I've had a 2014 Hilux 3.0 auto SR+ AT37 and driven a 2016 Isuzu D-Max auto AT35, the first thing you notice is a total lack! of refinement from the D-Max, it may be a solid piece of kit, but compared to the Hilux, it feels soooooo cheap inside, with its flimpsy plastic, aftermarket radio set-up, (I think its either, Kenwood/Pioneer/Alpine) the seats, noisy engine, road noise. It is a bit faster than the Hilux though, and a more modern auto, with 6 speed, vs 5 speed in the 2014 Hilux, but otherwise, the Hilux is leagues above in every department.
in North America, trucks are massive. For example, a Dodge 1 ton truck has a 6.7 litre diesel putting out 385 H.P. and 900 pounds of torque. The other companies are right up there. I have never been to England, but I guess full size trucks wouldn't have a market there.
Inside Lane I seen pictures of London where some of the older sections still have what looks like cobblestone streets. So I can see where a long and wide vehicle would be hard to navigate. In Canada, we don't get the Isuzu vehicles anymore. I bought a new 1988 Isuzu Spacecab with the 2.6 litre 4 cylinder gas engine and automatic transmission. It handled as good as any car. It was the best vehicle I ever owned.
same as in Australia. roads are not suited for massive cars. there are few Raptors, Tundras, Rams and i think 1 F650 (which keeps getting sold to a new person like every month) running around in Sydney. and then theres issues with parking them. no chance
in Australia you can buy a fully optioned dmax for about 45k and but Dodge rams, F trucks, GMC and Chevrolet start at about 135k, they would be popular in country areas if the price was a lot lower, the government taxes the hell out of them, that is why they are so expensive.
The trucks run up to $55,000 for the most luxurious model. Do they also add the price of converted the truck over to a right hand drive. That must cost a lot also. Off the topic, my sister-in-law comes from a farm west of Bathurst, New South Wales. I probably spelled the town wrong. It is near another place called Orange.
400NM not 400 lb-ft, 400NM is only 295 lb-ft. This really isn't that much torque compared to other 4x4s around the world, a HiLux has 369 ft-lbs, a Wrangler 4xe has 470 LB-FT.
The reliability issues for LR were enough for me to look elsewhere for an off-roader and I think this is it. Even in the standard, non-Arctic configuration it's an amazingly accomplished vehicle. The last thing that remains for Isuzu to do is give this an auto-gear box with 7+ gears to make use of the incredible torque from the engine at highway cruising speeds...
lapamful oh god no, the whole point in these vehicles is to be simple and rugged, when you start adding crap like big,heavy, expensive triptronic gearboxes it ruins the point, if you want a highway gear get a high set overdrive ratio on your 5th or 6th gear
@@BluTrollPro I clocked my isuzu dmax near 4 lakh kilometers ,Still running strong But interiors are cheap plastic , expecting premium interiors otherwise no complaints. Maintenance is so cheap when compared to other pickup trucks . Now getting a new d max and will modify it to look and perform like new AT35 stealth edition.

Although in the Indian market (I am assuming since you say lakh?) you guys get the likes of the Force Gurkha & Mahindra Thar. I wish they would export these, simple trucks is what many in the European market want, but all companies are selling is overcomplicated, over expensive leasure vehicles.
That's true but if u remapped the engine it would overcome a little of the problem. That is if the clutch can handle it! I have a mate that remapped his and it made a world of difference to his dmax.
Michael Taffe Here in the Philippines, Isuzu Dmax is one of the most tiniest truck compared to Ford Ranger and Toyota Hilux. However, it has been ranked as the most powerful truck in the Philippines this 2017.
Michael Taffe you’ve not seen a Suzuki Jimny then auld bean. It is both super small but super fun. Especially in snow. However it is so slow. Embarrassingly slow, great in snow though. Did I say that already?
I have had 5 Toyota hilux surf's. The 3.0 turbo intercooled SSRG I have would pull the Isuzu backwards and is unbreakable. Pity they don't make them anymore but there are a few at £5k on ebay with 100k on th clock - just run in

Toughest truck on the market, no gimmicks just a durable tank.

Our roads are quite narrow in comparison to the US. Even this truck was pushed for space at times.

Do they sell a similar kit separately? Example I have a D-max and just want the artic fender flares.

the isuzu isnt really suited for this kind of conversion since you cant re-gear the diffs on it, which ruins low gearing with 33"+ tire sizes.
