@leoraj0101 I'm actually in this performance and because the piece is so rhythmically challenging we first learned the entire thing on a neutral syllable, i think it was "Da." And then after we had gotten that, our choir professor, who had learned all of the proper pronunciations before choosing the song for our concert, went over it with us word by word and we just did a section at a time. And we all practiced until we had it down. And thanks a lot! we worked really hard!

Actually this is difficult tl for indians too cos there are a lot of languages in india..and this is from tamil nadu where tamil is spoken..I come from the neighbouring state of kerala where malayalam is spoken which is related to tamil than other indian languages but even then I have to practise it to get it right and I dono meaning of most words

not some random tongue twister written for the purpose of twisting tounge.

:) very nice performance .... amongst all the uploads of this song being performed by various artists this is simply the most convincing. Whats really nice to notice is the enthusiasm and joy that the performers imbue. A reverberating song indeed !! Cud do with a little more pace.
Never fails to bring a smile....no one has a clue what is being sung including them...but in the end, the universal love for music triumphs....Kudos to the entire team for having the heart & courage to attempt such a novel. idea....they rocked that stage with tremendous spirit and fun...and today more than a dozen other choirs have followed their footsteps and performed this Rahman tune... Our symphonic choir did this... eight years ago now(? ... yes. 2014). I really wish we had a video of them performing it. As lovely as this one is, the memories would be nice to be able to revisit visually and not just in my head as I listen to & watch this [beautiful, energetic] performance.

@leoraj0101 I'm actually in this performance and because the piece is so rhythmically challenging we first learned the entire thing on a neutral syllable, i think it was "Da." And then after we had gotten that, our choir professor, who had learned all of the proper pronunciations before choosing the song for our concert, went over it with us word by word and we just did a section at a time. And we all practiced until we had it down. And thanks a lot! we worked really hard!
One of my choir guys said we should try this piece, I looked at him like he was purely insane.

ok so im white and I can appreciate this! My choir in California, (United States) is doing this song and it is very difficult to us. There is one person in our of thirty,(or so) choir who is of indian decent, and well... ya you can see our struggle. any indian people with tips for swifter and easier pronunciation?
Actually this is difficult tl for indians too cos there are a lot of languages in india..and this is from tamil nadu where tamil is spoken..I come from the neighbouring state of kerala where malayalam is spoken which is related to tamil than other indian languages but even then I have to practise it to get it right and I dono meaning of most words
the tamil words, the way how its arranged in this song convey emotions, its called IRATTAIKILAVI & ADUKKUTHODAR in Tamil grammar which is 2300 years old atleast which the tamils follow even today. its so poetic and cute the way words are arranged to convey the meaning. in olden days, kings would heavily shower them with riches for such kind of poetic mastery over the language. so artisticc
