A beautiful 8-game pro set. Hard to imagine such smooth, fast, and silent footwork as this. Reminds me of the Federer ballet work. And having trajectory mapping gps guidance to intercept and return the icbm to sender, from low altitude, is outrageous. The shoulders have to get involved on those high balls. A big returner gets into the craw of the big server, and causes them to question their ability to get the ball past. And doubt had to creep into Clay. The defensive returns became decidedly offensive. Karue is a great returner, but I give a slight edge in agility to Govind. I’m guessing he’s comparable in size to Nishioka by the look of things. Strangely, he can put that in the “advantage” category. Diego Schw managed his height well, but had a stocky build. This guy has neither the height nor the big build. But he moves like a cat, and makes the game look effortless.

And he's using the simplest motion. I mean, reading the serve and getting there is very high level, but he's hitting the most compact returns, with the most level hitting path, I've seen on this channel. Like Agassi. Man, it takes a long time for players to figure out a lot of their problems is simply trying to be too fancy and "advanced."

??? Football basketball and baseball will never be matched in college. You have to understand tennis is mostly a specialty game / sport. It’s not even close to that level. And modern tennis in the US is almost gone. The 80’s and 90’s they defined tennis. But it’s just not there anymore. Many reasons. If you watch a D1 tennis match there is no one in the audience. Tennis is being kept afloat by the amateur circuit, the 2.0 to the 5.5 levels keep it going. And you tube has helped them immensely.

People who don't reach a certain leveling of hitting in tennis don't get to enjoy watching tennis that way. I love the way Govind came in and hit the ball on the rise returning Clay’s serve. A lot of players will just go further back to deal with that kind of banger. You can use the pace against the big sever AND it sends a signal that you aren’t intimidated by their best weapon. I modeled that kind of return by watching Edberg attack big serves with his return.

I like your respect on the players ✌️ I'm going to be more open about it... I don't think there is a way Hermond could beat Karue if Karue is playing at a ... 75% or more. Hermond is great, was undefeated at the channel for a while, but the levels are just different. I haven't watched the other guy (Hoffman) but him playing college now and with his UTR where it is, that would be a match. I feel Hermond could beat Karue if Karue hasn't played since his last tournament at OSU, or if his preseason right now is body conditioning related and little to no tennis.
Having said that, there has to be a Karue and Govind match (or more than one!!) in this channel, whether at this tournament final or just because. Level would be insane. I think Govind today has the slightly fresher game (well, Karue overall can serve his spots pretty well, so sligh edge on serve for him, but with Govind's returns?😅). But Karue has the experience... that match would be 🔥; I would watch a best of 3, heck,I would watch a best of 5 and unedited!! Thanks Winston!!

Clay has been out of competition and serious training for like 3 years. There are levels to tennis that are not always apparent. No disrespect to Govind but it would look very different if he was playing a top100 player, and Govind/Karue are the closest to top100 out of everyone whos been on the channel. Insane level of tennis. Probably the best video of this channel so far. If Govind can maintain this level he should have a big advantage against Karue.

Aside from Govinds amazing returns, what’s also hard to see is that his rally ball is actually a bit heavier (speed + spin) than what Clay can comfortably handle at the moment. There is a sense through the set that Clay is working a little bit harder to win points off the rally than Govind even though he has more aggressive positioning especially off his serve. Despite this Govind is able to rattle off more than a few winners easily from different positions. Having to expend more energy to just hit the shot adds up by the end leading to multiple breaks by Govind. I’m sure if Clay was in touring shape, the match would be more competitive. It’s great to see how different levels of tennis interact in game! From the outside, their rally balls look the same but have different effects on each player which can clue you in to how they feel to play against.

Was rooting for Clay, but man, Govind`s return and overall game is top notch. It seemed to me there were very few rallies, and both guys were going for bigger shots from the get go. Thanks to both players adn to Winston for putting this awesome match together. Hope to see both of these guys again on the channel.

Hey Winston, i had a question for Clay and im curious if you had discussed it at all with him or know the answer.
How did Clay decide to play with the Technifiber Triax string? I rarely ever hear about pro or elite level tennis players using multifilament strings. Did Clay have some elbow problems that caused him to switch over to playing with a multifilament?
With tje way he hits the ball, I'm shocked he doesnt break the Triax string within 1 hour of hitting.
Also id expect him to more spin and control with Poly? Curious to hear your thoughts on it.

This was a great match, but at this level you need line judges, because it would allow the players to play the game without trying to call close lines in the middle of the match. Both guys are honest but the ball just moves to fast to be accurate on every single call. Great match and both guys should be happy with their performance. Happy Holidays to everyone and thank you for posting this match.

  • @Sweeney-Kubach

The only thing I would suggest to you Winston is that in my opinion you need line judges, because these guys just hit to big to be able to play and call lines, I think that the matches would be better for the players to just play the match and not have to worry about calling lines. Both guys are good and honest people, but the ball is just moving so fast it’s tough to play at a high level and call lines. Just something I noticed that might help the players be more comfortable on the court. Great work on the video and your channel my friend.
