Here's my idea for future remakes, if a track shown is an official Nintendo track, you should specify what version / DLC pack it first appears in.

Dude who made that Banshee Boardwalk track needs to get hired ASAP. That's an S-tier remake right there. They even nailed lighting, which is especially impressive for these MK8 custom tracks

It's not only the lighting, it's what they did with the track itself! You can ride on a sunken Daisy Cruiser with antigravity, and jump between the broken piers (no pun intended)! This feels like a brand new base Mario kart 8 track (you know, those of very high quality before we got the atrocious BCP tracks).

Banshee Boardwalk and N64 Wario Stadium Have to Come Back.
Banshee Boardwalk has a very fun reinterpretation, props to the creator of that mod in particular.
Koopa Troopa Beach looks really legit, same with Moo Moo Farm, even if both are directly taking most assets from Cheep Cheep Beach and Moo Moo Meadows respectively.

@@Roxlecmc Yes but KTB and MMF are the most obvious. They look the most natural, specially because of the lighting not fucking up the models like it happens with other modded courses.

By far the best here is Banshee Boardwalk. I can only hope it looks that good whenever it gets remade! All around, it's great to see how much the modding community for this game has drastically improved.
Banshee Boardwalk is so much more interesting than I expected. Also, I think it's hilarious that you added the Mario's burning voice clip form Super Mario 64 into the background at 15:08 😂

My only beef really with the entire selection here is with Sherbet Land, and the lack of penguins given it's the biggest thing that the track had people remember it having. And especially now that we have them in spades thanks to the BCP, hopefully they can be added so it truly feels complete.

@@vexedtrack277no they dont, they’ve remade choco mountain twice. Mario Kart DS and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. And they did the exact same with Kalimari Desert in Mario Kart 7 and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe.

@@ilikesonicxbro The base retro tracks in the Mario Kart games have only first-time retros. They seem to make an exception when it comes to DLC since their cups have a mix of both nitro and retro.
I was sad about Royal Raceway. The best part of the N64 version was going to the Castle as it was a replica from Super Mario 64.
To see it closed off in the remake upset me :(

Most of these are fantastic and legit takes on the old tracks, with Banshee Boardwalk taking the cake for me.

Lighting isnt the main message. They tried at least. Its hard already to just make the structures and base colors and shadings of it. If its always lighting that yall are so worried about then every game by now should just have them. Thus, abusing its powers.

Bowsers castle was my personal favorite. The music was perfect!! I love the whole opera voices doing the music and combining that with the visuals of the castle make it fear inducing and that's what I love about this remake of n64 bowsers castle

i'm with everyone on Banshee Boardwalk looking badass. the idea of using a wrecked ship to make the hairpin at the end was freaking genius.
i also like how this version of Wario Stadium just throws everything and the kitchen sink into it, that's very Wario when you think about it. not to mention this makes the track that much more lively, the original was such a drag.
For the ones that didn't make the BCP, we'll probably see some return in the next entry.

Banshee Boardwalk and Wario Stadium were absolutely amazing renditions of those tracks. I think Bowser’s Castle was excellently made, and a great track in its own right, however I think that the overall theme that the original had, with the dark corridors and garden section, would’ve made it a more faithful remake.
Todas essas pistas refeitas demonstram todo o carinho que cada fã tem pelo Mario kart 8, com algumas destas pistas sendo superiores do que algo que a Nintendo possivelmente faria no booster pass... It does my heart good seeing and knowing people out there are talented enough to bring some of these courses to life again for what could've been a nice Mario Kart 8 update. MK64 was my introduction to Mario Kart as a whole, so this definitely brings a smile to my face.
Now if someone could just do Wario Colosseum from Double Dash, then that would truly be the cherry on top for me (unless I missed that somewhere, this is the first time I've every stumbled on your channel).

Great work from the re-creators! However, can see why Nintendo passed-up some of these. They were great at the time but quite dull now (eg. Luigi Raceway and Mario Raceway). Wario Stadium, Banshee Boardwalk and even Sherbet Land are much improved, however 👌 Soft spot for Koopa Trooper Beach, too 👀

@@MarioPower55 It’s literally my favorite song ever at the moment because every time I hear it I see the good past, I also have Troy to thank for leading me to this when I watched his Maple Treeway Olympics and his Top 40 Custom Tracks of 2012 finale. I also like Plain Asia as it come from an era when Trance, Nightcore and Touhou songs were in every single Mario Kart video Troy made, and when rap wasn’t everywhere.

A lot of these courses are pretty fantastic, with the only negatives for me, being Wario Stadium & Banshee Boardwalk, the stadium, just feels...way too busy and possibly hard to maintain any decent amount of speed, and Boardwalk was perfect, minus the song used. Beyond that, great remakes!
That Wario Staidum remake had some really good ideas, but the layout is a bit messy, and the textures and lightning are just passable.
The Banshee Broadwalk on the other hand ? The antigrav section just had a sharp angle change that felt weird, otherwise it's absolutely perfect.
it really looks like MK8 is the true successor of MK64 this way.

@@aidenemerson670 What I would do to make it better is make it only 2 laps, make it scaled better and also have a bunch of trickable spots throughout, it’s making me think of Wario’s Lair in a way since Wario’s Lair was inspired by this track many years ago. I liked the old version more than the remake because even though it’s completely jank and very long, I feel nostalgic over it and Luigi M’s version doesn’t hit the same way, it doesn’t feel much like a lair compared to thondam’s version.
@@LiamDeege I'd say add in some obstacles like firebars from the other 2 stadiums and add in more decorations in the background instead of those stupid ass wario heads that were planted everywhere

Even when imprisoned in Bowser's Castle, the Toads are happy to see the race.
The music remix of Bowser's castle doesn't really capture what made the original song so special, but I gotta be honest, it's still really cool and climactic, it just needs a few instruments here and there.
