My Homelite will start but won't stay running. Found the inlet fuel line broke off inside the tank. Replaced it along with the included fuel filter. Still won't run. 12 bucks for a new carb? Done!! Thanks for this video man!
Just put a new carb on my st-155. It came with carb, gaskets, new fuel lines, fuel filters, spark plug, and carb adjustment tool. The kit was $13. Runs better than it ever has.
I bought the exact same brand/type weedwacker about 14 years ago, still runs like a champ. Never overhauled the carb. It has always idled a little bit high since day one. Good video
May be unrelated but fixed similar motor yesterday, wouldn't rev up all the way and discovered blocked spark arrestor on muffler. Solid carbon from likely too much oil in mix from previous owner. Yeah I was one of the millions, had mine for about 6 years. Gas tank started leaking; I had ideas on taking it apart but I saw a deal on a Black&Decker lithium power unit; bought it and never looked back. I have about 1/2 acre that I trim after mowing and it works great on one charge for the light stuff. The gas units are great for more challenging areas to work on. Although the speedier video is funny to watch sometimes I think some people looking for details in your repair videos may end up missing all you have to offer. You can slow it down but then you miss some good commentary. Just a though...
I just got a battery powered black in decker from my same brother in law. It was thrown out and I put in a new 12V lead acid battery for about $12 shipped. I really like it because I set it up for my wife so she can use it when she does her weeding and the like. I'm on the fence about the speed of video. I have other videos of the same content that go at normal speed. The videos seem to long if I just go at normal speed. I'm finding fast and then slowing down for details keeps in short and interesting. Thanks for the feeback Point taken.
Electric is replacing gas for just about everything. My Worx electric lawn mower works great. If one of my cars ever wears out I'll be replacing it with an EV.
@@accidental_relevance you shouldn't replace for an ev quite yet. It actually can cause increased amounts of CO2 production if more people buy them do to not having the proper fully green energy grid to make them help the environment
Great video. My 10 year old Ryobi was stalling under throttle, found that the small screen was fully clogged. A bit of a clean up and reassemble and I'm back in business!
The carburetor screen was stopped up, but the tank filter is okay, so more than likely the fuel lines were on backwards. Many of these from the factory come with fuel lines installed backwards on these carbs in where you must install the fuel line with the tank filter onto the carb connection closest to the primer bulb. So being the carb screen was clogged it was running off of the fuel return line that has no filter. The primer bulb connection is the suction side people.

Very nice video that proves it might be worth cleaning the carb, even on the least expensive weed wacker. Congrats too on the 30K subs...it'd be great if you could hit 50K by the end of the year....you deserve it and your videos are definately worth it.
First check that the fuel pipes have not perished and split allowing air to be sucked in. E10 Petrol/Gas that has bioethanol content will destroy some plastic fuel pipes. I have just diagnosed & repaired this problem with a Titan multi-strimmer.

Thanks for the helpful video. I just got one one of these at work a guy was throwing in the dumpster. Gas in it was like green/black sludge. Gonna fart around with it and try cleaning the carb and fuel filter. It runs if you keep moving the choke after some fresh gas.

I was thinking the opposite. I which he did explain everything so I knew what he was doing and using. First thing was marking the carb with a marker. What was that for? What was in the tube and what part did he use it on?
You might have to manipulate your fuel line inside the gas tank so that it's always at the "bottom" of the fuel pool in the most common holding positions.

Very nice video and how to rebuild the carb. I haven't checked the screen in the carb, but mine will not keep the primer bulb full, the lines were loose going into the tank but I pulled them up out of the tank until they were tight and blowed compressed air through both fuel lines, still having trouble keeping the primer to hold gas, I have had it running when I took off the top plate with the primer bulb and removed a rubber diaphragm and forgot to put it back on and put the primer plate back on and it did pump up gas and would run with the choke in the middle, but will die when I drop the choke off. I saw where I had not put the rubber diaphragm back in so I did that and now will not prime up for me, any idea's?
I have so much trouble cranking mine by the time i get it cranked im already tired, plus I don't have on safety glass and and proper shoes to weed eat cause I don;t think it will crank!!! I have electric and I hate it to plugs come undone so much trouble the both of them.. shew
Those 2 cycle engines are a P I T A. There's a local repair guy in town who won't even look at them. I've had some luck repairing them, but they are tricky. Never saw grease on the spring before.Exactly what does the grease do?
They are not worth fixing because a new one is $80, that is why small engine guys don't fix them because it will cost more than that to fix them. The grease just holds the spring and makes things easier.

You can use a dremmel tool to cut slots in the high and low speed jets. Then turn away. If you have to drill a hole to access them.
Homelite has the inexpensive easy to rebuild carb. Ryobi has a 70 dollar or more rotary valve carb that is near impossible to rebuild.
The grease just holds the spring and makes things easier.
perfect example of the "dunning kruger" effect.....
My Robie the weedeater will not stay running, my mechanic says it is no good, fix this problem or I will change brands

You need to be careful when pulling vacuum on the fuel line with your Mity-Vac. They don't like liquids of any kind...especially fuel.
I agree. I don't do a vacuum check with fuel in the tank because of that.
Nice work, thanks!
