    Nice work, Doris. The water in the transmission is the result of a faulty cooler, inside the radiator. So, the radiator is also scrap metal and needs to be replaced. As previously mentioned, the trans. and engine will both need a rebuild. As far as the intake manifold goes, it's a pretty nice piece. It's a dual-plane hi-rise manifold. That's a good manifold for street performance. The carburetor is also a nice piece, too. It's an Edelbrock 600 CFM street performance carburetor. As far as the water in the engine, pay close attention to the condition of the head gaskets, when you remove the cylinder heads. I suspect one of them is blown. Hopefully, you will film the engine teardown, so we can discover, right along with you. Looking forward to this.

    The transmission cooler lines that run through the radiator have split inside the radiator, thus filling the trans with water. But the engine and trans are junk, and are going to need full rebuilds..

    • @woman.driven
      @woman.driven  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +5

      That makes sense.. I get water in engine if the oil cap was left open without a hood and rain, but couldn't figure out how water would get in the transmission. Both are getting rebuilds, yes.

      @aussie-c10-68 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +5

      @@woman.driven when you put it all back together always run a separate trans cooler in front of the radiator, don’t run it through the radiator at all.

    I love your videos because you are always excited when you work on the cars, it doesn't matter if it goes your way or not, the 350 is like that because is a flat plane crank 5.2L engine which is why 350 can go high RPM and have so unique sound compared to the regular 5.0 Coyote.

    • @jameshuffman835

      @themetalgameralexmontalvo8088 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@jameshuffman835 no the 350 is not a flat plane crank? Does the 350 doesn't go higher in RPM? Does the 350 sound more popier than the 5.0?
      To get the power it wanted out of a naturally-aspirated V8 in the GT350, Ford had to build a different sort of engine. So this engine has a flat-plane crank and revs to 8,250 rpm. That's huge. And it sounds amazing when it screams to redline.

      Timing chain & cam gear last about 100k miles unless the metering hole in the bolt behind the cam gear clogs. Undo the bolt and blow out the oil gallery and clean the metering hole in that bolt. I usually replaced the nylon gear with a solid steel gear; noisier but less likely to strip resulting in all valves getting bent.

    well in all fairness, the reason why that v8 looks small is because its an Overhead valve (OHV) engine, meanwhile the shelby and most modern fords use (single overhead cam)SOHC or (dual overhead cam)DOHC engines which is why -OHC engines look so much bigger compared to their ohv counterparts. Its also a reason why a lot of people end up ls swapping a lot of vehicles as ls engines are ohv so a lot of power in a very small package.

    ...I haven't seen the previous attempts to start it, but the candles show that the basic thing is to check the spark on all cylinders... remove the spark plugs one by one (put them sideways on the metal intake - so they would have mass) and run the starter, checking if there is a spark between the electrodes... it would also be good to do a compression test in the cylinders (i.e. check the condition of the rings and valves after adding 5 mg of oil)... I can see from the video that the cameraman is a guy... because the shots are nice :)

      Not flooded because there are a lot of things on the car that would show that damage and it doesn't. Now, was it in some deep water for some time, just under the door sills, who knows. But others have suggested hood was off while it rained and cooler lines broken which allowed water to get into the transmission.

    my girlfriend and I were driving on the interstate together last month and my engine lost power and stalled out. I just recently discovered the timing skipped a few teeth. I'm also hoping my car can be saved because I'm in no financial position to be buying a new one that's for sure!

    Welp, water in trans is the radiator internal leak, engine probably needs rebuilding, and after you do. You will find out that you have fuel vapor lock, so normally there's a heat plate between the card and intake, but it's better to run another or new fuel line return to the fuel tank. Great job tho, I would definitely let you work on my stuff.😊

      Good to know. I was wondering how water would get in there :). But everything will be reworked and rebuilt. I don't want to use any old stuff that touches the engine or transmission

    Water in engine, water in transmission, rusted out frame members spiders living everywhere, if California car they must of stored it in a river. 😂 also Black Widow Spider love to live inside frame and the dark places in the interior.
    Doris you have your work set out for you. If going to do a complete restoration big budget. Strip every off have dipped fix rusted out spots, replaced front suspension, many aftermarket ones. Drain rear end if Milky rebuild or replace with 9” if 8.8 all new wiring painless or other
    New dash many trick after availability sand, repair sand primer sand straighten primer sealer paint and a thousand more little frustrating things.
    I guess gapping the points didn’t happen. Checking for spark but good try. I just don’t understand if California car when so much rust and water in motor and trans. I have looked at mustang here in California in the middle of fields, weeds over top and looking better then this one. I hope I’m wrong I can not really access from just the video.
    Old school stuff here it’s simpler but for modern car enthusiasts truly frustrating.

      That is pretty much it. I am doing a full restore, not 100% complete, because a lot on the car that would be serious like the body is fine. All the little things I see, I've seen can be replaced, swapped, bought new or restored. The engine is out. Now I am going to remove the interior, then the dash, etc.. A lot of work, but worth getting the knowledge and experience. Plus it would feel good once it is all done.
