The BOSS BP-1W Booster/Preamp! - Add Secret Seasoning To Your Tone From Vintage BOSS Preamps!

  • Dagan checks out the stunning new BOSS BP-1W Booster/Preamp pedal! The vintage BOSS CE-1 Chorus Ensemble and RE-201 Space Echo are legendary for their inspiring and influential effect sounds. But they’re also loved for their variable analog preamp circuitry, which instantly infuses any guitar tone with character, body, and richness. With the BP-1W, you can now access these two classic preamp tones in a premium Waza Craft pedal, along with a natural, clear voice that functions as a standard clean boost.

In this video Dagan goes in-depth explaining how back in the day, certain pre-amps in pedals and effects (like the BOSS CE-1 Chorus & the Roland RE-201 Space Echo) added a touch of colour, and in some cases saturation, to guitar players signal! So without realising these guitarists were adding an unknown secret sauce to their tone, pushing it to the next level, when all they thought was adding a neat Chorus or Delay to their chain! Now YOU can do the same with the Boss BP-1w!

    Three Modes, Endless Possibilities:
Versatility is at the heart of the BP-1W. With three distinct modes, you can sculpt your sound to perfection.
    - CE Mode: Immerse yourself in the bright, bell-like preamp sound of the BOSS CE-1 Chorus Ensemble. Dial in anything from gentle warmth to aggressive brilliance with the Gain knob.
    - RE Mode: Replicate the fat, warm preamp character of the Roland RE-201 Space Echo. This mode adds richness and depth, allowing you to craft powerful driven sounds with vintage analog compression.
    - NAT Mode: Need a clean boost? The NAT mode offers a pristine, color-free volume boost. It's the perfect choice when you want your sound to shine through without alteration.

The only trouble is, you think you’ll use it as an occasional boost, but because it sounds great it’s always on… and now you need another temporary volume booster 😅

I always asked the same thing after buying an amp they had and it sounded nothing like them. Until you boost the amp and use a OD pedal, Boost, and then maybe add something like a compressor pedal that would send even this tone over the top in delicious smoothness for leads.

Would you recommend this or the noble screamer? I’m looking for a good pedal to push my metal tones as well as getting that nice breakup on a clean channel. I have a 2 channel tube amp that does great cleans and great metal tones. And I want a pedal that will kinda give me kinda a middle channel.

Does jammin Boss BP-1W make anyone else really happy?
Boss BP-1W is quickly becoming my favorite pedal. It's just so beautiful and sexy. Practically free and the second you drop her on the board that chill ass mofo gives you a Rich Dark Gushing Robust tone.. And you also get this cute little 1/1 feedback response usually too harmless to be forgotten.
But more than that, the Boss BP-1 is just so positively alluring. It comes on the board like "do you want to cast a spell?" and I'm like "yeah BP-1W i do want to cast a spell let's do this shit" and when she attacks she's like "SPELLS ARE FUN" and I'm like "yeah they are SO FUN." She doesn't say some bullshit macho shit like "I will destroy you" she's just like "nah spells are fun and voodoo spooky.” And she looks so happy. I mean this is an inanimate object that literally brought my guitar to life by magic. It understands it's life is a temporary magical gift and the dude is just fucking loving it. I mean just look at her face she’s just so happy and cute as a button.
I am literally never sad when Boss BP-1W is on board. IDK if she's gonna ever make it into the pedal HOF or not, but for now she a super chill pedal.
