    the model is based off volunteer work, why wasnt just the marketplace monetized ? it would have solved the flippers and scammers issue. best of luck to them.

    I have so much regret not selling off a big portion of my pops when I wanted to. Not because of where the price is at now, but because what you mentioned in this video, which is NOBODY is buying collections any more.

  • @Rollormotor

    Comic books, trading cards are also huge collector base, sports memorabilia. Hobby DB will still be free you just cant track your collection for free. I would pay just to have the adds go away from my collection tracker

    The person who makes "PPG" a like page and makes it work with AI that's correct 99,99999..% of the time with the pricing, that person will win that game! 😶‍🌫

    Haven’t used hobbydb for year+
    eBay recent sales is the only way I see price of my pops
    Gave up trying to have collection on website, I buy pops n never remember to add lol

    PPG is just for making profit, but I am getting out the hobby since Funko is making way too many decisions that are good for them but bad for the exclusivity of the collectible. So I am just going to refer back to my purchase history and at least break even.

    Great Vid as always, though I saw it after your Live with Christian. I really enjoyed your Live and found it most informative.
    First off. Chris either go back to wearing the Mischief Toys Caps, or allow Heather to style your hair! 🤪🤪🤪
    It’s just a bit on the wild side. 🤪
    With regards to the subject of this vid I think people do not realize how expensive it is to run and maintain the amount of servers needed to store such a massive database.
    That alone makes the $29.95 a year well worth the price of admission.
    Also I think it’s laughable that people are complaining and state that it’s not affordable, but they can afford to spend hundreds or thousands a year on Pops and other collectibles.
    Chris & Heather you guys Rock!!!

    The app started crashing after the pandemic rush. They asked for investors about 2 years ago which got them this far. Now they are begging to stay afloat.

    The Funko app didn't work for months until it made the switch to ebay and it seems to work just fine ever since. Sadly it works so well I've watched my collections value drop over $4K in less than 9 months. I didn't make the switch to Hobby DB when Funko app went down like many . I do understand they need to keep things running some how and for $30 a year ? seems reasonable IMO.

    • @Gastlecast
      @Gastlecast  9 วันที่ผ่านมา

      $30 a year for inaccuracy tho? 🤔

  • @franktripoli1331
    @franktripoli1331 9 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

    I am more disappointed that the fact that every sale is being recorded and not taking account condition which is tanking values because someone sold a smashed up funko for Pennies and that is why a lot of people stopped collecting and are selling off with this and the changes with funko

  • @LekaLeka2
    @LekaLeka2 8 วันที่ผ่านมา

    This change is an immediate no for me. The better option would should have been like a discogs model. They should allow people to be buy and sell collectables via the site and take a small percentage of the sale or a flat fee. This will move is going to turn off alot of people and maybe a move to the end of hobbydb.

    $30 a year wouldn’t be bad if we got an app and the prices were accurate. I use Hobby DB to log all of my many collectibles other than Funko and prices are not reliable. Looks like I won’t be logging and tracking anymore because I’m not seeing the value in paying.

  • @gregorycadd7778

    The reason Funko would give you the chance to cancel is that since folks thought "Well I didn't get one of those, guess I'll buy a box from Boom Loot. Now they've spent the money they had and Funko now is going to charge them the money for the one they really DID win this they now will be one drawn in their bank/credit account.

    Giggles and grins, I have an item in my collection on PPG that has maintained a value of $410 for at least the last 5 years. According to PPG there has not been a sale in 2 years. Just checked Ebay and in the last 4 months there have been sales of $375 and $500, which should make the average value $435. They're not keeping up with prices so why pay for any type of service?

    I rarely use it so ill decide if I want to pay but I've been a collector for years and I know most of my collector stores and they use it to make there business in the store or on whatnot so I'm pretty sure they will have to pay they need it more then me.

    Honestly, my only issue with this whole thing is the fact that they're taking things that were previously free and putting it behind a paywall. I like the other things they offer for the premium version. I know they'll keep adding stuff to add value to the premium version as well. I'm just hung up on the fact that they're forcing people to pay for something that's always been free to the users. (That is just my two cents)

    My question is, how does HobbyDB intend to compete with the Funko App, which will now be a free competitor to Pop Price Guide. I assume most users are using HBD/PPG to track Funko and I feel like this will push users to use the Funko App rather than PPG.

    • @Gastlecast

    If you're a shareholder, there is a discount which is nice. I paid $22.50 for the year. People are reacting like everything is leaving but you'll still be able to see the values of each item. All money is going to make the database better and no one is getting raises or anything. We don't get paid anything - no account upgrades for free, just a discount. If each person who uses the system would volunteer to add price points to 5 items would make the database so much better. But enough from me. I'm looking forward to Sundays video.

    Blaming funko for this makes little sense. Yes funko was a major contract of theirs but if your business relies entirely on one client its a questionable business. Overall this is sad to hear but overall not a big deal either way.

    • @Gastlecast
      @Gastlecast  9 วันที่ผ่านมา

      If 1,000 people pay into it, that is $30,000 a year (if they go annual), and I would imagine that would help them tremendously. They mentioned they have 700,000+ users, so if even 25% of that (175,000 people) paid the $30 annual fee, that would be over 5 million.

    With AI technology this service is overrated. We could literally put all our pops in a freaking excel spreadsheet with pictures but it’s whatever honestly
    Too much I could say not about to sit here and text about it
