I’m not Jaspreet, but does your friend have an emergency fund/account? If not, he/she should put at least $1-2k into an emergency fund to cover emergencies- hospital, car breakdowns, etc. Next, does the friend have any credit card debt? They need to either pay off the smallest cards first, then the larger balances/interest rates. If there is any money left over, they can start a Roth IRA with either Vanguard or Fidelity, and put the money into an S&P index fund or ETF.
They are sitting on the sidelines, while you inch down the field. I think this is just people trying to justify inaction and avoid reality. There is no excuse to avoid improving your finances, even if it wont make you rich or will take time.
I agree, get rich quick is ridicoulous and will fail people 99% of the time. As you said 0% APR is very dangerous because you think you are saving money but your spending increases tremendously with affordability. Rule of 5 is a great thing if followed in a self disciplined way because it limits both your buying and spending. Monthly payments make stuff seem affordable but in the long term these small payments add up and in times of a bad market this can be detrimental.
PRO TIP: If you encounter a get-rich-quick offer that intrigues you and you want to explore it more...determine the right key words and go over to Amazon and find a book that covers the topic. 99/100 times, someone has already written a book about it for a small fraction of what you would pay for the guru's program. If you find it is not something you are willing to do, you are only out a few dollars instead of thousands.
Getting ready to buy a car this week. Your comment in this video of " if you can't buy 5 of them, you can't afford 1 of them " is epic ! I am sitting here looking over multiple offers that differ by 400 bucks or so and trying to justify one being better over the other when I played this video. I realized I could buy more than 5 of them in cash and that settled it for me. Going with the color we like best even though it's 500 more bucks. In the end, doesn't move the needle on our finances. Just that if you have been a saver and investor for a long time, it is sometimes hard to flex the spending muscle. Thanks !!
Gifts will add up very very quickly as stated, show them love and care over the holidays. It's better not to start certain things because hey add up and over time we need more of anything, more expensive cars, purses, memberships, in order to give us the same amount of pleasure. So many people would have a lot more money if they practice minimalism and only spent money on things that are going to help them. I have bought my cell phones in cash and avoided the revolving wallet trap. I also buy clothes and electronics when I absolutely need to and then get the best price.
Great video. Only thing I disagree with is vacations seem like a luxury not a good thing to spend money on unless you’re rich. Maybe a cheap vacation or stay at home staycation. New phones are pointless for most people but maybe photographers and videographers can put it to good use at least.
Phone is a good one. I always walk in and say what's the cheapest phone I can get. Got a pixel 3 when the pixel 5 was coming out. Paid almost nothing for it because it was "old"
Yep, that's a great way to save money and pay cash. In my case, I bought an iPhone 6 when it was new because I wanted top of the line for my work. Turns out that I could have saved a lot because I don't need all that the phone can do. On the other hand, once paid off (yeah, I did payments), I haven't replace it. Don't need an iPhone 12 on payments when a paid-for iPhone 6 works perfectly fine.
I bought a Samsung S3 when the S5 came out, replaced it with the S7 when the S9 came out and bought the S10 when the S20 came out. I also keep my phones for four to five years so my investment is returned in monthly savings in year 3-5.
Eating out in credit card debt will make it impossible to get out of the debt. Credit card companies can charge up to 19-20% interest rates, while this may seem reasonable and you may see that you are able to cover the minimum payment each time that is a silverlining just because on the outside it seems good you are meeting the minimum. BUT very FEW people see the opportunity cost of this. The opportunity cost is that you are losing the chance to have over an 19% return on your money. The impact is not direct because you think of it as bills but the opportunity cost is what must be considered.
I'm going to highlight one of the key sentences found in the video. 06:41 timestamp. If it does not earn, you can't afford to pay interest on it! Brilliant point!

I was asked once long ago if I had any regrets? At the time... no regrets. Now I realize I do have the regret of not learning these financial basics at a very young age.
I got serious with investing. When it comes to crypto, I read on articles to see what is going on. I just been buying same bags when it comes to investing. Small bags become big bags.
I only buy one lotto ticket every two weeks, you can’t win if you’re not in. But even buy two doesn’t really help your chances so I only buy one at a time, Essentially it’s free money if you ever did win
I understand that spending money on nice things I don't need is a waste of money, but what about spending money on "nicer" things I actually do need vs buying a mediocre product for less money? Example - I've been looking at vacuums, is buying a Dyson better than sub $200 vacuums at target? I could look into real good brands like Sebo or Riccar but I can't buy 5 of them to afford 1.
Love your videos, but wouldn’t you disagree with the concept of having enough to buy 5 of something before you buy 1; when it comes to houses? Even if I am super blessed I’ll only put down ≈20% so why would you wait?
Hey Jaspreet, question, when you say invest your money at an interest rate of 19% annually. What sort of investing do you mean? stocks? because i have a savings account that just give 0.5% interest. Thanks!
You get to make that call for yourself, I'm on it. Just by the maths, playing one game has infinitaly more chance of winning, than not playing. Then again still practically zero. If just for "the fun of the game" it's still worth it, go for it. I mean still financially unwise, bit as fun/ hobby, not financially detrimental with great moderation. Here in Hungary a lotto ticket is priced around the same as one decent beer. That's fine for me. I know Jaspreet also said no drinking... but that's more about people who go drinking with buddies 3-4 rounds every friday-saturday and sometimes workday nights then wonder why they still broke and why their liver is dead by age 30. I'm in the 1-2 beer per week range. If you wreck yourself mentally trying to make it you'll burn out before getting there. That's no excuse for slacking, but everyone can find their own balance, then keep improving and reinventing themselves.
Jaspreet, I've always moved with that if-you-can't-buy-5 thing since you said it the first time. However should this be the same with non-critical medical procedures? Say work on your teeth the will eventually need done anyway and could just get worse?
If you don't have a car, you have to hire one to get around. It's kind of like paying rent because you can't buy the house...You're still paying, unless you were lucky enough to inherit one.

I got serious with investing. When it comes to crypto, I read on articles to see what is going on. I just been buying same bags when it comes to investing. Small bags become big bags.
Another good one kinda off #9 and the one with "vices" alcohol cigs etc. Some people drink and do other vices when upset. Also EXTREMELY dangerous
I only buy one lotto ticket every two weeks, you can’t win if you’re not in. But even buy two doesn’t really help your chances so I only buy one at a time, Essentially it’s free money if you ever did win
Hey Jaspreet can you do a video on what to do when you turn 18? That would be super helpful!
@Minority Mindset SCAM ALERT!!
Love those points .
You're awesome. Thank you for your videos.
Great Financial Lesson🙏🏿👏🏿👍🏿👊🏿
This is how I get hype for my day.
Always a good start to my day. Thank you Jaspreet
Awesome video paaji 👍🏻👍🏻 keep it up 👍🏻
This guy is different to Dan Lok
I very enjoy watching this guy👍
Love your videos, but wouldn’t you disagree with the concept of having enough to buy 5 of something before you buy 1; when it comes to houses? Even if I am super blessed I’ll only put down ≈20% so why would you wait?
Great video!
Very good information..THANKS!!!
Hey Jaspreet, question, when you say invest your money at an interest rate of 19% annually. What sort of investing do you mean? stocks? because i have a savings account that just give 0.5% interest. Thanks!
Jasprit I just gifted you a 👍
🙏🙏🙏
How can this be applied to me as I don't live in the US is there a way around this to get into the US market from the Caribbean.
very good video
Your do awesome 😎 educating the masses .
Also, 0% APR goes to pay through your a$ in interest if you miss or are late with only one payment.
Jaspreet (I hope and doubt i spelled that right), would you be opposed to a single 2 dollar lotto ticket? I mean you only have to get lucky once.
Great information! Thank you
But Jaspreet! These are America’s favorite pastimes!
😂😂😂
Sure is!
Lmao
😂😂😂
Great video man!
This channel is an absolute gem💎 💎. So glad I found it--thanks for the great content!
Jaspreet, I've always moved with that if-you-can't-buy-5 thing since you said it the first time. However should this be the same with non-critical medical procedures? Say work on your teeth the will eventually need done anyway and could just get worse?
Respectfully disagree on 0% APR...
For some of us is a great way to avoid interests and keep extra money in the brokerage account.
If you don't have a car, you have to hire one to get around. It's kind of like paying rent because you can't buy the house...You're still paying, unless you were lucky enough to inherit one.
I just bought some more silver 😇💀 my friend called me an idiot while calling his weed guy. Soooo i ordered some more silver 😂😂😂

Silver spot price has always been a joke even in recessions.
