Wooden meditating Buddha statue intricately hand carved by traditional artisan

This serene figurine of Lord Buddha is made of dark brown “Siris”wood ( Albizia lebbeck) and fully hand carved without using any machine ,only using chisel and the mallet. The craftsman has an inborn talent to carve the exact figurine without any sketch, lines or model.
This meticulously hand carved wooden shows statue shows Lord Buddha in sitting pose engrossed in deep meditation. Lord Buddha is the very essence of peace and harmony .This statue personifies that.
The body of the statue is already carved. This video shows how the head of the statue is carved with great patience. It’s amazing to see how the craftsman engrave all the noble qualities and authentic features of Lord Buddha in a solid wood. The eyes and face depicts the kindness and serenity of Lord Buddha which exhibit excellent craftsmanship.
The craftsman is talented enough to carve the head accurately proportionate to the body size. Carving a Buddha statue is done with utmost devotion and respect.The artisans never keep the statue on the floor while carving.Statue is always kept in a higher position even while in the carving process.
Buddha statue triggers and reminds one of his or her vows to preserve his or her spiritual as well as meditation practice. At the same time, Buddha statues purify the mind, build up the serenity within oneself and motivates to overcome the negative emotions of fear, greed, jealousy and hatred, hence uplifting the mind and focusing the attention on the reality of the materialistic world.

Hi, I'm super impressed with your work! If I can ask a question, how do I figure out what kind of wood my buddha is made of? It's old, and starting to develop cracks but I want to keep him in good condition. Any advice is greatly appreciated! Keep up your wonderful art !
