I'm Canadian and this story chokes me up.
I'm a huge advocate of standing ground, kneel to no one, resisting tyranny, and reveling in the shock and bewilderment of the enemy who was foolish enough to underestimate integrity and principled resolve.

Thank you for your service! I was in 8th grade when we first started learning United States history. That same year, we were permitted to choose whether we stood or sat down during the Flag Salute, so you can imagine the teacher had was biased. We need to take it upon ourselves to learn, which is unfortunate. But we are a young country, and it is more than worth the time to educate ourselves. That way, the symbolism won't be lost on us and we can live with gratitude & respect that this nation deserves!

yeah okay, there's been a lot of miss use of the Flag, but No one say anything about that, because of that, as a U.S Air Force Veteran I think you're Full of Shit!
Oh! and think you for your service ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
      4 U.S. Code Chapter 1 - THE FLAG:
      (b) The flag should not be draped over the hood, top, sides, or back of a vehicle or of a railroad train or a boat.
      (d) The flag should never be used as wearing apparel, bedding, or drapery. It should never be festooned, drawn back, nor up, in folds,
      (i) The flag should never be used for advertising purposes in any manner whatsoever.
      (j) No part of the flag should ever be used as a costume or athletic uniform.
Here's part of the missing verse:Their blood has wash’d out their foul footstep’s pollution.
No refuge could save the hireling and slave
From the terror of flight or the gloom of the grave,
And the star-spangled banner in triumph doth wave
O’er the land of the free and the home of the brave.

It's unfortunate that people find rebellion & destruction to be such an edgy, cool hobby... not to mention our schools are basically demonizing our country and rewriting history if they choose to teach it at all. I believe even those who were taught to hate it here have a responsibility to take it upon themselves and learn this nation's history. It's not even 250 years old, so it's not too much for them to educate themselves on!

When I was in the U.S Navy I learned what each color on the flag means.
    Blue represents "Justice" (Democracy).
White represents Nationalism (Pride in your nation).
Red represents the "Blood we shed" giving respect to the troops that died to defend it.
So if people ever wonder why Veterans get mad when people disrespect the flag this is why.
Serving my nation and traveling around the world has really made me appreciate my freedom and way of life more.
People don't understand how good they have it here.
I also understand why people of different cultures will go through hell to get here both legally and illegally to try to become citizens.
USA isn't perfect and we still got our issues but you aren't going to find many places in the world like our nation.

    • @xoFrancescaFox
      @xoFrancescaFox  2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

Whoa, I had no idea! Thanks so much for serving. Thank you for explaining the colors! It's sad that people use the freedom that we have in this country, only to disrespect the very nation where they are free. I believe the more you learn about how this country came to be, the more appreciation you will have. The cliche "knowledge is power" holds true. If you learn about our history, learn about the conditions of other parts of the world... things would be so different. Most of the disrespect comes from a place of ignorance. Sure, we still would have some people hating this place because they hate themselves. But a lot of the hate for America is shallow and only indicative of a sad attempt at being cool & edgy.

When you placed your hand over your heart as the anthem was sung, I knew you were a decent person and I could see the excitement in your eyes and the pride, knowing this is your heritage, your flag and your song.

This video is well known to be highly inaccurate. For example, these events occurred during the War of 1812, not the American Revolution. By that time, America consisted of states, not colonies. Key went only to secure the freedom of one personal friend, Dr. William Beanes. It was not a two way prisoner exchange. Also, it wasn't "Fort Henry," it was Fort McHenry.

Not colonies, they were states. This was 1814, toward the end of the War of 1812, 39 years after the end of theRevolutionary War. There were not hundreds of ships, not the entire British fleet. England was at war with Napoleon in Europe as well. OK, so there are some embellishments, but the story is still really good. Love it!

Such an impactful story! The song itself is beautiful, but the details are an important reminder of how we are free.

Never been in the military myself but I was born an American and this brings the tears every time I see it. MUCH appreciation to those who have served, past and present and warmest regards to those who gave everything so we wouldn't have to. 🇺🇸

As a Canadian, I listened to the original video (the one that you're reacting to) countless times and always shed a tear - as someone who lived in your country for 5 years before moving back home, the US will always be my home and it pains me to see what is happening down there right now (and up here for that matter). But after hearing this video, I can never look at someone who disrespects the flag with anything other than complete and utter contempt and it would take my entire being not to throttle said person on the spot. The topic was already a touchy point for me because I knew the importance of the flag (regardless of nation) but upon hearing this story - it takes it to a completely new level of respect, reverence and aww.
I now wonder, are there enough Christian Americans left to stand and fight, and die on their feet or have you already surrendered to the enemy without a shot being fired? God Bless America because if America falls, we all fall.

It's late in the evening/night and I cannot sleep. Not because a Beautiful raven haired Lady did up her makeup to learn some of America's history. As a disabled US Army combat Veteran I do not sleep much anymore. But watching you dry a tear you fought back was priceless. I would not judge you harshly if it smeared your makeup. Later your real pride shown through as you jut out your chin, an act of defiance much as the Colonialists had.
Thank You Young Lady for putting your hand over your heart and being respectful where so few do without direction.
At 57 I still get goosebumps listening and I learned this history in elementary school where we still said the "Pledge of Allegiance" every morning. Tears come to my eyes still thinking of brothers and sisters gone form this world but never forgotten. Johnny Cash performed and made a video for his song; "RAGGED OLD FLAG" that I would appreciate you reacting to. Then maybe you to could persuade idiots to stop kneeling and disrespecting all the Warriors that fought for their freedoms.
It's not about current policy or behavior of a few, it is about pride. Pride like the tears that flowed from your eyes, a love of someone you've never met but already Respect for their life choices.
    You are in my prayers
    Hoka Hey

And for generation after generation after generation since we were children we are taught the sacrifice that our countrymen made. And that flag will never touch the ground. And that's why when you see someone in the military or a patriot sees that flag get disrespected or hit the ground we lose our shit.
