When the fuel petcock diagraprahm goes bad, usually from bas gas, especially with ethanol which dries up the rubber diaphram,or lets say from using B12 chemtool or lucas too often in your gas, your scooter will give you a hard time to start or not start at all.One clear sign is the smell of gas,and the spark plug gets wet, because the carburetor is flooded since the fuel petcock.is dripping, not stopping the gas from flowing into your carb. The way he shows here is fine, but i usually just pull the fuel line that sends the gas to the carburetor and if it drips non stop, the petcock needs to be replaced...im not saying what he is doing is wrong, but just in case you do not have a bottle and the hose you can still do it.Its a very practical way to know right away..I want to thank you for helping people in need..I live in Miami and scooter mechanics suck..its been over 3 years my 3 scooters do not see a shop or a mechanic here other than me..Nowadays im a full mechanic and do my own stuff.I proudly say i was able to replace all my bearings and gears in the drive box..I bought a shop press and installed high quality japanese bearings and it runs way much better than when i bought it brand new..I use my own gear oil by mixing regular 10 w 30 motor oil with lucas oil treatment and it woks amazing..you can use the widman international viscosity charts to do so..to get a 90 w viscosity i mix 85 percent of lucas oil treatment to 14 percent of 10 w 30...getting a viscosity of 89 approximately.I have been using this mix for over 2 years and since i deliver food on it in this hot miami heat and put up to 60 miles daily i wanted to make sure my gears are well protected. The amazing results are worth it..you can get any cheap 10 w 30,plus the lucas and make your own..I really appreciate this man helping other people,i do it too..thanks everyone

Hello Andy if you getting fuel in the crank case where is the belt must be leaking from the top like leaking from lower carburetor drain or manifold or gasket leak in front of the manifold but if the fuel is mixed with oil is coming from the seal behind the variator and if is coming from there that is a sign that the piston ring are getting old

This is excellent video. I replaced my petcock without testing so i still have the same problem. My question is what will happen if you eliminated the petcock (connect the fuel line to the gas tank directly) ?
Hello Oscar one of my idea is to remove the petcock amzn.to/3gSLpBZ but you will have to put a fuel switch when you remove the petcock because if you go directly from the tank to carb little by little with the force of gravity lots of fuel will go inside the motor when motor if off and will mix with oil even if the carburetor float valve will close but will not stop the fuel all the way. Hello my friend did you check your vacuum line to make sure the hose are not cut or damaged or disconnected and try to test the fuel valve to make sure the fuel flow when petcock is open
Nice video...I have a kymco people 200 and having a fuel problem...as long as you blow on the gas tank the scooter will run, stop blowing and the scooter stops...any suggestions????
Hi if your scooter run without the fuel cap the breathing hall at the fuel cap is clogged or the breathing tube over the top back side of the fuel tank is close or clogged or your fuel filter is gummed up. Thank you for watching my video
When I say blowing I mean to put your mouth on the funnel to the gas tank and blow inside and put pressure inside of the gas tankvirberello GY6 Tips and Tricks
@@jackiesummers4785 Yep I understand Jackie one of those thinks is not working and the fuel is not flowing freely unless you create more pressure by blowing .If you have to blow in the gas tank something is stopping the Natural gravity fuel flow if that happen when the fuel cap is on that mean that the tank is creating a vacuum inside and the fuel cap breathing hole is clogged if the fuel cup is off could be a dirty bottom fuel tank or dirty fuel filter or gummed up fuel valve.
Nice tutorial. I've seen people doing that but I hate that fuel odor. May I suggest using fluid mechanics principle, won't cost you that much, maybe five bucks?
I have a gy6 150cc. My scooter bogs out when I give it gas and only holds idle with the fuel that’s in the carb until it runs out. I tested my petcock. As you did in video. Works fine. New carb on the scooter. New spark plug. Any other ideas ? I don’t see any damage to manifold. New air filter as well. Could it possibly not have vacuum pressure ? That’s what I’m starting to think but not sure where to look for an issue like this.
Hello David try to check your fuel cap if that does not let little air in it create a vacuum inside the tank and does not let the fuel flow freely try to run the scooter without fuel cap to see if that is the problem. Thank you for watching my video
virberello GY6 Scooter Tips so I tried the gas cap trick. No luck. It’s still bogging when I give gas. Could it be the valves need to be adjusted ? It did sit a while before I ran it again. Like 3-4 years. Also. I seen bubbles floating up and down in tank. When I had gas cap off. Not sure if from cap being off or vibration of scooter. Any chance you know the placement for a 150cc Sunl. It’s a 2006. Slow idle rpm 1500. Thanks again.
Hi I love all your videos but I have a question if you can help please 1 have a 150cc gy6 baja RT my petcock is bigger than the one you showed in this video can I still do the test will it let me know if its bad? Also if I wanted to switch it out to the smaller one would that be ok or no?
Hello JessicaI not familiar with the larger petcock fuel valve but if it has 3 way lines you can test the same way if you like you can switch to the smaller fuel valve but you will have less fuel flow and that can give you little problems sometime on power on demand . Thank you for watching my videos and be safe
Just bought two ZNEN 150cc scooters(GY6 Clones) When I fill the tank with gas they leak a puddle of gas and then stop leaking. Gas tank is underneath . I am not over filling. Where is this gas coming from?Scooters run fine. Both scooters do the same thing !
Hello Chuck good question the best way is to fill up the gas tank and stay next to the scooter and see where the leak come from I have the feeling that the petcock valve are dry up or damaged by ethanol gasoline and the valve is leaking or the carburetor floater is not working properly and or the carburetor bowl gasket is dry and old

hey love the videos i have a problem with my moped when i drive it for around 10 to 20 minutes it’s starting to die i press the throttle and it bogs down and it wont start it it cools down anything that will help me
Hello Vselly I have the feeling that your need to inspect you fuel cup make sure that is clean because there is a possibility that is making a vacuum in the tank but if you say that this happen after 10 to 20 minutes this is a sign of a bad stator because one of the wire in the poles get very hot and get disconnected and when it cool down like magic reconnect himself so the best way is to replace your stator. Hello Cholo so you have a 4 lines petcock to test that is the same way the line on the center is always a vacuum line is the line that open the valve when you make a vacuum to the line or the second way is to connect directly the line that goes from the carburetor to the lower side of your tank and do a test drive If that goes well your petcock is not good . HI, I have a 150cc, it seems to start and idle fine, but after about 10min of riding and if you go open throttle, the bike seems to enter a lean or fuel starved condition, it will start to bog and then stall, wait 10secs, it starts up again, but then will sputter and bog then stall again, Ive replaced, carb, cdi, plug, battery, coil, vaccum petcock, fuel lines,,,same thing happens,,,HOWEVER, I noticed that from the gas tank(under the floor boards) to the petcock there are big bubbles of air many times in that line,,SHOULD there be air in that fuel line?,,I am thinking that may be the issue, why would this be happening, and how could I fix it? TY for your video

Hello Thomas I love clear hose because you can see if the gas flow freely or if you have air bubbles or if any dirt or particles of rust are coming from the gas tank and if you have clear hose on the vacuum lines you can see if sometime you have drops of fuel and that is not good that means that the valves are not working properly . Thank you for watching my video
Hello Kevin as an emergency you can do that to go from point A to Point B but when you have time just replace the part and the scooter will run perfectly . Thank you for watching my video
Great video! i have a question, maybe you can help, there are 4 way petcocks, can i connect them equally? why is the fourth line an where it should be connected? it says i think "vent" its for venting the fuel tank? thanks!!
Hello manuchosd1 I'm not sure on a 4 way fuel valve set up but for what I see in the web look very similar to my 3 way valve and the center nipple is opening the valve with the vacuum line and the other 3 are exit so there is a possibility of a split fuel tank or a carburetor with 2 nipples . Thank you for watching my video
Yeah that was the problem. Mine is just all open, all the time. So my entire fuel tank drained out through my carburetor exhaust hose. Bummer too cus we have no scooter parts store, I have to wait a week for the part to come in the mail
@@danieldaimary8167 Hello my friend if the battery is not charging could be the wire or the Voltage Regulator Rectifier amzn.to/2JXhvOF and at the end you need to test the stator to make sure is producing ac voltage
Hi John I will start from checking the intake manifold in front of the carburetor to make sure that is not crack or broken some time they brake from the heat or they get dry. You need to make sure the O ring of the intake manifold that connect to the motor is not broken if everything look good try to disconnect the hose that connect in the back of your carburetor and go for a test drive 1/4 of miles and see if your scooter is running better if it goes better you need to replace your air filter and for last if your scooter is a little older or I can say above 8000 miles you need to adjust the valves spaces that is always a good thing for a great performance. Good Luck john and thank you for watching my video

Hello Matthew I have the feeling that you have a dirty Air filter try to disconnect the air filter from the carburetor and run the scooter for 1/4 of a mile and see if the scooter goes better if you do not see any change, check the spark plug boot to make sure is not moving and next clean the carburetor bowl Good luck and thank you for watching my video

But 1 more question, iv a cheap 50cc chinees moped, can i clean the exaust out.? To make it more quite or and reliable.? Once again thanks. And keep up the good work..
Hi Matthew if your exhaust make a rattle noise you can try to open a clean out and remove the inside mash but I think is going to be a little challenging to put that exhaust back together because the quality of the product is no good on chinese scooter so sometime I just like to buy new or gently used part on line change the part and don't go crazy sometime the money you spend is cheaper than the time you put in :-) . hey thanks for the video, ive been trying to solve this issue on my scooter for awhile,i have a gy6 ice bear that when you give it full throttle after a while it will die out. i will have to pull over and give it a rest for a moment before it will run again. is this maybe the petcock not supplying fuel? or maybe an electric issue? ive been stumped if any one knows what i should do
Hello Patar If you like to see if the petcock is the reason of your problem just bypass the petcock with a 3 ft 3/16 clear tube from the fuel tank to the carburetor directly and go for a test drive if everything goes right and your scooter run great you need to order a new petcock or do a vacuum line inspection if you still have the problem I think you need to adjust the valves. Thank you for watching my video
good day sir, thanks for the information,. how about if my petcock fuel line is continuously flowing gasoline even my motor is off and i not doing any vacuum?
Hello Maurice is one of the lucky situation because your scooter is working and the part is failing. The petcock is a safety valve to make sure the carburetor does not over flow the second safety device is the floater inside the carburetor if that fail too you are in trouble and the gas goes everywhere so when you have time please change your petcock valve and you will feel safer riding your scooter. Thank you Maurice for watching my video
virberello thanks for the quick reply, i dissected my petcock out of curiosity, i cleaned the pin hole near the vacuum gasket hole, and adjust or pull the spring to make it strong,. now my scooter is one click starting again. once again thank you very much
I have a question my 150cc scooter starts up fine but after riding it for a bit it’ll lose power and come to a complete stop does anyone know why ? And if so how do I fix it ?
Hello Chance you can check the air filter to see if is clean if that is ok if you losing power is possible that you need a valve adjustment. check this video th-cam.com/video/5vl1mrTVCQ0/w-d-xo.html . Thank you for watching my video
Hi ok step 1 peacock is working 2 lets check the vacuum line for any breaks or leaks to make sure that keeps the gas valve open at all time when the motor is running , if vacuum line is in good condition now you can open the carburetor and clean the inside and check if the jets are clean. Step 3 check if your spark plug is good or you need a new one and make sure to check if you have a good and clear spark. Your scooter works with gas + air + electricity one of the 3 is not working properly Thank you for watching my video
Hi man. I left my manual fuel shut off valve on overnight. So scared of permanent damage it will do to my engine. Any way to reverse what i have done? Would this be very harmful to my engine asnit might flood the carb, airbox and cylinder? Thanks
Hello Nino no problem my friend inside the carburetor there is a float that is the second safe protection to your engine so when the carburetor ball is full the float close the entrance for the gas so will not overflow to the engine I personally never close the manual fuel shut off valve if I use the motorcycle everyday but if I know that I will not use my motorcycle for few day I close the valve and finish my fuel with engine on to make sure that my carburetor is dry and the reason why I do that is because the fuel now and days is not made great quality and after few days will become glue for your jets inside your carburetor. Anyway no damage to your engine but if you remember to close the valve every time your engine will stay cleaner. Thank you for watching my video
In theory the petcock can/should be removed/bypassed; and you can have fuel go directly (using gravity) lined to the Carburetor?? If the Petcock can be easily bypassed with a reachable fuel shut-off valve instead, where do you put the vacuum lines so everything will still work? [Assuming a 2008 GY6 150cc Peace Motorscooter]

@@jamiechap7969 Ok so if the scooter was sitting for long time is possible that the ethanol in the fuel damage your petcock fuel valve membrane and the fuel pass from the vacuum line directly to the manifold bypassing the carburetor and leaking directly inside the cylinder and from there passing to the oil from the cylinder walls so at the end you only going to need a new petcock fuel valve amzn.to/2CMxJqD

You can test the petcock by hooking it up to a small container of gasoline and see if it flows.

Well I've been trying to get my Sym fiddle 3 going for 5 days, it had been standing for 6 months, I'd been doing some on it , Anyway, it wouldn't start ,Battery flat every time, Found out no petrol coming past petrol filter.was it vacuum pump ? After watching this video for 3 nights, took it of , & tested it like "Virberello" said, put new spark plug in.fresh petrol, Vacuum pump was fine, But at first it wasn't working, put it all back Day 5 it started, 😂.So Thankyou for those tips, God Bless. 😂.

Hello Ernest Thank you for watching my video greetings from Florida
Hi Viberello,i have only discovered your e.mail, thank you, your video was very helpful, best wishes,Ernest.
@@VirberelloScooterTips thank you so.much for your help I really appreciate it you are awesome

Watch your videos all the time , I have a question do I have to use a splitter for the vacuum hoses where can I take one hose of one side of the intake and run it to the petcock and then out of the other Port from the intake run It to the carburetor

hello sir..i have a problem with mu new scooter..i already clean the filter and still experiencing the problem..is it the fuel cock ? because im experiencing a shortage fuel supply while i was driving...i dont know what to do sir...please help
Hello my friend try to by pass the petcock fuel valve with a long hose directly from the tank to the carburetor and go for a test run and see if your scooter is running a lot better if not the problem is inside your fuel tank like having dirt on the lower side of the tank . Thank you for watching my video
hey love the videos i have a problem with my moped when i drive it for around 10 to 20 minutes it’s starting to die i press the throttle and it bogs down and it wont start it it cools down anything that will help me
Hello Vselly I have the feeling that your need to inspect you fuel cup make sure that is clean because there is a possibility that is making a vacuum in the tank but if you say that this happen after 10 to 20 minutes this is a sign of a bad stator because one of the wire in the poles get very hot and get disconnected and when it cool down like magic reconnect himself so the best way is to replace your stator.

Mine has 2 hoses from fuel tank to petcock one hose on top and one on bottom how do I check if petcock is working?
Hello Cholo so you have a 4 lines petcock to test
that is the same way the line on the center is always a vacuum line is the line that open the valve when you make a vacuum to the line or the second way is to connect directly the line that goes from the carburetor to the lower side of your tank and do a test drive If that goes well your petcock is not good . Thank you for watching my video
virberello GY6 Tips and Tricks it has three the two on the right of petcock go to the fuel tank. The tank has one on top and one on bottom and the one on right of petcock goes to carb. Can the fuel tank cap be my problem? Not getting air inside?
I have a Tao Tao 150cc scooter that bogs and shutters badly at idle, but once i get it going it runs well at high speed so its getting gas, but it wont go unless i help it with my feet and push it until it gets going.

Why does the hose have to be clear?

Thank you for watching my video
virberello thank u very much for your help! Probably its what you say!
Yeah that was the problem. Mine is just all open, all the time. So my entire fuel tank drained out through my carburetor exhaust hose. Bummer too cus we have no scooter parts store, I have to wait a week for the part to come in the mail
yes many times the fuel valve is like a silence problem and little by little can drain your tank

Good Luck john and thank you for watching my video

thanks a lot bro ... i have problem .. when i let the throutl go the scooter shut down and i have to stay about 10 seconds to start it again. can you help me?

Hello Matthew you can buy a Pack of Performance Racking Round Ac Fired 6 Pins Cdi + Ignition Coil + 3 Elecrode Spark Plug for Chinese for 50cc Gy6 on amazon amzn.to/2xEoIQN I did that one time with my old scooter but I didn't get any more performance out of that but one time I upgrade my scooter with a KIT 50cc 4 Stroke GY6/QMB139: Clutch + Torque and Clutch Shoe Springs set (1500RPM) and I put an High Performance Racing Variator Kit for 4-Stroke GY6 50cc and I felt little more performace amzn.to/2Jh0ihv but what I like you to know the more speed you give to a scooter the more vibration you will have on a 50 cc frame scooter so you can fly with the scooter but soon or later your frame of your scooter will brake.a 50cc scooter frame is design for a scooter traveling a max of 45 miles. unless every times you add more speed you need to reinforce the frame. Think about it :-)

Got my scooter to idel perfect but has soon had i give it some throttle it dies.. Also I cleaned the carb and still does it any suggestions?
Hello if your scooter works great on Idle that means the pilot jet works fine if you give some throttle and the scooter dies your main jet could be dirty and need to be clean or if your scooter was parked for long time the top carburetor diaphragm amzn.to/2LgYB50 rubber is getting old and is sticking to the walls of the carburetor and not raising the needle you can try to spray the diaphragm with silicone lubricant amzn.to/2IDDmsv .

Hi Matthew if your exhaust make a rattle noise you can try to open a clean out and remove the inside mash but I think is going to be a little challenging to put that exhaust back together because the quality of the product is no good on chinese scooter so sometime I just like to buy new or gently used part on line change the part and don't go crazy sometime the money you spend is cheaper than the time you put in :-) . hey thanks for the video, ive been trying to solve this issue on my scooter for awhile,i have a gy6 ice bear that when you give it full throttle after a while it will die out. i will have to pull over and give it a rest for a moment before it will run again. is this maybe the petcock not supplying fuel? or maybe an electric issue? ive been stumped if any one knows what i should do
Hello Patar If you like to see if the petcock is the reason of your problem just bypass the petcock with a 3 ft 3/16 clear tube from the fuel tank to the carburetor directly and go for a test drive if everything goes right and your scooter run great you need to order a new petcock or do a vacuum line inspection if you still have the problem I think you need to adjust the valves. good day sir, thanks for the information,. how about if my petcock fuel line is continuously flowing gasoline even my motor is off and i not doing any vacuum?
Hello Maurice is one of the lucky situation because your scooter is working and the part is failing. The petcock is a safety valve to make sure the carburetor does not over flow the second safety device is the floater inside the carburetor if that fail too you are in trouble and the gas goes everywhere so when you have time please change your petcock valve and you will feel safer riding your scooter.
Your scooter works with gas + air + electricity one of the 3 is not working properly

@@jamiechap7969 Ok so if the scooter was sitting for long time is possible that the ethanol in the fuel damage your petcock fuel valve membrane and the fuel pass from the vacuum line directly to the manifold bypassing the carburetor and leaking directly inside the cylinder and from there passing to the oil from the cylinder walls so at the end you only going to need a new petcock fuel valve amzn.to/2CMxJqD
