    Hi Jo, I know that you really care about your dogs and want them to be safe, so I just wanted to say that having them roam loose in the car whilst you're driving isn't safe - for them or for you.
    They might distract you - like they did at the drive through, but when you're actually driving. But more importantly, if you have an accident or even just stop suddenly then they could become a projectile and hurt themselves or you. It's the same as humans wearing seat belts in the car for safety.
    My parents use a crash tested crate for their dog, but there are many different options available. Just make sure you do a bit of research and get a reputable product, as some of the products for sale aren't actually safe for the dogs.
    It's something that lots of dog owners aren't aware of, but is very important to consider.

    • @penultimateh766
      @penultimateh766 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Seems like I have seen a harness product with a short lead that clips into a standard buckle. Kind of like a grooming table restraint. Lets them move around some but not leave the seat they're in.

    • @hannahk1306
      @hannahk1306 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      @@penultimateh766 Yes, I think they're often called doggy seatbelts - you just need to find one that's been properly tested. You also get ones that attach to the headrests on the back seats.
      They're a good option if your boot isn't big enough for the dog(s). I still think that it's safer to have them in the boot, instead of on the back seat though. Some of the designs you can use for either the backseat or the boot, so good if your dog needs to travel in different cars.

    I really miss being on the mat. I made it back once, but then my foot (aka my only foot) decided to go get a disease that could end in amputation. Martial arts helped me through so many hard things in the past, it's hard not being able to use the world's funnest coping mechanism during my current uncertainty and stress.

    I had a similar issue with a shower curtain, actually two in two different places. I'd leave the curtain down until i needed to shower but after it fell on my head a few times i had to find a way to make it stay... I found shower rod holders. They're adhesive tiles with a ledge to hold up the shower rod and they're a couple bucks on Amazon. They are awesome! No more attacking shower curtain rods XD

    Jo I completely understand the taking off your leg is the best thing in the world feeling. I may not be an Amputee but I was born with a disability on both legs that causes me to wear AFO braces in order to walk and do daily things like you would for your prosthetic leg. And let me tell you after a long day of having both foot propped up in a 90 degree angle taking that brace off is the best feeling in the world!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Bras has nothing on this feeling hahahaha

    Your journey with jiujitsu sounds like what it’s been like for me with Taekwondo! I just went back after a 10 year break because of consecutive injuries to my left knee and ankle so that I could get my black belt. I said I’d stop again once I got my belt but I quickly learned that training has been really good for my mental and physical health, so I made a commitment to keep it up too! There really are days that feel like you dont want to go, but we quickly learn that sometimes, we just have to show up. :)

    "Are you licking my back? Why are you licking my back?" 😂As far as jiu-jitsu goes, I have to imagine that the only thing more challenging than doing it without a leg would be doing it with a prosthetic leg - not to mention, as you said, the risk it might present to your training partners ... part limb, part club! I'm glad you're enjoying the training though, even on the days when you feel like you won't - as a regular gym-goer, I know that mood far too well 😊
    Wonderful video Jo, it took me a few days to get around to watching it but I'm glad I did - it seems like you're doing well (housing issues notwithstanding) and have a good, dog-heavy daily routine, and I think we can all agree that life isn't so bad as long as there are dogs in it ❤

    I enjoy taking that time to just wind down and get ready for bed. Nice to think over the day as well

    Liquid I.V. is my go to as well. I have both fibromyalgia and POTS, so staying hydrated is CRITICAL to my daily functioning. I drink one first thing, and on most days that does the trick as far as any racing heart, palpitations, lightheadedness from the POTS, and I do feel it helps my overall fatigue as well. On days I’m dealing with a flare, it still takes the edge off some. Good stuff! 😊

    Although it’s neat that you can hop short distances, I can’t help but wonder if doing that repeatedly has any negative effects on you. I know when I sprained my knee pretty severely a few years ago, I found myself doing the same thing because crutches were such a nuisance to fight for such a short distance. I ended up with a lot of hip pain and swelling and that was just a couple months of doing it occasionally 🤦🏻‍♀️😂 a few years later I was diagnosed with bursitis in that hip. I can’t help but wonder if I caused that or if I would’ve had it anyways 🤔

    • @Scott_Burton

      I cant speak to long term, but children hop on one leg often when playing games (or at least when I was young we did) due to multiple leg injuries (foot crushed in a lift, hit by a car, fall on a slick spot on stairs, playing basketball and volleyball in high school and college) I learned to operate with 1 leg quite well, and it wasn't always the same leg, but the lessons learned the first time would just be flipped if it was the other leg the next time, but hopping on one leg is a viable means of movement over relatively short distances. I sure wouldn't want to have to do it for a mile, but from the living room to the kitchen and back isn't that bad. (Unless coming back from the kitchen involves carrying food or drink, which complicates hopping and keeping the carried item(s) from reaching the floor.)

    • @Izzy-cp8yt
      @Izzy-cp8yt ปีที่แล้ว +5

      I've heard in the past that prolonged one leg hopping can cause problems because your leg isn't really built to absorb the full impact of walking/hopping. Short term and with adequate rest in between I doubt it was hurt much, but in Jo's case if she were to hop around her house every, or even most, days, that would be a lot of excess strain on one hip, knee, and ankle and would likely be sore in the short term and cause problems long term.

And I go to the ER and have to explain why I got hit in the head by Jo's fake leg. They all would be laughing so hard. Hey jo I commented this on another video I’m just really scared and need advice. I never expected to relate to your content I followed you because I just thought you were super awesome. I feel that this is the right place to share my story last March I stepped wrong on my foot and got a sprain and a chipped bone I was in a boot for 6 weeks but still was in pain so then I was in a cast for 4 weeks I was still in pain but we blamed it on it being weak and unused so through the summer I tried to keep up with my friends doing summer activities (I’m a teen) and rock climbing with my team ( I am a competitive rock climber) even though I was in a lot of pain I still did everything my friends were doing especially because I was pressured by my mom to so I went back to the check up appointment and I said that I was still in a lot of pain so I got sent for an mri it showed five stress fractures sprained everything tendinitis swollen joints and swollen bones and I had been climbing and walking on them all summer I got put in a cast in august (I even had to be in a cast on my birthday) and then I go out of the cast and put in a boot for long distances but I was supposed to walk at home without the boot and rock climb one footed I did all of that but was still in pain I went back to the doctor and the doctor said it was probably stress fractures that hasn’t healed so I now can’t put any weight on my foot which is really frustrating but my doctor said that I might have chronic pain and it will be a for sure thing if I don’t use the crutches and now im really scared that I will be in this pain forever what is you guys advice? And I also want to hear your stories. So we can all talk about it because sometimes it helps to type it out.

    It would have been funny if at the end of your video conference, someone said "smell you later!" 😘🤣🤣🤣

      Me and my husband always say that to each other. I will say smell you later then he says not if I smell you first. We have to remind ourselves not to do it in front of other people.

    May I plz ask if fibromyalgia is OK with jujitsu?
    I ask as I have been recently diagnosed and want to get into martial arts. I am afraid as it is expensive and I don't want to hurt all the time I'm there. I know the initial sessions will be rough but I adore martial arts and as you are the only other fibro warrior I know. I thought I would ask you! Ignore if you don't want to answer, I understand your need for privacy.
    Thanks! Xx

    IM RBK and have also been trying to get back to my jujitsu class. It hasn't gone well for me. I'm thinking about switching to bjj. Fighting from my knees against a two legger is an interesting challange.

    I'm sure you've answered this somewhere, but I can't find it. What breeds are your dogs? One appears to be a German Shepherd or Shepherd Mix, but I can't figure out the other.

    I loved getting to see your daily routine and your training session! I also see you using gender inclusive language :) if I could offer one friendly suggestion, I’d just point out that female identifying isn’t quite the phrase you wanted there to talk about people who know what it feels like to take off a bra. It’s a tricky linguistic thing to gain fluency with, and there’s no one right way to do it, but I thought I’d offer a constructive note because I very much appreciate your intentions!

    Hello- good day to you, I have followed your channel since your first amputation. A
    I am sure you have addressed this somewhere but I'm going to ask again. How long between your accident that injured your f[t and your amputation? How much pain where you in compared to your pain issues now?
    I am asking as I had an auto accident 11 years ago and I suffer from lots of pain and other issues, with no relief in site and my Doctors are totally against amputation at this time and I am so tired of hurting and missing out on life.
    I know you are not a professional but you are on a similar path so experience helps here. Thanks, Jennifer Martinson

    FootlessJo, they cancelled my amputation surgery. I am so depressed. I am in the UK. Don't know if I will find another surgeon.
    All the doctors were against me. Two of them were not entirely truthful. And of course the surgeon will believe his doctor colleagues, his fellow peas in the pod. Decisions on my life being made by doctors not in my position, who have not gone through what I have gone through, who are not in pain like I am.
    I was feeling so happy at the thought of loosing these feet. Now I feel so depressed.
    They say if you want a job done do it yourself. I just wish there was a way I could, or that somebody could help me do it.

    Weeeell, hitting people in the head with a titanium prosthetic leg DOES sound like a pretty good method to take them down, especially since you can't feel pain in the prosthetic leg itself. 😂😜

    Not gonna lie, I really miss Jo's content that didn't revolve around the amputation.
    I use to be one of the people in the comments getting upset with people for saying this but, it's true.
    I miss her content about her as a person and about other things in her life besides just the amputation.
    And to those people who are going to say, "just don't watch her then", I say that's not the point. I love Jo and I love watching her. I just wish there was a larger variety of content.
