After pontificating about knowing chords, he misnamed a Dm add9 chord as a Dm9 (yes music nomenclature is obnoxious but they are two completely different chords)
See, if I'd known my theory I could have admonished HP during the video there! Shame on me I guess ;) But that's actually one of the reasons why I find some theory quite intimidating...
Thanks Robert! Hey, if you try them out and the expensive ones happen to be the guitars that speak to you personally... they're the right ones :) Nothing wrong with that at all! Cheers and rock on!
Yep, it's that little bit of extra you get for the made in Japan goodness. Totally worth it if you have the money and appreciate the very finest things!
Thanks for sharing a great video! I'm just wondering. How's the neck profile of the new AZ standard line?? Is it the same as premium and prestige's Oval C?? Ibanez website says 'AZ oval c' for the premium and prestige but just 'AZ' for the new standard.
It's slightly different. The AZ Standard just felt a tiny bit thicker and more rounded to me. I really recommend you try both if you get the chance, though.
15:44 that's what I like about Ibanez and some other brands. The cheap instruments they sell are still good instruments. Unlike some other brands we could name.
Special, like I’ve been called far to many times 😂 Still not seeing the woody (natural) and carbon fiber (unnatural) pair of Pia’s ? Are they still in R&D? Or do i need to talk to Steve again? He’s really busy with tours but I’ll make the call if’n I don’t see anything soon!
Ha ha, they were, erm, just round the corner! Just out of shot ;) Can't hurt if you do have another chat with Steve, though, just to hurry things along a bit.
@ I don’t want rush the luithers but I want those guitars!!! I’ll get ahold of Dr. Dan or or Mr. Hayashi and see what i need to do to expedite production. And I’ll be asking Mr. Vai at our next alien rendezvous.
Glad you guys are at least honest and telling everyone that this model is made in China, NOT Japan. Others guitar channels are being disingenuous by either avoiding the topic altogether or playing marketing Jedi mind tricks by stating the obvious: “Ibanez is a Japanese company”.
Why don't they make the exact same neck sizes with Prestige line and Standard line? Isn't it easy for CNC to cut to the exact measurements for any neck in minutes, or do you think it's on purpose, for instance Premium's have thicker necks, cause it can serve to more people, and most people like thicker necks than super wizard, whereas Prestige RG's have thinner neck, cause less people need very thin neck, and they are usually more advanced players?? What do you think Rich? Nice video! On thomann, they wrote the RG460 has Edge Zero but it has Edge Zero II, so I emailed for correction.
Very interesting thoughts! Yeah, I think Ibanez makes a variety of necks to suit different prices and playing styles (for example, shred/lead players often want a thinner neck with a flatter fingerboard). I don't know if that also has anything to do with budgets... but I'm fairly surely lots of brands save their 'best', most desirable neck profiles for more expensive guitars so people have to pay a little more. For me, as a solid rhythm player, I like a medium C neck just fine - and this is great, because you can find it on many guitars and brands and at almost any pricepoint! Cheers for watching!
Why do lots of bands have two guitar players? Because: one can play the most beautifull chords (and rythms), and the other can play the most beautifull solos (and melodies). This gives an original song the right vibration. As ofcourse do the bass player and the drummer. But somehow we all play an Ibanez.
Yes, exactly... it's all part of the musical atmosphere that makes great music and bands. Being the guitarist in a band with only one guitar it is certainly much trickier to fill the space. But yes... at the end of the day you'll see an Ibanez on most stages ;) They make wonderful guitars and basses, that's why! Cheers and rock on!
I just sold my Ibanez az premium 2020 with gold hardware because I saw this come out …. It will be harder to sell premiums because u can buy this and just put ur own upgrades on it I plan on doing that
Aw, go easy on him guys! He had me there with him and I think that made him become a little fatherly and want to teach me something ;) I'd love to be anywhere his ability as a player, but hey, maybe that's just me ;)
Here we have a matter of knit picking. When and if these models of guitars are recorded in a song with effects in a range of musical styles will you hear it? Will you care? No, because the song sounds good.
Yep, in a mix or live these differences will be way more subtle. And, of course, 99% of the audience won't be listening for those subtitles in the guitar tone. Still, for us as players it can make a difference, and that's why we do it I guess ;) Some bits of gear simply make us have more fun and be more confident as players...
Henning is knowledgeable, talented, and it's nice of him to collab. But his distracted, wandering, weird "jokey uncle" style is counter to what I enjoy your channel for: Thorough reviews that are concise, thoughtful and don't stray far from why the viewer clicked. We want the presenter's personality, but when it feels "about them" I find it off-putting and padded out.
That's a really interesting point. This has never been something that's bothered me personally, but I know it does others. Might be worth me looking into a little more, maybe even doing a video about.
@@RichWordsMusicyou are very straight forward and professional unlike Henning whom I feel is a negative Nelly, know it all and condescending, annoying personality. He is the guy at work who thinks his inappropriate behavior is funny and constantly finds himself in the HR office.
Bernth has played the AZES in concert. It's scale length is longer than Zack Wylde and Slash's guitars, and 0.5" from a Fender Strat. When I play mine I never notice the scale length compared to my other guitars. Probably because it sits in the middle of popular electrics. I think I remember the body having a bit of a "Dinky" effect, but that ain't scale.
AZES is 25”. Standard PRS is also 25”. Les Paul is even shorter at 24.75”. Calling the AZES a short scale is inaccurate. For what it’s worth, AZES Body size is very similar to my S series guitars other than thickness.
Sadly most of them seem not to (although maybe more will come in once the launch is done with). If you look at the Ibanez site where they list all the new ones with pics, there's only a handful of lefties there: www.ibanez.com/eu/news/detail/20241119132341.html

Henning really looked after me here... we just started rolling and he did his thing!
Ibanez favorite colors. Blue, black & roach.
Very informative & more importantly, hilarious 😅👍🏾
Thanks a lot, glad you enjoyed! Having Henning in a video always makes it more fun ;)
Nice comparison of these Ibanez guitars! Unfortunately I always chose the expensive ones.... but it is the right decision.

Agree on the trem… If I get this, I will deck the bridge and store the trem arm in the bag. 😎
That'll be my plan too. I don't need a trem anyway and I love the guitar without it!
So, how do these AZ Standard compare to a Harley Benton Fusion 3? Similar specs but the HBs are cheaper.
what is the nut material? Ibanez website doesn't say anything so I assume it's plastic (???)
Right, the nut could be hardened bubble gum for all we know 😂
Great video! How are the neck thicknesses compare between the different models?
hahaha subscribed! loved the interaction and ... man !!! you have nerves of stainless steel because who wants a steel that stain etc etc
Ha ha, thanks a lot! Welcome to the channel :)

They're listed as actual flame maple tops. I enjoy y'all but if you're incorrect about the veneer that's a pretty major bit of misinformation.
Eric Clapton spent half of the Cream reunion concerts on the middle pick-up.

The size of the trem block doesn’t add sustain not according to material science or acoustics.
With this guitar I think most people will be blocking it off anyway. That's another topic where I have limited knowledge and should look into it more!

The issue with the Essentials series isn’t that it is beginner it’s that it is a short scale for kids and this is why adult musicians shy away.
