Insanity was just icing on the cake. Now, in his place lies the massive construct that he had built, having served as an ironic deathtrap between dimensions with clockwork "protectors" walking its halls.

Not it’s birthplace, just where it got broke. However, I do think it might be the origin of The Old Man. Both appeared during WW2, both involve subterranean caves, both involve alternate dimensions, and both involve corrosive black liquids.

The one "little" point I think you missed is that, once the inventor realizes that he is the monster, he realizes that it was he who had sacrificed his own son to activate the machine and that the rest of his son's involvement with the story after the machine is activated is just a delusion he had to cover for his own guilt at murdering his son. But because of his psychotic break he was interacting with the hallucination of his son, which is what convinced his wife that he was beyond saving. Anybody else have any theories about this?
That SCP was not the Broken God. It was a copy. The Church of the Broken God had all the pieces of bringing their deity, the Broken God, back to functionality, all except the heart, which the foundation had somewhere. So, the Church of the Broken God asked SCP-001, The Factory, to build them a new heart, but instead of reviving their god it created a mechanical monster. The true Broken God has to be revived using its heart, not a replica.

It seems like you cover each one and better detail I can find anywhere else on TH-cam, and nobody else covers as many as you have so far.
I think the mechanical worm is still alive because one of SCP-001's representation is a steel machine devouring everything in it's path. Also this version of 001 is also referring at some point in this lore the "church of the broken god"

Ok a small point to make. It's never made clear if the cultist murdered his son as a sacrifice to the Worm or if his son was dead all along, killed and sacrificed by his father and afterwards existing only as a hallucination. The Inventor was not all there after all, and in his moment of clarity he says that his wife killed their daughter to protect her from him. It's strongly implied that he sacrificed his son to get the machine going and that his wife suspect or knew. Again it's just a few lines and easy to miss or read as his mind unwinding and him speaking in poetic metaphors.

I believe this SCP is related to the Flesh goddess of Sarkicism and the Metal god of the Church of the Broken god. Perhaps someone tried to find a balance between the two, put technology and flesh together in a way that you would have not to give up your humanity, but the experiment failed.
