Hi Sharin, I noticed whilst you were driving, sometimes your hand‘s distance becomes very close. This impedes manoeuvrability. Keeping the hands at the 10 o’clock and 2 o’clock position is best. When turning right, release your right hand from the steering wheel, and use your left hand to manoeuvre the steering, and move towards the 2 o’clock direction. If the turning circle needs to be tighter, navigate your right hand towards the 10 o’clock position, grab the steering, release your left hand, and manoeuvre your right hand towards the 2 o’clock position. When turning left, the hand actions are mirrored. Give this a try and you’ll find turning much easier and natural.
check map / GPS before you go > signal > shoulder check > proceed with caution + more road experience. Start from less traffic to downtown. From my driving experience
I'm a HKer born and raised in UK (Do i still count as a HKer? probably not lol), Discrimination and racist comments are worst in the 80s and 90s as i was growing up. it has become less and less nowadays. But its still happens, mostly from young teenages/adults that are from low income families. All of us growing up in UK have gotten used to it and just ignore it. No need to be upset from these silly people.
I agree that sometimes people overplayed the whole racisim thing. Sometimes people could be just being oversensitive. Or it could also be something to deter people from leaving?

We as HK'ers should do our part to be good citizens. We should respect local culture and their way of life. We might still experience some level of discrimination at times and that is to be expected. This is not a perfect world and there are always good/bad people everywhere.
I visited UK once for a week. I didn't feel UK people were discrimating me as Asian, but comparing to visitng Paris was very different. People were very mean and disrespectful for a couple of times even I was only a tourist. I guess maybe just French culture and UK culture is very differnt? Yes, UK feels much like living in US. Very postive!
Sharin, what is the problem of your driving? I agree with your instructor. You are doing fine. But .... just need more practice. Getting familiar with controlling - steering, signal light, gear control, gas pedal, brake pedal, etc. After that, you will be able to concentrate outside environment more - road condition. That's it. That is normal you are nervous and fear behind the wheel. Just need more practice. Setting a target - like you drive every time when you folks go to grocery shopping.
