So this thing is so sharp that it cuts through dimensions, in fact it is a powerful weapon, but very difficult to handle in a practical way since any involuntary movement causes it to cut through another dimension, causing its blade to disappear into the "physical plane". I think the only way this thing could be minimally usable is if it had a sheath that could contain its blade.
This gave me the idea of a cool scp concept: A hilt of a sword that has the blade somewhere detatched in the world and when you pick up the hilt the blade starts doing the same motion with the hilt, as if it were attatched but its still like all the way across the world

I'm having a good laugh. I remember when I played D&D as a kid (40+ years ago), one of the modules had a "sword of the plains". It was a 2 dimensional sword, it had no thickness, so it could cut through anything. pretty cool.
The crossguard is shaped the wrong way and will not catch a blade. It will redirect a strike to the crossguard to the torso injuring the weilder. A crossguard with its far ends toward the point of the blade will redirect the enemy weapon into yours, often trapping it, in this case destroying it.
I'm guessing the purpose of the guard is not to redirect a strike - any strike hitting the blade will simply cut through the opposing sword anyway - but rather to make sure the wielder's hands do not slip forward and contact the blade.
