Kelly did so good and she deserved to be the REAL winner of Dancing with the Stars
I have loved Kelly since she was on Port Charles and she is the only reason I started watching DWTS, I'm so glad that she won! She improved so much over the weeks and I loved watching her.
she is awkward sometimes when she dances but still AMAZING, I LOVE HER! she did a wonderful job

In an interview I read with Kelly after she won the show, she said the reason her face looked like "somebody had died" was because she had recently gotten her wisdom teeth pulled, and her mouth was probably still a little sore. Poor girl! so glad she won, though.
actually in an interview she said she did fall. But I still loved her performance. She worked really hard and looked beautiful.
Me too. Kelly got me on General Hospital and Dancing With the Stars got me on Kelly. So glad she's back for All Stars!
@vvalez83 Agreed.....you could CLEARLY see the cues she missed and how many times she made moves before it was time.
At the end she HAD to have hurt her knees on the landing.
I loved the first season of DWTS. Kelly Monaco was the reason I started watching GH.
She is an actress in the show General Hospital. She plays a character named Sam McCall

This dance is cute, but I find that the standard has obviously risen in these last few years at DWTS. Now the couples are absolutely flawless in the finals
Kelly since her first performance, had come along way. She's showed how hard it was to stay there and dance your heart out. Yeah, the others worked their asses off as much as she did but were they in the finals? I think not. It's not about your favourite.It's about the techinque and the amount of effort you put into showing how much you want to be there. My hat goes off to Kelly for her stunning performance and for Alec standing behind her every step of the way.
Someone should post John O'Hurley's Freestyle from the final with his partner Charlotte. That was a great dance as well.
@sidrandle02 Yeah shortly after she was made Champion, the guy who came in 2nd challenged her to a dance off for "charity". And he won. And he kept making comments like " if anyone should have gotten a perfect score it should have been me" they were made to do 3 dances, and kelly got really low scores. It was awful. But she was still the champion of season one. So thats what is important...
i love watching kelly dance...the reason i watch GH majority of the time, and the way she can handle TOUGH criticism is inspiring...but seriously? couldn't they have gave her a partner that didn't look like he was made of solid plastic?

I was a HUGE kelly fan. I am so glad she won over john hurley. I thought she was a much better performer then him. And when he made a huge fuss and then they had the dance off episode I was so angry! However I have watched every season since this one. And studied some ball room dancing. And looking back. This performance wouldn't have got her a perfect score. She was way off balance and missed count twice. I do think she improved more then anyone ever on the show. And still did a great job!
harsch, but I almsot agree. I'll give her props for at least trying even if it's clear she's not a dancer, but hey neither is Heather, it's after all an entertainment show. This dance was good, but in a i'm a kid and I'm 9 good. Nothing in her dance gave me the wow feeling. I leared her dance steps in 15 min.Her energy was great, I'll give her that. This dance was my favourite just cause of the music.
I thought Kelly did a wonderful job, yeah there was a few spots where it looked liked she messed up, but watching her from the beginning, and taking in the fact that she is an actress not a dancer, and the limited time she had to learn each dance, I say she did an awesome job. Go Kelly!!!!

It wasn't the best dance freestyle I have seen in the final but she won cuz she really improved from the beginning to the end and also the public supported her all along.
John was unbelievable in ballroom for his age and physical stature..Kelly was in great athletic shape, yet she just didn't have any rhythm...jmho. Anyone making that many mistakes in the current season would have their heads handed to them.
Patrick Swayze and all the pros said the same thing...but I'm sure all the GH fans know more about ballroom.

It's been three years since Season One ended, but it still bothers me that Kelly Monaco and Alec Mazo received a "perfect" score of 30 from the judges, to win it all.
TH-cam now lays bare the fact that their freestyle (to "Make it Loud") was ANYTHING but perfect.
Note that, after Kelly and Alec descend the stairs and they begin to dance side by side, she seems frozen and unsure of what to do next. She looks over at his feet, and finally gets in step.
This is a good dance, but not a "30."
Does anyone have the clip of Trista Sutter from Season One? She only got to do one dance, but I thought she did pretty well. I would like to see it again.
obviously, she wasn't competing with the other seasons. her freestyle was the best of HER season
Pretty much like that Taylor Hicks/Katherine McPhee "American Idol" controversy where some people couldn't get through to vote for who they wanted.
Veronify, she did mess up quite a bit, but like you said, her improvment was great.
A perfect 30 - "This has never happened before on DWTS!" No shit, Sherlock, it was only the first season! My God, it's easy to see why this host was canned!

I would suggest checking your facts instead of assuming things. The press and several celebrities stood up to complain. John would not have the power to "demand" a dance off.
Actually Kelly was first on board for the dance off..it was suggested during a press conference, it took John a while before he decided if he even wanted to do it.

I know. I'm sure they're pretty embarassed when they look back upon that series. I was embarassed for them while it was happening. What a setup!

I'll hold to that almost every voter was a sam fan. C'mon an daily actress aginst a tv reporter or a guest star 5 years ago. But that was ABC fault NOT hers.

in some parts of this dance, Kelly looks like she is drunk!

John and Charlotte got 9's for for a mediocre freestyle, Kelly and Alec's freestyle involved more than what their opposition presented thus the tens. For many,it all came down to who couple was entertaining more. I mean really would Granny Smith in Backwoods, Tennessee care about technical flaws orbeing entertained for a few minutes?
Kelly is not a profecinal dancer so that is the difrence between the british versison and the American version.
dude she was supposed to do that she didnt fall she slid like a cm.

That performance was disappointing. Kelly was all over the place and following Alec like she didn't know what was going on. There was very little dancing and too many awkward stunts. A great dancer hides the fact that effort is required for the dance. I saw nothing but awkward, stunted effort from Kelly. If she were on the show now, she'd be ripped apart and hopelessly lost.
I don't she she had a humour. For me that was just a weird try fishing points. A cliche movie type. I thought her paso doble was her best dance. T
omg, how the heck did she get three 10s for that dance? it wasn't that great. she was out of synch sometimes and lost balance after the lift.
Umm...Kelly would not have a snowball's chance in hell against any of the other winners...even Emmitt who was pretty sucky. Kelly never deserved to win...what a joke. John and Charlotte were amazing.
what? they won?? they made too much and too big mistakes. in my country we also have same show. and some partisipants never danced before but they dance much way better than them...these dancers would take the last place if they dance like this every time...its very low level..i am sure many profesionals would agree with me
