    Too much money...for some string benders, 3 to 400 is nuts for a metal bar and nuts, I made one myself out of a butter knife handle, sounds just like this!!

      Yes, far too much money for such a simple arrangement. Still, no one is forcing us to buy this accessory. The producer would probably sell more and make more money if the price was a bit less. My view only.

      Cool I thought about that too you can set stuff up like that, but this one allows you to fine tune it, set the height of the benders and tune the pitch you want to bend to exactly with 2 different benders and it’s built like a tank and stays in tune. I use it for recording and live music and I can’t be sitting there tuning and messing with jerry rigged stuff in the middle of my set so that’s why I decided to just go ahead and get what I know works.

    If you want to use the legs, you can just flip that bracket over and put it back on. I did it on mine and it works fine. The leg is adjustable so you'll have to shorten the adjustment a bit so it'll be level.

    Great Video... nice job!! Would be nice if you could have put Links... to where you purchased the Certano Bender & the Roller Bridge. I have the very same SX Lap Steel that you have... and would love to do the same mods... any chance you could send me links (in Reply to this comment) to where you purchased everything (except for the steel)? That swamp ash model has sustain forever. Adding the roller bridge and benders has to be a huge upgrade as well. Not crazy about the stock bridge, works ok, but aggravating to put strings on, and unnecessary for a lap steel. My tuners will stay tuned long enough to play, but I have to retune each session.

    • @dustinadair7893
      @dustinadair7893  ปีที่แล้ว

      I didn’t keep it stock for long so I don’t have much of an opinion on the bridge it had. That’s a bummer! I bought it and the benders at the same time and I played it for a day or 2 till the benders came then started modding it right away. I love this steel. Putting a dowel rod in for the benders now I can’t use the legs still but I haven’t really felt the need for them anyway.

    I don't know about other people's tuning stability issues but my 8 string SX has held tuning very well for me. And I use the stock angled bridge. Heck , I didn't even have to plug the leg hole with wood lol. I'm happy with it... especially since I raised the pickup to be closer to the strings now.

    Thanks for posting! I have an 8 string SX and just received my Certano benders, bridge and nut today. This video will be invaluable. I have a couple of questions. You could not install it without filling in the hole for the leg? Second, you did not get the roller nut. Any reason why? Third, what tuning do you use? Thanks again!

    • @dustinadair7893
      @dustinadair7893  ปีที่แล้ว

      Well Troy Brenningmeyers he said he installed it and the screw was sticking out of the bottom where the hole was with not much wood to anchor it down because of the hole for the leg stands so I had to glue wood in there, it’s not 100% necessary but it wont have much wood holding it if you don’t. I got the rolling nut because I thought the bridge it came with was kind of weird And the main reason is because if you’re bending the strings you’re pulling them, I’d assume you want The strings to be able to roll freely rather than rubbing on the sharp bridge. And I tune to open D

    • @dustinadair7893
      @dustinadair7893  ปีที่แล้ว

      Oh I read the question wrong. I didn’t get the roller nut - not sure why just didn’t I feel like I didn’t have any problems with the nut that was on it so far so might as well use it until I think I might need to upgrade.

    • @billgausman5887
      @billgausman5887 ปีที่แล้ว

      Certano's roller nut is just a little wide for the SX neck, so it sticks out a little. It functions just fine, though.

  • @jmtab

    Has anyone installed the Peter’s Pitch Witch on an SX lap steel? I wonder if the screw placement is better and doesn’t interfere with the leg hardware? He also makes a replacement stop tail piece that is smooth that appears that it might work on the SX.

    • @dustinadair7893
      @dustinadair7893  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I was going to get that one, its 4 screws so you might still need a dowel rod for stability. Also I went to buy those when they were on sale, I thought I purchased them but I must not have hit the “final purchase” button when they were on sale. I tried to buy them again and he said that sale was off and it’s too bad I’d have to pay full price now. So I said screw it I’ll get the certano ones and that was the best choice for me anyway.
