    LYRICS:
I wish I’d heard them Aspen Trees sing
Back when my Grandpa was young
He said there were more Gold Eagles here
    Than people two to one
They came and made the wild tame
Won the west, but lost the range
Its as plain as day to see that change has finally come
Now the Indian Paintbrush is in bloom again
The prairie’s burning up in red and green
It breaks my heart to think that my son might not ever get to see
The Indian Paintbrush come in bloom again
Then the Indian Paintbrush paints me blue again
Now the sun is sinking down on what’s left of the western front
What used to seem so sacred now don’t matter all that much
The train tracks cut a trail of scars
They bring near what should stay far away
Yeah there somethings you and me weren’t made to touch
Like the Indian Paintbrush that’s in bloom again
The prairie’s burning up in red and green
It breaks my heart to think that my son might not ever get to see
The Indian Paintbrush come in bloom again
Then the Indian Paintbrush paints me blue again
A native son of Wyoming, Ian Munsick is painting a stampeding, spirited portrait of the American West with his sophomore album White Buffalo, out now. The 18-track album spans unfiltered tales of romance and ranch life, hard-working anthems with honkytonk hooks and mountain-time odes to family and forever-young fun. It builds upon the spacious roots-pop beauty he introduced on his major label debut, Coyote Cry. Over the past three years, the 29-year-old has accumulated nearly 400 MILLION global streams and a host of accolades. He has been named an “Artist to Watch” by Spotify, CMT, Fender, MusicRow and more. A seasoned entertainer, having grown up tending cattle by day and playing music in a family band each night, Munsick toured recently alongside country music superstars Morgan Wallen and Cody Johnson. Beyond his noteworthy professional accomplishments, he has also become both a husband and a father. Now the Warner Music Nashville recording artist and multi-instrumentalist is representing his home, and its special cast of people, like never before. The first release from White Buffalo, standout duet “Long Live Cowgirls” (with Cody Johnson), hit No. 1 on SiriusXM’s The Highway Hot 30 Countdown and was named one of Amazon Music’s Best Country Songs of 2022. Fans of Ian Munsick will always find an open heart, natural awe and plainspoken honesty as he rides on… bringing the West to the rest.

I'm left in tears each time I listen to this song and I know it's partially the lyrics but it's mostly the flute. I can hear it throughout the entire song and it speaks to my soul in a way I may never fully understand, but as I become older it becomes more apparent that I'm connected to the Native Americans in a way most people likely aren't. You can play hot cross buns on a flute and it makes no difference. But as soon as you play it in a way well known to the Natives, it hits me. Well done to everybody responsible for this song.

Listening to this for the umpteenth time and realizing it reminds me of the song "edelweiss"
An ode to a beloved land and the flower that represents it.

Ian…THANK YOU for this song! Anyone that has not been born and raised in Wyoming, will never understand the value of the people/land.
