This story freaked me out the most growing up... the ending specifically. It's the last sound that we hear which has stuck with me... I can't tell if it's the beast howling or the husband moaning.

I think a fabulously wealthy, powerful tiger-woman could find a better concubine than an ugly, cruel, probably abusive and not particularly bright manual laborer. Either he was actually some handsome hero or magician under a spell that only freaky monster-sex could break and his wife was just missing out over the span of decades and 10 kids, or he's dead.
I always thought the moral of the story is if something seems too good to be true... its cause it is. If some random lady showed up claiming to be my sister when I didn't have a sister and desperately wanted me and my kids to live with her and eat lots, alarm bells would be going off in my head.

princess Boys honestly i was at one of my mum's ex-friend's house and she put on that same dvd collection thinking it was the movie tangled and honestly i was so confused with it when i started watching it but went with the flow of it. this particular story creeped me out when i was younger and it honestly still creeps me out now!😱😨

I think that this story, from the way it is written, the way it is told, and the way it was animated, is the closest Britannica's Tales Around the World ventured into Tales from the Crypt territory. I wonder if there are other Syrian folk tales which have a similar ironic bite as this story.
