    Don't be scared away from ab wheels and hanging leg raises because they are difficult to do properly. They are incredible core exercises and they will help you develop much faster than crunches of planks. Start with knee raises and slow negative ab wheel outs. After 2 sets of hanging leg raises I can no longer touch my toes to the bar and I have to do knee raises. No shame in that.

    I do an ab circuit at least 6 days a week. 3 sets of hanging leg raises, ab wheel outs, ab tucks/dips, and woodchoppers with some static holds. Sometimes I'll add some bicycles, situps or serratus work or add bands/weight to them. If you've never done bicycles on a bench with a band around your ankles, TRY IT.

    Rope crunches, wood chops and barbell rollouts are very effective and my favorite core exercises.

    Your core is the most important muscle group. I have a stronger core relative to any other muscle group and it makes it much easier to work other muscle groups efficiently. You don't want to be doing squats or pullups and be held back by a weak core.
    Don't get lost in ab training, IT'S CORE TRAINING.

    I think this may be due to genetics but I got abs really really fast from training with gymnastic still rings everyday. And I never really prioritize abs in my workout routine. I think the full body control that is necessary to succeed with the rings has been a huge help in developing my abs entirely.

      I think rings is good for every muscle group except legs.

    Honestly, for core muscles nothing beats compound exercises, specially the deadlift and squat. I always struggled with weak abs and wasted tons of time doing abs exercises in the gym but as soon as I started taking compounds seriously my abs started to show up even at higher bodyfat level.

    The platform for the abs to contract is the transverse,pelvic floor and diaphragm. Because the abs do not attach to bone,but to a ligament,it is imperative that you learn to contract intrinsic stabilizers first. Anyone can do abs,but it is not enough ,and won't build permanent core strength

    I always love your info, however, this time you have only addressed the rectus abdominus and not the rest of the musculature. The main issue I see is too much flexión and not enough stability and bracing. Especially not enough extension. There is not a good reason to train the rectus specifically until the obliques and TA are well trained along with the lumbar erectors and spinal stabilizers. Training flexión when the core is weak is correlated with back pain and Diastasis recti in obese or post partum individuals.

    How can you do a situp or work abs when you have a history of diastasis recti? I'm afraid to widen the gap doing traditional situps.

    I do hanging leg raises with the mentality of "showing your ass" and to be honest I feel my forearms before my abs

    Cable crunches with full range. Train it with increasing weight just like any other muscle that you want to grow.

    The best abs exercise bar NONE is the one you'll do, almost daily! However, you ain't going to see no abs if your diet and sleep aren't on point.

    Deadlift Is the only core exercise you’ll ever need. Maybe planks as well

    Lose body fat, lift heavy, total core workout. Remember due to gentics not everyone can get a "6" pack. Some can only have a 2 pack and some lucky people can get an 8 pack.

    Abs are weird man, in the right light you can see my abs poke out (15-17% body fat guessing), and I cant do a sit up... and its not like I ignore my abs either

      wow you are probably a young kid, like 20 yrs old. you need your dad to make your food and your mom to make you eat too. i start to working out 22 yrs ago, i was 17 yrs old. no internet, no web site. if we search for training information, all we had is book and asking people in the gym for advice. now you got every thing, all informations, video, youtube, podcast, but its not even enought for you little lazy kids. this generation is lost
