@@Rishi-hv4qpit's not the main reason, it was stated if you use a different breathing style which is not meant for you your sword won't be able to do it due to imperfections. That's why almost every time tanjiro use water breathing his sword broke .

@@erssey6168 Muichiro's swordsman made him a couple of swords and he went onto not upper moons and same with tanjiro and inosuke ,having a sword from begining to the end is a realisation of a very great swordsman you can't say that this isn't a good sword even so he encountered the weakest moons only he get out with that sword not like tokito with his random missions or tanjiro with his lower moon

Swords break due to user mostly not due to craftsman. A sword breaks due to less control over your breathing. When tanjiro masters his breathing he will also not break his sword

It’s cuz he mastered his breathing technique to the max. Same reason why the hashiras blades dont break. Only difference with hashiras is that he one-shots enemies so his blade wont dull easily either

Difference is the kind of difference in demons they fought..undoubtedly Tanjiro is kind of main cast and Zenitsu is kind of supporting character, however, its the technique of Zenitsu and soundtracks during his fights that makes him a OP character

Thunder breathing itself is an underrated breathing technique

zenitsus sowrds lightning pattern is not because of his skills but because of how he has no control over his skills when hes awake. since he picked his sword when awake it failed to turn yellow completely leaving with with partial lightning pattern.
Hashira training arc was cool and I like that the animators add good scenes. What I woulda loved to see would be tanjiro doing the hikame kaygura dance.
Zenitsu’s sword never broke because he perfected thunder breathing 1st form. Tanjiro’s sword broke constantly because he was using water breathing which he hadn’t mastered properly.
Part of it too is that his technique, thunder clap and flash, is based on the real life technique aido (I may have spelled that wrong) where the user draws their sword, makes a very fast slash and then re-sheaths the sword all in one fluid motion
Erm no, iaido doesnt actually resheathe the sword. Its just for the cool factor. Zenitsu whole move set is based on the drawing technique or “battojutsu”. I myself is a trainee, we don’t resheathe the sword like that or rather its impossible.

I think it's mostly because his way of fighting revolves around killing most things in 1-3 strikes while not only Tanjiros and Insoukes breathing styles revolve around multiattacks but also the fact that they slash more than using breathing attacks

Inusuke sword is pretty good to, he just chips it on purpose, even tho its his style of sword, because of the chips he make, its genrally just becomes weak and more vulnerable to breaking or getting dmg
A few reasons though zenitsu has mastered his form to the absolute point so unlike tanjiro who was useing a breathing form unfit for him and inosuke who gets a pass cause he created his own type and damages them as soon as he gets them with rocks to get his chipped effect, also zenitsu typically one shots his opponents with the exception being his fight with daki where he was mainly dodging but occasionally deflected her belt

What people don’t realise is we have on seen zenitsu fight demons that have relatively soft neck , like that spider or that house demon, even in entertainment district arc he fought daki not gyutaro directly, daki was cloth. on top if that zenitsu relies on speed not swing ,when you are that fast you let surface area do it’s job while tanjiro relies on swing and muscle power.
Btw guys can someone tell me why the hand guard of yoriichis sword was a different shape when they found it in season 3 rather than the normal shape in the Sengoku era.

Many compared him with Tanjiro but if we were to see it from a bigger picture, Zenitsu is the only non Hashira Demon Slayer who soloed an upper moon and whose speed was praised as one of the fastest even to a strong uppermoon. Even Muzan didn't see that coming.
The pattern is not embedded in the sword by the swordsmith though... It's the coloring that he himself achieved, like when Tanjiro wielded his blade for the first time

Tanjiro’s blade was the same as Zenitsu, but the sun dance was so powerful that the blade couldnt support it , so thats the reason why it broke constantly
The fact is, Zenitsu rarely uses his nichirin to protect himself in battle, if he's in danger, he just simply dodge it with his fast movements, then he always makes an effective attack on the enemy, so his nichirin gets less battlestress or damage.

I think one of the reason why tanjiro always breaking his sword is the breathing style he use, the sword never went along with his Breathing Technique and true potential. Unless he use the sun breathing from the get go.

The thunder pattern in the sword is carved and it was gray when no one held it, but then zenithsu wield it and the pattern turn yellow from grey, and also tanjiro's new sword still isn't the best. Because after muzan dies, he sword was half break when he was sitting in the ground.

zenitsu even land a few slashes to muzan body on the final battle but never broke or chip his katana...and muzan skin is harder than even upper moon...zenitsu katana never reach red color too like tanjiro and the other hashira...so his technique and katana are really special and hes the right person to use it
Not sure if the lightning pattern is something designed by a swordsmith. Considering that most Nichirin have no color and gain it from user, it's doubtful swordsmiths would ever bother with the blade design. Most likely, the pattern was created once Zenitsu took his sword, and it gained a color.
I think the other reason why zenitsu never broke his own sword is because of his breathing techniques, zenitsu is more focused on speed rather than power unlike inosuke's beast breathing and tanjiro's sun breathing.

It doesn't break because he only ever has to cut with it. I think the only ever time he crossed blades with someone actually was in the Infinity Castle. If you know you know.
