiden is a great starting point for Metal as it is almost impossible to find a bad song by them. Another great singer to check out is Ronnie James Dio. He was in several bands over his lifetime but the ones he is most known for are 'Rainbow' , 'Black Sabbath', 'Dio', and 'Heaven and Hell' (Heaven and Hell is made up of the original Black Sabbath lineup with Ronnie James Dio as vocalist.. it is also the name of an album from Black Sabbath that featured Ronnie James Dio as vocalist.. just to avoid some confusion.) I would recommend the song "Stargazer" from the band 'Rainbow" as a good starting point for Ronnie James Dio's vocals. He is another operatic singer/performer similar to Bruce Dickinson here.
