I've had 2 Rolex watches and a Panerai. Sold them and got this (as well as some serious cash in the bank) I honestly prefer this and wear it daily. The quality, price, looks and feel of the watch are superb, love it!
I have two rolexs, I bought two more, now I also bought this one, because I don't want to wear my original double red sd, and I have serious money in my account
Steinhart is a lot of watch for the money and well made but its ultimately a homage. Steinhardt is not spending over $ 30-60 million annually on advertising/endorsements, 100's of millions over the years (billion ?)to get the "brand equity" of Rolex that exists today..it affects collectibility and desirability and "total emotional experience" most watch buyers seek irregardless of objective value. Steinhart could even make a better spec and finished watch but it wouldn't matter...the homage could be $500 or 500,000, it still would be a homage and unrecognized by the majority besides WIS circles, which is a miniscule %of the target market. The buyer for Rolex and Steinhart have different set of priorities which is why Rolex can and has to sell it for that price, as buyers are looking for "status and image" vs affordability/good objective value additionally, over the long run, some rolexes cost much less as you often get 2-10× more than original price while the other depreciates
Chin Yoon, I’m an inveterate watch enthusiast. I’ve been at this for years, so I already know every point you’ve commented on. You’re preaching to the choir. The advertising is tantamount to brainwashing. They pay for advertising to make people want the watch; they succeed; then people pay them for making them want the watch. And they’ve been doing it for forever and a day. Please, don’t get me wrong; I know that Rolex makes fabulous watches with exemplary engineering and that they last forever and a day, even without being serviced. They’re amazing. But the cost of the watch is the cost of the watch, so you’re not really paying less. I bought a Seiko SARB035 brand new for $332 in 2016. I really paid less. I wear it every day with everything. And I feel compelled to gaze at it several times every day. It’s gorgeous. To me, that’s value for my money. Yes, appreciation is a factor, but it’s gotten out of control. The sale of the “Paul Newman Daytona” is an example. The prices of Daytona’s skyrocketed after that sale, right? And why? Paul Newman wore the watch. Yadda yadda yadda. So there’s this whole cult that people have built up around it because of that. Again, please, don’t get me wrong. Daytona’s are brilliantly engineered, even to the point of making them easy to service, but prices have just gone out of control. It’s tantamount to buying a house in Palo Alto nowadays, relatively speaking. And the whole thing feeds on itself. It’s sickening. I doubt that even Mr. Newman would approve, knowing that he was not a materialistic man. But this point is moot, since he’s passed on now, and we’ll never hear him comment on this subject. Now, having made the above statements, I will say that I would never buy the Steinhart. If I were going to buy that type of watch, it would probably be a Tudor BB 36, as I don’t need a divers’ bezel. Why? Because I like the way Rolex engineers their watches, and $3,000 is not too bad. Not only that, but also, having the 2824 movement would give me lots of latitude on whom to have service the watch.
@@cy4624 lol and still EVERY TIME I see a Rolex I wonder if it’s real, and so do you, don’t lie! My Steinhart says Steinhart on it , so no question as to what it is, My Steinhart is a homage to a Rolex that had very limited production of only 1,100 or 1,200 pieces made and they are worth over $100,000 I wouldn’t own a fake , but if it doesn’t say Rolex on it then it’s not a fake.
Fantastic looking watch. You simply cannot beat it for the price. Steinhart really make excellent quality Swiss Watches. I look forward to having the Vintage Red in my collection. Thank you for posting this great video.
Love steinhart brand such a bang for your buck it’s unbelievable what you get for the price... I own an Ocean One 39 and love the size the 2824-2 keeps excellent time and the bracelet is really good. The only thing I am not crazy about is the faded number markings on the ceramic bezel hard to pick up at times.
Great watch. Mine arrived a few weeks ago and it’s been on my wrist almost every day since - straight in as one of my favourites in my collection! Great accuracy right out of the box, excellent build-quality and one of the best bang for your buck watches out there! (Oh, and it looks awesome too! 😉)

Maybe consider cutting the Techno Music a little shorter at the end? I watch videos late at night whilst the house is asleep. And then the house turns into Night at the Roxbury. lol It happens on a lot of video's or channels. The Vocals are low so we turn up volume and then Club night kicks in blaring.
Thanks, Timothy, but I would go further: would you please entirely eliminate the obnoxious techno-dance music? It is just purely grating, and seems entirely inappropriate for a watch collecting/reviewing channel. I haven't seen any Just Watch videos before now, and very nearly terminated this one within 10 seconds of starting it. Fortunately, the review of the Steinhart was quite useful.
I just bought a Ocean One in Bronze case (green). It comes with canvas strap and also I bought a "NATO style" leather strap (from Steinhart with bronze ends). Really Amazing built! (BTW, service it's absolutely stunning. I received the watch 48 hrs after of I bought it!)

Steinhart makes terrific watches for an honest price. I own three including this red dial and new Kermit; excellent build quality, accuracy, fit and finish etc. I understand the Rolex buyer is looking for something more, but having tried those watches on and handled them, I couldn't justify the spend for one, much less having multiple styles. Question / just got one used ... the bezel is extremely hard to turn / and the crown also hard to turn and hear the movement spin when screwing back.. is this normal or defective ?
Had mine for three months. Like it quite a bit. What you get for €420 is a very strong package. It's funny. There are many videos on Steinharts. There's one that even opens the casing - no big surprise there - but, can someone talk about the waterproofing? The inside rubber ring on the case is obvious, but what about the crown stem? The Rolex Sub crown stem has three instances of waterproofing, i.e. three rubber seals. One around the case thread; one inside the screw thread; and the last one inside the crown itself. You can bet all these three gives a good seal to the watch. I have a Steinhart Triton 30 ATM and wonders about similar waterproofing strategies around the crown and stem. Can someone advise? Has anybody removed the stem to check??? TQ in advance. ;-)
My watchmaker calibrated my Ocean One to within a second a day, he told me he was very impressed with the quality of the watch and case, he did grease the ring in the back and had a look at the crown, he said there was a couple of o gaskets in there but he didn’t want to mess with them. They are tested at the factory to 300 meters with the pressure tester. The reality is that you will never have an issue with waterproofing if you’re sport diving, since you will never dive deeper than 50 meters anyway, but it’s good to know they are tested to 300.
Agree with the 50m. I guess it is no different from an AAA-grade Rolex Sub replica that I took apart to look at. No rubber ring seals ala Rolex original Submariner... But at least the inside end of the crown was rubberised (washer?) so there's a seal when the crown is screwed gown and not just metal to metal. I removed the movement to water test and there casing and it held out well. (Just a "no bubbles" test). I have a Triton Steinhart that's rated 300m. Solid casing and screw down but waterproofing was similar to the replica. It validates my belief that for a watch to be waterproof, it has to have a screw down back as well as screw down crown.
Buck Rogers actually, there's at least two gaskets on the crown, one inside the crown itself and one on the shaft. I'd say you'd get at least 200 metres from that. They're pressure tested at the factory to 300 metres. The good fake Rolex's are more like 30 to 50 metres, and I would never wear them swimming.
Buck Rogers in fact, there's a video here somewhere on TH-cam where a guy has been wearing his Ocean One for lots of SCUBA diving and hasn't had any issues at all with waterproofing.
Jewels in a mechanical watch are synthetic rubies that are used to minimize friction inside the movement. "XX jewels" simply means that in this particular movement there are XX number of rubies built into the "bearings" of the movement. Less friction means a more regular motion of cogs/wheels/etc and thus more accuracy and greater power-reserve. When you look at a watch movement, some of the jewels are usually visible - they look like little red/pink, translucent discs. Do a google picture search for "ETA 2824" or "Incabloc".
I just got my GMT Coke 42 on a Jubilee. May.8,2019. I only have one probem with it................................... I CAN'T TAKE IT OFF. Jajajajajajajajajajaja jajajajajajajajajajaja
I am not sure why Steinhart gets a pass on making obvious Rolex copies. I could never pull the trigger on one of these, almost did it twice just couldn't do it. But it does let you know that a high quality watch can be made for less than $1000.
I give passes to replicas of the Mil-sub with artificially aged (the caramel colored) lume markers only because it's impossible for 99.9% of watch collectors to get their hands on a real mil-sub.
Hey gjs67, remember that Roles "borrowed" the design of the sub. It all started with the Blancpain 50 Fathoms. Many people like the look, but do not like the price. ie, Bugatti.
Just Watch thank you very much!!! I discovered these watches just a few days ago and I fell in love... Seiko sarb033 on my list too.... arrggggh can’t decide
A watch that is a direct copy cannot ever be considered 'best'. Specs wise it's great, ticks all boxes, but has no originality. For this reason I can't agree.
Last time i saw an Original Sea Dweller Double Red for sale it was 38.880 Euros. For a watch that is about 50 years old, and probably not in condition for daily use. Can you agree to that?

Solid casing and screw down but waterproofing was similar to the replica. It validates my belief that for a watch to be waterproof, it has to have a screw down back as well as screw down crown.
And waterproof watches needs to be maintained. Amounting to simply silicon oiling the gaskets once every year perhaps.
What does the 24 jewel mean
Jewels in a mechanical watch are synthetic rubies that are used to minimize friction inside the movement. "XX jewels" simply means that in this particular movement there are XX number of rubies built into the "bearings" of the movement. Less friction means a more regular motion of cogs/wheels/etc and thus more accuracy and greater power-reserve. When you look at a watch movement, some of the jewels are usually visible - they look like little red/pink, translucent discs. Do a google picture search for "ETA 2824" or "Incabloc".
@@1SaG thankyou for the reply
I just got my GMT Coke 42 on a Jubilee. May.8,2019. I only have one probem with it................................... I CAN'T TAKE IT OFF. Jajajajajajajajajajaja jajajajajajajajajajaja
Very nice l will call you and order one
I am not sure why Steinhart gets a pass on making obvious Rolex copies. I could never pull the trigger on one of these, almost did it twice just couldn't do it. But it does let you know that a high quality watch can be made for less than $1000.
Because every low price diver watch looks extremely similar.
Pull the trigger......who makes up these irritating phrases? What's wrong with saying "buying one"?
Enjoy being irritated. Nobody cares...
That’s the version 3 right?
Yes! Purchased in late December 2017.
Just Watch that’s what there’s now oh their website right? Black dial 18-22 bracelet? Thank you very much!
Should be, yes. The dial on the newer ones isn't as faded as they used to be.
Just Watch thank you very much!!! I discovered these watches just a few days ago and I fell in love... Seiko sarb033 on my list too.... arrggggh can’t decide
superfede92 Do both! That's what I did!
The first batch of this watch had normal greenish lume, not this old radium stuff. It looks much better...
FYI, they're not push pins, they're screws.
Should not change the date between 9pm and 3am,as it damages the watch, and it also applies to most automatic watches 🙊🙈🙈🤪
👍
Bosnian Bill?? Is that you?
nice homage
2022 the price is now by 420 euros
Paid more than I wanted but hard to find, paid $700
When you look at this watch you have to wonder what you are paying for in a Rolex....advertising, sponsorships, caché..and bloated MV.
Copy? It's a model which Rolex doesn't use for long time ago.
ripp offs for cheapskates
