      You did what you had to do, which is commendable. Still, I think no one should ever have to be in that dire situation. I wish no one had to endure poverty. Financial solidarity should exist and society should provide a safety net. No one should have to worry about securing the next meal for their children.

    I'm from Birmingham Alabama and actually went to the same high school as Roy. I listened to him on the radio on the car rides to that school. I later had to come home from college because I was failing and not motivated at all.. I went to work at Labor Ready. I worked harder than anyone there and earned full time employment with a company. Fast forward about 18 to 20 yrs and I'm doing pretty well in the work force, bought land, had a family, but now getting thru a rough divorce where I'm having to start all over. This reminded me of my journey and that gives me some hope and peace in this stressful time 🙏🏽.. I can do it again 💪🏾.. I really appreciate this story.

    And somehow, the funnyman finds a way to make the audience laugh through his pain. Roy’s one of the best comedians in the past 20 years. Comedy comes from those strong enough to find the humor in pain, and this man has made me laugh my ass off while also teaching me lessons that haven’t left my head since. The importance of being nice to people, for example. His delivery is unmatched. He’s worked his ass off to be where he is and there are very few that deserve to reach that level. I’m going to see him live someday, that’s on my bucket list.

    As a gig worker, listening to things like this help me feel less crazy.....months ago I was half way to ATL from DC and they canned me. I had already moved all my regular work around and feel down
    But that bounce back...worth it.

    I love this one a lot; it's like he and the audience got super confortable with each other, and at one point after the Henry joke he slowly let himself go and just had a chat with a friend.
    It is very comforting.

    I love the ending of that. Rather than offering the uplifting payoff that comes with falling action, RWjr stops right after he makes his point, so to spare you from going through the motions the listeners could easily piece together themselves, but at the cost of distraction from the message.

    • @FAILURELAB
      @FAILURELAB  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks! You nailed it! All of our stories leave off the ending so that viewers can take away what it means to them. We like to invite the audience into the story instead of lecturing at them. Glad you liked it.
