- The US jobs report for April came in softer than expected, with nonfarm payrolls advancing 175 thousand last month, the smallest gain in six months. The unemployment rate also ticked up to 3.9% and wage gains slowed. Reach Capital Partner Jomayra Herrera joins Ed Ludlow to break down what the report means for tech jobs, and to explain why we tend to be bad at predicting what types of jobs will be created following large technology shifts like that of generative AI. She speaks on "Bloomberg Technology."

Hired at a premium and fired at an instance like an investment bank
It's the overall health of the economy, it's not good.
hahaha, Jomayra really doesn't check the news about tech or she doesn't understand tech. There are layoff in tech almost every week and the number of open tech jobs are small, Plus looking for a tech job right now it's crazy hard. There are a lot of competition for the same job opening. So it's hard to find a tech job. This lady is smoking something.

Create more jobs in the arts. Tons of tech , finance, project management, marketing, manufacturing just to make one film . So imagine more films and video productions being made. Do it, now!
lol @ all the replacement talk. Does anyone have a case study proving "replacement" is actually occurring or is it just a spicy headline?
Hired too many people in the last of couple of years in technology. It is no surprise they are cutting. In fact, it is surprising they took so long. Still so much excess and I see so many employed have nothing to do for days at a stretch.
Idk where you're working but i see the opposite.
Being in IT for 8 years, I can say that it's cyclical. Most companies that I worked for, I found that we have the busy as heck times of the season including various projects that bring in emerging technology. We also have our times when everyone is taking vacation or the holiday season. It depends on where you work though like the other poster said. Right now we are dead as heck though and only get a few tickets between like 4 techs in our area.
you’re so confused. they are outsourcing the jobs to India. Literal boomer statement from you.
@@Milk-rn5uq That’s cyclical too. New mgmt comes in, cuts costs with outsourcing, everyone complains after a few years they go back to onshore, rinse and repeat.

The lipstick has worn off.
What is tech "labor"?
People in tech jobs obviously
labor is just another word for work, so they're talking about tech "jobs".
it means automated ad sells maintenance person
Just what it is in other sectors. The people who work at building the core product/service.
It means BS jobs
Tech is the worst thing to go into, AI will replace many tech workers.
Tech meaning software development?
why do you assume thats different from any other field?
@@GothamsFinest well there are very few highly skilled developers who knows about hacking, assembly lanauguage, cybersecurity rest of them are deserver to be replaced by AI
@@GothamsFinest most of the IT/ software development teams in the companies are not smart, I know it from experience, they get the funds from buisness teams and buisness teams dont know anything about technology and they can be decived and fooled easily by software development divisions. I think AI can prevent such attacks in the future and also AI can create such attacks
AI replaces non-engineer roles only....
